Ray Lewis is a top 10 player ever.He was a game changer.Also the big DTackles in Sam Adams and Siragusa were great.Both like 340-350lbs eated other Olines.Running it inside was very hard.Running it outside when chased by Boulware,Sharper,Ray,Burnett and McCrary was even harder cause they could establish position really fast and fly around.Maybe the best defense ever and certainly the best run defense of all time.Blocks were being shed like Pandas shed bamboo trees.It was insane.Even when teams threw it the pocket didnt last much.That team was about that life.Secondary great too led by Rod Woodson and Chris McAlister.Special teams great too.Still that team holds records that its hard to ever be broken and some probably wont

Yeah, something like that probably won't happen again. It's largely running back by committee nowadays and passing numbers have been going up. In 2000, nine qbs finished the season with more than 3500 passing yards. In 2020 there's already four qbs with 4,000 or more yards, at least eight more who probably will hit 4000, and possibly another five more who will go over 3500.
@Terror832
@Terror832 3 года назад
There’s already 13 quarterbacks who have accumulated 3,500 passing yards this season. Another 3 of them should certainly get it like Big Ben, Tannehill and Bridgewater. Also Mayfield and if healthy Derek Carr have a chance at it. So we could potentially look at 18 quarterbacks with 3,500 passing yards. And that’s even with guys like Wentz, Prescott, Brees and Burrow missing time despite being on pace for it.

@@benhatfield8831 Rice, Irvin, T.O. and Moss are 4 of the top 5 receivers of all time were all in the league and still prime. If I had to pick a year I would say 1998, because that was TO's first year hitting his prime, Randy Moss' first year to where he had 1300 yards and 17 tds, Jerry Rice still put up great stats over 1000 years 9 tds despite sharing time with TO who was putting 1150 yards and 14 tds. 98 was Michael Irvin's last year before getting the career ending neck injury early on in 1999. 98 you can even add, Keyshawn Johnson, Tim Brown, Cris Carter Rod Smith, Eric Moulds hitting his first prime year with 1368 and 9 tds. And I could say Marvin Harrison but he only played 12 games that year, so he only got a little less than 800 yards, and it was the year before his stats really took off. That's 7 hall of famers and potentially 8 because Rod Smith is one of the nominated for this coming year. But that 2015 is still a great one though because there is about 5 that will probably be in the hall of fame. Its just not as great as that 98 year when you include that year plus entire careers. And the fact that 98 was not a passing league with extremely easy rules like 2015 makes it that much more impressive

Marshall Faulk really is somewhere in the top 10 backs to ever play in the NFL. His receiving ability out of the backfield kept defenses honest and was the keystone of that offense. Four seasons with over 2,000 yards from scrimmage. Eight seasons with at least 1,490 yards from scrimmage. One of 3 players to have over 1,000 rushing and receiving yards in the same season. Emmitt Smith in the year the Cowboys won their second straight Super Bowl rout of the Bills. During his holdout, Dallas lost their first 2 games, but he came back and won the rushing title leading Dallas to a dominant performance including the season finale in which he single Handily beat the Giants. Then, his performance in the Super Bowl along with Leon Lett’s tremendous play of causing the fumble that changed the momentum of that game. From rushing for yards, especially in short yardage in the red zone, always finding that first down, catching those dump passes, picking up blitzing linebackers, and playing great with a separated shoulder, it is a no brainer.

Back when running backs were so much more valued and before they changed the rules to benefit offense and mainly the quarterback.

That's only one hall of fame. Eddie George might get in at sometime. As for Johnson and Henry they had only 1 great season. Just by going by your standards if you are going to include one great season, Cowboys is Smith, Dorsett, Elliott, and Murray. At least 2 of them are in the hall of fame,

Great video. I wonder how this group stacks up to the 90’s with Barry Sanders, Emmitt Smith, and Thurman Thomas at their very best. Or the 80’s with Payton, Dickerson, Campbell, Allen, and Dorsett, Or the 70’s with OJ, Franco Harris, Morris and Csonka

Wow, it's been so long since that time that I didn't realize that all of those dudes were in the league at that time. And I knew all of their names before the narrator would call them out, except for Robert Smith of the Minnesota Vikings, I forgot his name for a moment and a couple of other running backs. But, other than that every running back, I for the most part, knew who they were. Great stuff.

Crazy thought here. First off, yes lotta these backs are greats. But this this many RB’s had this many rushing yards. It’s safe to say that defense wasn’t a priority in the 2000 season, which is why so many backs were able to have such great stats.

The 90s were the best generation of running backs, and so weres the 2000s, but no one in my opinion other than barry and emmitt can top the og jim brown Also can you cover the 2011 season, aka year of the qb? We had like 4 or 5 guys throw pass or close to 5000 yards

Its crazy that it happened the only year Peyton Manning missed an entire year during his career. They were all talking like his reign as top qb was over, not even top 10 anymore. And he comes back and wins qb of the year twice, an mvp and the greatest season in NFL history for a qb. So he at least made up for missing that year.
@thecensoredmuscle563
@thecensoredmuscle563 3 года назад
2018 was pretty crazy also. 5 guys alot 4600-5100. But what was crazy was 8 qbs had 31-50 passing tds that season. But I think this season broke it, I think like 9 or 10 guys got 31 or more tds. Defense is trash now, way to easy to play qb now.

I remember this as a coming of age young man. I loved the NFL prior to and during these days. These men played to win and prove themselves. Those days are long gone in most sports. I don't watch professional sports anymore. I miss those days when I could actually admire a professional athlete.

The period from 95-04 was the peak of the NFL for me. There was this great mixture of great all-time defenses (00 Ravens, 02 Bucs), great all-time QBs (Favre, Young, Warner, and the dawn of Brees, Manning, and Brady), and an ocean - absolute ocean - of awesome runningbacks. The league was never more overloaded with great runningbacks than it was in this period. What made it so great was that there was some kind of balance to this. Offense didn't overwhelm defense like it does now. The passing game doesn't drown out the run like it does now.
