NFL fans reacting to the best goals in the AFL from the 2022 season so far! Original Video: • BEST AFL GOALS SO FAR ... Follow the TikTok: www.tiktok.com.... #nfl #afl #reaction #americansreact #australia #football #league #goals #goal
You fellas have to react to AFL Explained. You spend most of the video guessing at the rules. AFL is easily the greatest sport in the world. Players range from 5'8 to 6'10...midfielders run over 10 miles per game (4 x 30min Quarters). The non-stop pace, skill & courage required is huge. AFL has been going for over 150years. Watch out for AFL Marks (catches)....better than anything seen in NFL
The goal square is used after a minor score (called a 'behind' worth 1 point). The opposition then kick in from the goal square in the oppositions defensive half. If a major score (called a 'goal' with 6 points) was kicked then the ball goes back to the center of the ground for a ball up (50:50 contest like a basketball tip off).
I really enjoyed the way you guys tried to figure the game out based off what you see. You almost had the scores, I was impressed. Also the fact that you're not that fond of AFL makes me want to (and I will) go through the rest of your AFL reactions to see if you end up enjoying it
The arc, where a number of players kicked from, is 50 mtrs from goal (55 yards). When a goal is scored, play restarts in the middle of the ground via an NBA type jump ball. If the ball goes through either the left or right of the goal, it's a behind and worth 1 point. The opposition then restart play from the goal square (the rectangle you mentioned) where they cannot be touched until they leave the square.
The goal square also comes into play if a mark is taken inside it. (A mark is what it’s called when the ball is kicked more than 15 metres and then caught on the full). When this happens, the player who marks it can go back and take a free kick. If that mark is taken anywhere else on the field, an opposition player stands on the spot where the mark was taken, the player who took the mark takes a few steps back from that point, directly away from their teams goals. This means, inside the forward 50m arc, the place you take the mark affects the angle that you’ll be faced with when you line up your kick at goal. If the mark is taken inside the goal square though, the opposition player always stands at the top of the square (the bit that sticks into the field, not the goal line) and the player with the ball kicks from directly in front
Watch AFL explained. but middle two is 6 points | middle and outer posts 1 point | hit the two large posts 1 point | hit the outer posts | 0 and handover.
The square at the goals is called The Goal Square and it's for the defence to kick out from after a point is scored. After a goal is scored it goes back to the centre circle in the middle of the ground and the umpire will throw it up the same way as basketball game starts.
The rectangle on the ground in front of goal , is a tackle exclusion area for kick ins after a minor score . After a major score ( a goal , 6 points ) the ball is returned for a bounce in the centre of the ground ( like a basketball tip off) , but after a minor score ( 1 point) the ball is returned to play by a kick in from the goal square ( the aforementioned rectangle )
Welcome to the greatest sport on earth. Fast, hard, non stop action, and all without pads or crybaby antics. These guy are elite athletes, who run nonstop for two hours while being smashed. AFL has no time for marshmallows. If you can't kick 55yards, or run i0mls or take hits at top speed, do not try playing this game. And stop guessing at the rules, guys, and watch the rules vid. Then watch a game highlights package and you might understand how the game is played. Forget all other "football" codes, this is the real thing. It's not pansy NFL hand ball, or basket ball, or sissy soccer. It predates them all. This is AFL.
If the ball goes through the two big posts it is a GOAL and 6 points If the ball goes through the big post and lower post it is a BEHIND and 1 point If the ball HITS the big post it is 1 point If the ball hits the lower post it has NO points You guys should watch “What is AFL” on the AFL channel for context
'What Is AFL?' put out by the AFL is a simple, comprehensive and clear explanation. Other videos (especially the one/s put out by the guy with the English accent) seem more confusing to first-timers .Catch up with those videos later.
Those attacking players in the goal square are defending the ball from oppositions defender touching it (behind 1 point) so whoever kicked it gets the untouched goal, they could have marked it and kicked a goal too but unselfish players defend the ball rather than take the glory especially if its a good kick from a weird angle. Square in goal area is for the full back to kick ball back into play after a ball went thru for a behind 1 point and if he does not kick it he has to make contact to his foot or ground with ball before running with the ball. After a goal all bounced in center circle. When your attacking and running with the ball into your 50 zone your looking for the forwards to break away from there defender to kick too the best option but 15 meters infront of them while there sprinting in what ever direction they break away too for a clean easy mark, if not kick to the pack.
That's why we have goal umpires , because , at times it can be hard to tell which sticks it goes through , but the goal umpires have ONE job . These are all goals ( through the middle ) minor scores don't get "replay" video's .
The 2 middle posts is 6points the 2 little ones is 1point. The square in front of the 2big posts is for the defending team to kick back into play when the attacking team misses the goal and the ball goes through the small posts. U can score anywhere.
6 points a goal, one point the post or touched before the goal and between the small posts one point! If it hit the small post, either a throw in. Or a free kick!
Goals kicked between the two centre poles are worth 6 points. Between the centre pole and outer pole is worth 1 point. Check out 'What Is AFL?' video put out by the AFL.
Rugby is a Pommy (English) game played in two states here in Aus NSW & Qld. The AFL is Australia's indigenous game played all over Australia including Tasmania. Not unlike the NFL only in the US. The game of AFL has been around since 1858. It's non stop action for 100 minutes the players are superfit & can run as much as 15 km a game (depending on their postion) Thats why they are not bulky like Rugby players. Do yourselves a favor learn the rules so u understand just what it takes to play the game.
The scores are real easy. Goals (6 points) + Behinds (1 point) = Total. The only way to score a goal is to kick it between the tall posts without the ball touching them or being touched by another player. Doesn't matter if it runs along the ground or bounces.
Watch the best marks vidio, buy the way if you kick through the middle it's a goal and is 6 points the side ones is called a behind and is worth 1 point.
There are way more rules than it would appear at first sight . It's just that these guys know how to work within those rules . It might appear that it's a free for all to get within scoring distance , but it's more like controlled chaos , that's how I think of it . Any score is 1 point but you get an extra 5 for accuracy by getting it through the big sticks . So scoring through the middle ends up being 6 while scoring through the outside gets you the original 1 . There are youtube videos that explain the game .
It's not a free for all, look for a rules video. You are correct the middle is 6 points, either side is 1. Try to find a full length game to watch. These are all Goals so they are all in the middle. You are not being shown the single point shots.
You need to watch the "What is AFL?" video on here.. A goal is worth 6 points.. if it hits the post or goes either side of the outer post it's 1 point not 3..

You might find this one good. The only American who has played professional footy and is doing very well. Recently became an Aussie citizen. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-XBRqqd5Vh_c.html Came from not knowing anything about the game to being an important member of his team
The square is used when the defensive team brings the ball back into the game. It has no roll in scoring. The ball can go through the goal from anywhere, any way so long as it came off an offensive teams boot and wasn't touched by any other player.
5:57 lol, the answer was staring you in the face here! Should have been so easy to reverse engineer it from an example score of 1.2.8 Also it was interesting to see how from this video it could have been possible to conclude that you’re not allowed to kick from inside the square. (I believe the backwards kick was, yes, but east enough to forget that detail). Because it’s the best goals, it’s not generally going to include little ones where someone just pokes it over the line. Kinda got me to wondering what it would be like if that was actually a rule
