Madden saw that and was worried but the NFL came to them for the deal not the other way around. Put you people online knows this already. You just want to keep that fantasy alive where 2k was so close to ending madden when in reality they were barely holding on as a competitor by the time that exclusivity deal happened.
I was just thinking that while playing madden with my fam. Madden’s half time show is garbage. I keep an eye on the ticker to see who’s in a close game or who had an amazing game, but wouldn’t it be cool to watch the half time show like that and see that info brought to you?
The only way EA figured they would dominate the football game industry with Madden was to prevent all other competitors from being able to access NFL players, etc. If not for that, gamers would have moved away from Madden. 2K was about to dominate, just like they did with the 2k basketball game
When this game came out, i was in the Army, and one of my neighbors bought it. He knew i was a "football junkie" just like him 😂. He invited me over to show me, and I was blown away. I was shocked 😳!. I literally had to beg my wife to allow me to purchase the Xbox and NFL 2k5 . One day I was playing it and I said "If you had a broadcast camera angle to play the computer or head to head it would be more challenging and it would look as if you were actually watching and playing a real football game on TV 📺." So I began messing around by starting the game then pause it then I'd go to the screen showing the controllers I'd only take whatever team I wanted to play with control and change it to user. It worked! I don't know if it was a glitch, but I lived on NFL2K5 after that 😂😂. My wife used to get so angry because I stopped coming to bed 😅 I'd stay on that game from the time I got off work til it was time for me to go to PT formation the next morning which was 0500 in the morning 🌄 lol😅😂. Then 2k8 came out 3 years later, and to me, they both are still the best football video games ever made, hands down. Players didn't go through each other, and t hey made an NCAA College Basket and NHL Hockey game. I'm sorry my comment is so long, but the brother knows 😅. I'm currently playing 2k5 with updated roasters. This game is way better than Madden, the presentation, the instant replays, the player interactions with each other on the field and sideline. Unmatched ! Love the weekly sports center in franchise mode 👏 👌 🙌 👍 I'll never buy a madden game again.
It's crazy how old 2k5 is and it still looks more like an actual game than Madden. Especially in motion. Everything on the field flows so much smoother. It's not just a bunch of janky animations being triggered...smh
Yall lie so much. Everyone I see saying this makes it obvious that they dont play 2k5 and just remember things with rose tinted glasses. I play it on my steam deck a ton and the movement is so janky and you get locked into tackle animations just like madden. The game is fun though. it was better than madden at the time
@@Chuida17 Suction tackles are rampant among other terrible unrealistic running animations and cutting with no loss in acceleration etc. The game is fun and was amazing for its time but you would 10000% love madden 24 if it was released as is under a different company and name. Madden 24 has the second lowest metacritic score in the series at 65. Madden 06 on the Xbox 360 has a higher score. And that game fuckin sucked. There’s no fun in 24 franchise. Presentation is ass, they had 3 moth of imported draft glitches without caring to fix it, online gambling, no penalties in game, I could go on. 2k5 might be outdated, but the fact we’re even having a conversation about an 18 year old game, and how much people still play it and mod it over buying madden proves the point. No, I hated madden this year, last year, probably since 25. And I tried to support them but literally nothing changed the past 3 years. Same ass commentary, same glitches, but hey, MUT gets improved. Also, suction tackles weren’t a thing. If you had the defender beat, he wouldn’t throw a lasso around you from 3 yards back like madden.
@@Chuida17 I could upload days worth of footage of stuff people complain about in madden, that's present in nfl2k that they swear wasn't there. All of the things people like softdrinktv and ryan moody complain about are things no actual football fan cares about. I am a franchise only player and there is no longer any franchise features that I would want that are missing besides create a team and we clearly know thats been removed because of users making inappropriate content and that would change the esrb rating affecting sales. Suction tackles are a thing and they always will be in video games because thats how coding animations work. The sometimes suck but its rare that something game breaking happens. I can run for 20 yards a pop in nfl2k and there is nothing you can do about it I guarantee it because the movement is janky and I know it like the back of my hand
That Xbox version is a generational upgrade from the ps2 version night and day difference 3D wrinkles on Jersey Customized stadium music from your ripped CD,sweat And Video Halftime show not a picture gallery like the ps2 does
People always talk about the stellar presentation, but the gameplay is great. Throwing the ball, you felt so in control…with touch over defenders, into tight windows, just ahead or behind the receiver. The blocking. The struggle in the trenches. It was awesome 😢

When this new NFL2k finally drops it could kill Madden off finally for good but they’re only licensed for Arcade mode No Simulation type play so I’m curious as to how they’ll play off that. Hopefully the customization 2k is known for will put Madden to shame
I absolutely hate MADDEN. I was a 2K fan and absolutely loved how realistic it was. From the broadcast to strategy on the field. PLUS you could play past Super Bowl or great rosters from teams of the past to see how they would do.
The passing animations from 2k are next level, drop in passes to the corner of the end zone were gold. Madden can’t even get running animations correct. And the fact they don’t use players for tracking the animations is so cheap. That’s the main reason players are weightless and flop all over the screen. It’s a joke.
I was playing this ywsteray at my buddys place. We wee both thinking we wanted to play madden but it aucks so bad now. Just grab rhe old xbox and play 05 like the good old days.
The presentation was decent but I played both and chose Madden growing up it was more fun the gameplay sucked in my opinion on 2k to many dropped passes and passes thrown away from the receivers and yes today's Madden sucks

I loved both Madden 05 and NFL2K5. Competition. Once EA got the license I feared it would be bad moving forward. '09 and '13 was good but there have been very few good Madden games on consoles after the PS2 era. Makes me sad that it will be almost 20 years since NFL2K5 was released.
