Last year wasn’t Tua, it was Geno Smith. And I think for both Geno and Joe, what they came back from wasn’t an injury, but it was a comeback from a career that had dropped off. It’s not just “coming back from injury”, it’s a comeback for their career and their ability.
The funniest to me is Philip Rivers winning it in 2013 when he had no injuries or major setbacks the year before but they literally couldn't think of anybody who did lmao
Say? No but the fans treated him like he did something wrong any post about him was filled with “ he’s not even good” or some sort of degrading comment which is fine but to ignore the fact the man died on the field and still came back to play the next year is hating activity
Look man… damar Hamlins story is incredible and brave. however, the nfl shouldn’t just be treating him like a make a wish kid. He came back and didn’t start and didn’t get much playing time and that’s a fact of life. No one was thinking of Joe Flacco and he came in to a tough spot and rallied a team, with little to no expectations after Deshaun went down, to the freakin playoffs and did it by winning MASSIVE games down the stretch. You have to be playing and have to be playing well for you to win the award in my opinion.
Geno won it last year and he set a franchise record for the Seahawks doing so. It has to be a blend of stats and story to get the award. Especially if someone had gone from success to irrelevancy to now being an x-factor. Mike Vick, Eric Berry, Andrew Luck, Geno Smith and now Joe Flacco are good examples why they earned comeback player
He was a backup player that came back to being a backup player. There was no significant moments that made you think the award was deserved other than being back in the field and I don’t like that the trophy is being considered as a pity trophy when this is still the nfl. Flacco was in the verge of retiring and had one of the best 5 game stretches out of a backup in nfl history. Baker mayfield is as on the verge of being a bust and holding clipboard to being the franchise guy for the buccaneers(who he got to the divisional when they were written off) those are football moments that are far better than someone who wasn’t relevant then became known as the guy who almost died and came back to touch the field a couple times. And nobody’s hating or turning Hamlin into a villain. People just believe the award should have some football accomplishment added to the voting, not just being able to touch the field again.
@@PapaCheese2What did Joe do though? Played okay for 6 games and then got blown out in the playoffs? He played fine and all, but he didn't even overcome any adversity, and then all he did was be just good enough to get an already good team into a wild card spot.
@theghosty99 in 6 games he played more than the publicity stunt of demar Hamlin lol 😆 Hamlin is ass and it would have made a mockery of the award. Joe led them to the playoffs with the best player missing. Off the couch...
I agree Hamlin shouldn't have been CBOY. Flacco deserved it because it wasn't just on the couch but his last couple of stops he was as good (Respectfully). He came off the couch and took the Clowns (Ravens fan here) to the playoffs in spectacular fashion. Hamlin wasn't that good before his near death experience (thank God he is still with us).
I agreed bland should’ve won dpoy. It seems like CBs don’t get the love they deserve unless they are talking shit lol. And it’s weird because I remember when he broke the record I read the headline and just thought to myself “thats cool I guess” and kept it moving like dude didn’t put up 36 points by himself as a defensive player.
Absolutely, I remember that moment basically validated all of the people who didn’t rly like him in the first place or believed that he was “getting too much attention” and stuff
no way these dudes just said tua won comeback player of the year last year. One is in the NFL media and the other plays in the league. Do some research boys
TBH I don't think anyone knew who past CBPOY were unless they goggle it. Let's be fair. Eric Berry would be the only one I can remember off top because it involved cancer and he was a damn good player. In 2 year we won't remember it was Flacco.
So Hamlin was flying around during pre-season games, but was a healthy scratch the first quarter of the season? Also if you listen to his interview with Michael Strahan, some things were left unexplained..I'll leave it there 🤷🏾♂️
FOH Alex Smith wasn't just story drivin dipshyt he actually played and made a difference and clearly wasn't 100% while leading the team to a couple wins
Hamlin did not deserve shit lol I’m sorry. He was forgotten about all season. Now we see that nobody really cares that he died and y’all jumped on skip for no reason
alex smith led that shitty washington team to the playoffs. Hamlin is only on a roster still because of what happened to him. The NFL treats him like a make a wish kid
He won comeback player because he had a significantly improved performance season wise, I mean come on a season before that they were trying to trade the guy for Brady and even Watson
What did Joe come back from. At that point obscurity and then he put his name right back in the national spotlight. It's not who came back from the worst injury. who put themselves back in the spotlight with their play.
@@PapaCheese2 stop acting like playing time is integral to the point. How many backups play significant roles for their teams? You’re not supposed to be playing if you’re a backup.
@faukify he isn't even a good special teamer... you're proving my point he wasted a roster spot trying to get come back player of the year... dude is and always will be ass.. coming back from what he came back from isn't impressive at all.. considering he put almost no strain on himself sitting the bench
@@PapaCheese2 so I guess Justin fields is a waste of a spot if he doesn’t play this year. You’re fkn braindead and know nothing about football if you think a backup who proved he can play both safety positions is a waste.
Bro get real living through something should not get you an award. Like I get it was great to see him alive and well, but when I think of comebacks I think of Joe burrow getting his knee shredded and then taking the Bengals to the Superbowl the next year.
If coming back from near death don't earn you Comeback Player of the Year ya'll some callous individuals. Hamlin made the ultimate comeback so I'd give him the award over everyone.
They sound like Karen’s comeback player of the year is giving to someone who revives their career like geno and joe or a career threatening injury’s and then u make all pros damar literally didn’t do anything last season it’s harsh but sorry
Why, because the way they look or the way they dress? Because the title of the video and them crying about it being the media's fault sounds like Ring Wing Snowflake blaming everyone Trump mentality.
He became a villain because he was enjoying the new “fame” too much.. waaay too much.. instead of humbly glorifying the God who spared his life. Prayers we’re going up like crazy for Demar that night & beyond. God showed us a legitimate miracle 🙌✝️
He died on the field and came back . He’s supposed to in enjoy the life god let him live . You can’t tell a man how to enjoy his life after cheating death . Y’all are stupid Sad and selfish !!!
would be so dumb if he won. so the second he suited up and touched the field he was automatically cpoy? just screw what anyone else does the rest of the year?😂I get the sentiment but no, just no
