I prefer to see drives and well designed play calling, incrementally moving the ball down the field, fighting for that 3rd and one 4th and 1, instead of five seconds of movement with kick off returns for TDs. The kick off isn't where the excitement should be IMO but in play.

Obviously, Keyshawn did not watch the XFL, nor does he respect what the league was about. Kickoffs were returned at a rate of 97%. Out of all returns over the course of 43 games, only one was run back for a touchdown. In 2020, there were 2 return TD's in 5 weeks. Fox and ESPN should take Spring football more seriously than this.

Exactly, I think he forgot that the XFL is the NFL's rejects. Fred Brown was the fastest returner last year with a 4.42 40 yard dash, which is slower than 28 teams kick returners in the NFL last year.

How does a touchback work in this case? Are there no more touchbacks? If a team like the Steelers brings in a return specialist, what’s to stop the other team from just kicking everything in the end zone for a touchback when the kicker is that close to the end zone? Or is a touchback now going to mean the other team gets the ball at the 50?

If the gets kicked into the end zone it goes to the 35 yard line but the ball hits the ground and then rolls into the end zone the ball goes on the 20 yard line

It's not classic football and it's not exciting or more entertaining to watch. Two different teams should have two side of the field where each team belong in to start a new drive each time. The new rules look more like a punt formation where the last play was left off. Russia did not invade Ukraine from Ukraine.

Hip drop tackle should be addressed after the turf field problem cause how many athletes want it gone compared to hip drop tackle. This is a mistake, and I see flag football in the near future, maybe after the Olympics, where it's being implemented for the first time really.

XFL is actually really good. I know people immediately dismiss the XFL because its not the NFL. But its professional football and its actually really good. I tried it out in person last year and got hooked. its cheap to go to games and the players play hard. XFL has also had so many innovations that the NFL has benefited from. So if you're not a XFL fan I say give it a try. Youll be surprised.

Idc about kickoffs they’re fine the way they are and more of an accomplishment if you score a touchdown. Like I said it’s a special teams phase which is rarely exciting. Just like the punt, this isn’t meant to be “exciting” it’s just a kickoff. Go watch the xfl if you don’t like it, the game is fine the way it is and was even better before catering to all the offenses. What a joke

They use to have people who made a living returning kicks and it was a big part of the game when a higher percentage of kick were returned and made a impact on the game. I mean a guy named Hester just made the hall of fame solely because of it, so just cause you don’t care doesn’t mean no one else does.

In fairness, this kickoff was never meant to be adopted by the NFL. The XFL was designed to be a different brand of football altogether. When The Rock and Dany bought the league out of bankruptcy, they made a deal with the NFL to use the league as a testing ground for new rules and features.

It's a good setup, but there needs to be a few adjustments. The main one being that you need to allow at least 3 players from the kicking team to be 5 yards back from the rest and allow them to move from freely along that line.

Should've just made it like it was years ago. The NFL seemingly makes the league worse with every single rule change they made. At least I got to qatch 10-15 years ago when it was the actual game of football. This is really slowly but surely being turned into a gimmick of the game. All they want is points for the casuals. That and passing it off as "player safety" all the while having added a 17th regular season game (and an 18th in short order too) smh.

Could the nfl just make it so a touchback kickoff is like a penalty on the kicking team and the receiving team starts their drive at the 40. That way the kickoff needs to pull up short of the goal line on the full encouraging returns. If kickoff landed in the field of play and bounced into the end zone the receiving team then would start at their own 10 basically penalising the receiving team for not catching and returning. Preserves the kickoff as is and encourages returns.

I dont like it theyre putting toomuch in referees hands when it comes to the nfl, all I see is the game is now getting boring, when i played i knew what i was signing up for, look at the nba theyre losing 📉 views because teams are scoring toomuch there is no defense and your getting teams breaking records every day because its impossible to play defense now you pretty much gotta let them shoot everytime
