After 5 minutes, I began reading the comments to see if anyone else thought this wedding dress shop is the worst. Glad to know others agree that the the saleswomen are rude to bring dresses over budget and they are ugly besides. Also not surprised to find out, the shop is closed due to lawsuits.
Brides of Beverly Hills have the worst dresses ever! Outrageous prices and weird staff. Nothing on say yes to the dress Lancashire with Auntie Gok. He's one of the most genuine, talented wedding stylist I've ever seen!
She’s an awful consultant. Just watched an episode where the bride’s budget was $3,000 & she brought three dresses over $6,000 just because the mother said she’d stretch the budget a bit for the right dress. And her attitude sux
Kevin to brides face, "You look fabulous!" Kevin to Renee, "You should get rid of that blue dress, it's hideous!" LOL! How to get rid of the blue dress: Host a social media raffle and give the blue dress away.
Thank goodness wedding dress styles have changed from the Disney Cinderella poufs! I know this show aired 10 years ago, but still seems really dated, more like styles from early 2000s. BTW the sales associate showing dresses way over budget was so rude, especially when she wouldn’t back down from the bride’s protests. Ladies don’t ever get manipulated into spending more than intended.
What’s with these entitled thinking gals!! The budget was set at $6000 (by the parent) so respect it. That was a very generous budget to begin with. Luckily, she fell in love with an under budget dress. Now for that ridiculous $17,000 blue gown that looks like a costume and nothing like a wedding gown, I agree with Mr. Fabulous, get rid of it. Sell it at cost (if she can) and break even or donate it to Disney. If Kevin had not opened his mouth when (on another episode) a previous client fell in love with it, that blue dress would have been sold.
@@marianavieira342 I always laugh how on these shows the brides come in (mostly) with no clue as to what they like or even how to describe a style or fabric etc. Then they let the store staff choose a veil! I know I am extremely specific about my taste, decorating etc. My sister-in-law (I had both sister-in-laws as my bridesmaids, I have 3 brothers no sisters) and she said she asked the girls to wear pearls, the other sister-in-law didn't care at all and that I would be doing everyone's make up, ha ha. She is right! I didn't do their make up but paid for their hair to be done in sausage curls, because I designed the bridesmaids dresses to be from the 1890's and made lavender ostrich feathered fans for them to wear with their silk taffeta lavender gowns and lavender silk taffeta gloves, ha!
2gs is outrageous for a veil. A whole bolt of tulle can be had for about 15 dollars. I got the haircomb for about 2 dollars, including stuff to decorate the comb, and made a crazy long veil out of it.
There can be hugely differing quality and cost between one tuille and another but even if all hand stitched ( which I doubt many are ) most pre made veils come from China and cost very little…it’s common for bridal salons to buy basic veils and add details to match a dress so there is obviously an added cost but when you compare cost of fabric etc to a bridal gown , most veils are definitely over priced ..when I was a florist we saw some horrendous stiff scratchy veils people had made themselves trying to cut costs , but by getting very poor quality tuille instead of a bridal quality tuille they really messed up the look they were wanting to achieve …better to get a slightly better quality tuille and gently handwash it before using to remove the stiffening products then carefully iron between two layers of white fabric to remove wrinkles or use a steamer ( steamers are also great to liven up squished silk flowers that would otherwise look rather sad ) if possible cut with good quality , long bladed shears to avoid a jagged finish especially if not hemming the edges……..if you choose an organza or similar fabric it is vital to do a finished edge or it will fray terribly…but if you’re prepared to put some time in you should be able to make a lovely veil for a fraction of the cost a bridal store would charge you .
@@beckyluvstoscrapnsew My mother was married in 1953. A beautiful, simple, elegant satin dress with buttons down the back etc., the fabric was gorgeous. But her veil - had deep Alecon lace all down the edge - a Madonna Veil. She did not know where it was when I got married or I would have used her veil in some fashion. I wore a tiara with marquis shaped stones to match my engagement ring and wedding band with a blusher and Church length veil and train.
That bride bought one less expensive dress because her fiancée’s daughter was getting married. I swear she bought the other one to prove she had deep pockets. I lost all respect for her when she came back. JMHO, nobody needs two dresses!
@@eileencervantes2745 sorry going to have to disagree, she was pressured by guilt and the consultants into the one she brought you could tell she and her friends liked the one she came back for much more then the one she first purchased.
Its crazy that they dont help brides find a perfect dress, they find a bride for their hideous dresses. They make all those beautiful brides look hideous with those hideous dresses
I wonder how many leave with no dress. What they have to offer sucks. The dresses look cheap. Do the brides not know there are better options out there??
I just love Clara! If I were able to choose any stylist, it would be her. Hands down!! And Kevin is growing on me.... "Is-a-not-fabulous!" Final edit: $2000 for a piece of tulle that they call a veil is criminal. Material costs around $100 (including the lace.) 2 hours of sewing time. I know. I've done this countless times. $500 max!
Those aren’t ‘dresses’. Those are period costumes, fit for the stage. I know this show aired some years back, still the gowns look outdated by decades. The brides look like cake toppers, at the best.
Exactly! All are the same, layered, crumpled, tufted, ruffled, fancy dress costume like and super expensive...all yes to the dress are so pretty especially Lancashire
Yes. It was a bit odd. Almost like they couldn't decide on the design out of 5 dresses, so just used all 5. It was a mishmash of styles and made me feel dizzy.
@@TheRonnaLynn an earlier comment basically said that she screwed over her employees & seamstress with their wages & they took her to court, she lost but refused to pay after court so her shop got seized & her merchandise got sold to pay off her employees
Even though this video footage is like 10-15 years old the assistants forceful customer service is appalling. But I think it stems from them feeling threatened they will lose their job if they don't sell. A desperate sales assistant comes from bad management.
It is part of the sales pitch to put the bride in a dress that they think she will hate. It creates more of a fervor. It is a type of sales manipulation. They do it on purpose at many salons and at in other industries also.
@@FenrirTheWolf01SHORT STORY: Old Renee screwed several of her seamstress employees out of their wages. They took her to court. Renee lost. Then she refused to pay the court ordered judgment. So the lawyers went back to court and got an order to sieze ALL HER MERCHANDISE. The sheriff came and closed down the deadbeat b!tch's store. It's all on the internet if you want all the details.
Interesting! Without knowing any of this I never thought this was a classy shop nor does the proprietor have any class at all. She did come across as a greedy money grabber!
Is it just me, but if the budget is $3,000 why are dresses being shown to the bride well above $3000... just asking for a friend... lol!😊 Shouldn't the gown take the brides breath away, does it really need to "WOW" the Entourage?🤔 Bride: we're spending $100,000 on the wedding what's 10,000 more ($$$) People with sense: $4,000 more then what you've got to spend (eye rolls)🙄 All you have to do is bring your wallet out, don't look to Mama for everything if you want something more expensive!🤪
@@gailpopehn9221 Yeah... I didn't like the dress...but nobody asked his opinion. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. If she loved it, she should have been able to buy it without criticism from a stranded. All her fiends liked it. It needs to be sold...and there was a happy paying customer. He needed to keep his opinions to himself, as a professional, unless asked for it. Would he be happy if. Renee came into his shop while he was selling a $12,000 bouquet to a bride and the bride was happy with it until Renee burst into I asked for insults on his work...and cost him the sale. That would unprofessional. He was damaging and I professional, even though he was honest in his opinion.
His event space, LA Premiere, probably gets a lot of wedding business sent his way by Renee (and vice-versa), so his "surprise" apearances are welcomed/tolerated by the equally-phony shop owner.
I think he is some wedding planner or hv event management company something like that. He said it in one the episodes. So he is probably there to lure brides.
I had to know too so I searched LA Premier and what do ya know? Kevin is the owner and he was still in business as of September, 2021. Renee Strauss is no longer in business.
I'm guessing the stylists must get paid by commission. They are really pushy and totally ignore the bride's budget. Sharea was given a budget of ; she showed four dresses - the first three dresses ranged in price from to ; the fourth dress was .
My huge irritant of the consultant... the mom says 6000, i can't do more, she always puts the bride in a dress that is thousands of dollars over her budget, then practically shames the buyer weekend they say, i can't afford it... i don't watch this show because of that...
$150K for a reception ?!! That's how much I paid for my 4 bedroom, 2 bath home in 1994 .. after spending only approximately $3,000 for our rings, my "wedding dress" & shoes from Nordstrom, my fiancés' suit.. the rest of our wedding - cake, florals, food, honeymoon suite at an infamous & historical 5 star hotel was all paid for by my family. Total, probably $5,000. And this is in Southern California . Screw expensive weddings. They're *so* over-rated imo . Save your money for a rad honeymoon and/or future home 🏝🏡♥️ 👌🏽
Yeah, in a photo with a soon to be bride her dude is wearing an RVCA t-shirt. That shit hasn't been popular since like 2008. Maybe I am wrong, but the point is that everyone is saying these dresses are dated AF and they are. I feel like they look dated even in 2011.
It's not just the dress. Alterations are extra and every dress gets alterations, they're always ordered too large and taken in so they fit perfectly. Jewelry, a veil and showy headpieces in bridal salons can add up to as much as a wedding dress. So when mom says $6K, she's actually going to be spending more like $8K before it's over.
Honestly I think the English version of these shows their Wedding Dresses are so much better and classier and more beautiful ... The UK Dresses don't need all the added bling they stand alone
@@celestebivin1659 they're obviously Filipino so the reception is because of the amount of family members that are going is the reason why 🤣🤣 big family so lots of money will be spent.
I made mine for less than 30, just had to hem the edge and attach it to a comb thing so it could be secured in my hair. Got lovely material for cheap and it matched my handmade gown perfectly
Other bridal stylists: let's find a dress for the bride ... Renée: let's find a bride for the dress! It's quite entertaining to watch this show at times :D
It is more special, because your mother made it! Yaaay Mom! My mother's veil had a wide border of Alencon Lace, but sadly for me she did not know where it was!
As someone who enjoys Say Yes To The Dress a lot, I feel like the only person in this comment section who actually prefers these dresses style over Lancashire (even though I also agree it’s the best of their series). Actually, I always wish to see this kind of dresses on SYTTD but they rarely are seen,I have to agree like most people in the comments that on SYTTD they definitely care more about the consumers. I guess that it’s more about style, indeed I am not even old(I am literally 17 years old) but the most popular wedding dresses style nowadays don’t please me , even in the early 2000,the “plain and simple” ones were chic and way more pleasing to my eyes than nowadays.
I have seen many brides and their families change their minds and buy a dress that is way above budget. People are emotional and again, sometimes they are wowed by something that really delivers, no matter how above-budget. As for the consultants, many times they are “steered” by the owner or manager to get the clients’ attention to a certain dress or price point. They are making a business profitable ~~ no longer the American dream?
Mariflar or whomever consultant, HOW DARE YOU "intended" without telling the bride. SHAME ON THIS CONSULTANT. Her arguing w/her bride "strategic" my foot.....way to mess.
But the fact that she bought 2 dresses is ridiculous! Also, I think it was great that they added material over her arm, but I would have used the same material as the dress with the same beading, no chiffon!
I’m 66. She was 63 at the time of shooting. How old are you, if you don’t mind my asking? I appreciate that this bride actually has a natural face. Wrinkles around the eyes, quiet makeup (especially for BH).
The bride from Seattle was ridiculous. Talk about a spoiled brat! She has no concept of money. I feel sorry for her fiancé…..I see a lot of financial battles in their future!
@@arosencrantz18 I was raised in Aberdeen, Wa but haven’t lived there for 37 years…..I’m also ashamed that she’s from Seattle even though I live in Colorado!
I like the blue dress, not for me though but someone will look nice with it. It’s perfect for a Disney wedding. The bride-to-be looked nice in it but it was not what she was looking for. ✌🏽
Even if I have the money to buy an expensive wedding dress, I would never go to this store. Their dresses just looks ugly, and they know it. They make their customer wear something they think looks ugly but lies straight to the brides face just to sell it. Then they forces the bride to go out in a dress she does not like and feel good about. Its the worst customer service. I can't believe they still have customers.
I watch the European bridal runway shows and the dresses are so much prettier. Remember that a lot of brides marry in a house of worship. Some of these dresses are so in appropriate
#1 Kevin needs to go - his 'faboolus' drives me nuts; #2 can't believe all these spoiled young ladies who don't know the meaning of earning money to pay for their own (over priced) wish lists
that blue Cinderella ball gown could perhaps look better in a different colour … maybe ivory silk with champagne beading & crystals … or pure crisp white satin with silver beading & crystals … and Catherine made just the right choice in returning for the sparkly beaded dress with little chiffon capped sleeves, just perfect … so what if she has two dresses ahead of her wedding day … at least she’s not stressing over what to wear on the day … best of luck to all brides for their “big day” and best wishes to all for long happy married lives
I absolutely love the sleeve part of the blue dress. I would love to see it wrap around to the back of the dress and drop the crystals all the way down the spine. The bottom part I would love to see it with an old Hollywood flair type of bottom and not the princess look. I even love the color but I would love to see it in silver and white.
I've noticed that more often than not, the consultants in this show always show dresses at least $1,000 above the budget which Say Yes to the Dress don't usually do... One girl said her budget is 3k and the first dress they had her try on 4,600. Next girl has a 6k budget and the first dress they give her to try on is 10k.
