Nice review. I never got into traditional sports games much, I always preferred arcade sports games. That menu navigation and setup is the most insane I've ever seen lol. And just recently I learned why Madden 96 got cancelled for the PlayStation. They contracted the development of the game out to Visual Concepts. And for whatever reason, Visual Concepts attempted to render each team in the game separately, instead of just making one player and changing out textures. So EA saw how rough in shape the game was and decided to cancel it basically.

Yep! And VC went on to make some of the best sports games ever on the Dreamcast and the greatest football game of all time in NFL 2K5. They were just ahead of their time on PSX. :)
