You can effectively argue that the 70's Steelers, 60's Packers, and 80's 49ers each have a resume that deserves #1. My vote is on the Steelers, but that's just me.
@TheSSUltimateGoku

+Curtis Rupp 60s Packers 15 world championships one more than the Steelers did. Yes the NFL championships which was the Super Bowl before the Super Bowl count. At the Super Bowl started a year earlier the Packers would've been the first and only team to this day that would have 3 Straight Titles. Which there's no question they would've won against the AFL team and 65. No team in the NFL since the Super Bowl fully emerged in 1970 has been able to win three straight titles only the 60s Green Bay Packers with the 65 NFL title to the 66 Super Bowl title to the 67 Super Bowl title. The 60s Packers for that alone deserves to be number one.

@donquixote...
@donquixote... 6 лет назад
Matthew Beazley The Steelers also had to battle other dynasties within their era (i.e., Cowboys, Dolphins, Raiders). I like the 49ers as well, but (to generalize) the Bears arguably were a one hit wonder, the Cowboys were at the end of their rope (early 80s), and they got beat by Bill Parcels Giants. And a valid argument can also now be made for the Belichick-Brady led Patriots...
@TheSSUltimateGoku
@TheSSUltimateGoku 6 лет назад
+Don Quixote Not really the Baltimore Colts with Johnny Unitasin the 60s the Rams of the 60s were very competitive. The Giants in the early 60s were competitive. The Cleveland Browns with Jim Brown of the 60s were competitive. Do I have to keep going on???
@donquixote...
@donquixote... 6 лет назад
TheSSUltimateGoku Yeah, actually you do need to keep going... There of course was competition is the point you are making, but not the volume of it as post merger... You're merely trying to argue a point I was not making, and no one would try to argue there's less competition post merger.

Packers had 5 championships in 7 years, with a 3-peat which is impressive. Great teams, great coach, great players. However, I have to lean toward the Steelers as number 1 for the following reasons. 1. Caliber of teams they went up against through the decade. 70s had more competitive teams. 2. Playoff format. Some of the Packers titles were when the teams with the best record in the Eastern Division and the Western Division faced off. One game for the title. For the Steelers, all titles were in a playoff bracket where you needed to win at least 3 games to be champ. 3. Length of schedule. Packers won titles on 14 game schedules. Steelers did it on both 14 and 16 game schedules. This also adds on to the previous point of playing more games overall. More games = higher risk of injury. Steelers got more wear and tear over the season and came away with rings. 4. BIGGEST REASON...passing rules changes in 1978. Steelers went back to back before and after the rule changes that changed how offense and defense was played. This showed that it didn't matter the situation, Steelers were gonna get it done.

What they don't even mention in this is that all these Steeler hall of famers at just about every position were all draft picks under Knoll that never played for any other team. They went from being the worse team in the NFL to winning four super bowls. And all with the SAME home grown players. That has never happened before or since. And why they deserve to be #1 dynasty.

Agreed, 💯 percent!!! God rest Franco soul 🙏!!!! Terry was great as well, people have to realize, he didn't have to put up gaudy numbers, they didn't throw the ball 40 or 50 times a game like now days? It was a very different Era and when Bradshaw needed to make a huge throw to Swann or Stallworth he could, and Franco Harris was a beast!!!!! And, to have a defense like that to lean on, unbelievable!!!!!!

To the FOOL at the end that said "six years is not enough"; it was a better and tougher league then. The players didn't make the money then and often had off season jobs. The rosters were smaller. Linemen didn't hold on every play, and get away with it. You could actually hit the quarter back. Receivers weren't crying for a PI on every throw to them. Oh, and they actually tackled.

I'm a diehard Packers fan and even I think those 70s Steelers teams should be ranked above them at #1. The Steelers won 4 Super Bowls over a 6 year span against the toughest teams in arguably the toughest era of pro football. They beat the Vikings, Cowboys twice & Rams in the Super Bowl as well as beating The Raiders and Oilers among other top quality teams on their way to the Super Bowl. None of these teams were pushovers by any stretch of the imagination. They also won back to back titles twice, a feat which hasn't been matched since. Talk about sheer dominance! The 60s Lombardi Packers were some amazing teams as well, but the teams they beat weren't of the same competitive calibre as the ones the Steelers beat in the 70s.

If Franco Harris and Rocky Bleier weren't injured for the 1976 AFC Championship Game, the Steelers could have easily won their 5th Super Bowl that year instead of the Raiders. The 1976 Steelers had their finest defensive year that season only allowing 28 points in their final 9 games that season.

Sorry for asking but the ‘60 packers won 5 nfl championships in a row and 2 super bowls also in a row also they lose the 60 and 61 championship and if they won them it could be 7 nfl championships in a row also they beat the giants,colts in their stadium Then in the lambeu field they beat by 25 blowout points the browns then they do the same in 1966 they beat the cowboys allowing only 10 points And in 1967 the Packers won the best conference championships game in nfl history winning 2 super bowls in a row and how do you dare to say that they are above the Steelers?!

The guy that said "it's hard to imagine a scenario where the Steelers win more than 4" is an idiot. He does know that the year of the immaculate reception they lost in the AFC Championship right? So there is another time they were one step away from another SB. In 1976 Bradshaw and half the offense got hurt and the defense carried them to the AFC Championship game. That guy does not know football and shouldn't be on this. They could have won with different change of fortunes at least 2 more.
@Don1228

With that 1976 team that lost Franco and Rocky they ran the table after starting 1-4 with SIX shutouts and destroyed Baltimore, went up against the Raiders with only one running back, they would and should have won 5 out of 6. That was THE greatest Steelers team of all of them...
@matthewvitka4455
@matthewvitka4455 7 лет назад
Donegal513 exactly. played in 2 other afc championship games and lost by only 4 points to the perfect dolphins. the fact the steelers won the afc championship 4 times in the 70s with how great of a conference it was with the dolphins, raiders, colts, oilers, chargers, etc fielding some excellent teams is a great accomplishment in itself, let alone the fact they won all 4 super bowl appearances which enhances that even more. they beat some of the greatest teams ever assembled. that dallas team was amazing, making it to 5 super bowls. madden always had great teams in oakland. the late 70s oilers were among the best teams to never reach the super bowl and just had the unfortunate problem of playing in the same era of those steelers.
@jl2b2b
@jl2b2b 6 лет назад
Donegal513 - Agreed. But one could argue that the Packers of the 60's had an easier route to a championship due to fewer teams and no Super Bowls to play in until the final 2 years of the dynasty. And the opponents in those 2 SBs were probably not the best of competition at the time. But I'm a Steelers fan and consider those 3 teams equally great and equally deserving.
@pst702

Donegal513 ..I agree... in fact the '76 Steelers defense had a few SHUTOUTS.. where is this guy looking at stats.. a moron... the Steelers basic foundation of defense started in the early 70's..even though they didn't win in 72,73,76 & 77.. the defense ranked in the top 5 of those years as well.. if injuries didn't hit them in 76... you're looking at a threepeat... but injuries are part of the history as well... nevertheless, any team duplicating 4 titles in 6 years would be extremely difficult today... Steelers were the Dynasty of the 70's
@Donegal513
@Donegal513 6 лет назад
Andrew Hoang... Not sure exactly what you missed in my comment. It seemed to be pretty straight forward to me. You took what I commented and made it something it was clearly not. No where was I trying to make an argument in support of the 70s Steelers greatness by using "change of fortunes." As you stated correctly that is a stupid argument. If I was applying that argument solely to try and bolster that Steelers legacy it would be idiotic. However, I was not. I was responding to the moron that was denigrating the 70s Steelers by stating that somehow they were only capable of winning titles for 6 years. That NFL analyst demonstrated that he had no knowledge of what he was talking about. Those 70s Steelers teams made multiple runs in years where they did not win a title. Getting as close as the AFC Championship game in 2 other seasons. In getting to those AFC Championship games, they were only a "change of fortune" away from more Super Bowl appearances, and possible victories. So, that analyst's statement of it being hard to come up with a scenario where they could have won more than 4 is just down right stupid. It is clear that you could easily find a scenario where that team wins more than the 4 they won.

The 70's Steelers. *STILL* the only team to win 4 Super Bowls in 6 years. The 60's Packers were winning their championships against considerably smaller league sizes. And the modern Patriots were basically the product of the greatest QB ever with one of the greatest coaches ever, and everyone else was a revolving cast. But the 70's Steelers were special because it was mainly THE SAME CREW during that 6 year run. Just a team of absolute badasses on both sides of the ball. The most COMPLETE dynasty ever.

You talkin about the Raiders of the seventies the dolphins of the 70s the Cowboys of the 70s the Vikings these were very physical very very good teams but they had to get through not to mention the division rivalries they had with the Browns in the Oilers especially even though the Browns back then never won anything but every time we played them it was like we were playing the Cowboys in the Super Bowl the Rivalry with the Browns back then was unbelievable they just went through I believe much tougher competition and you talkin about a team again with 9 Hall of Famers

454ss chevelle This tough 70's Steelers team couldn't get past the tough Dolphins team of early 70's. Dolphin team dominated super Steelers. Csonka, Kiick, Warfield departed after 74 season. O-line handled Greene, Greenwood, Shavers, Hamm, and Russell. Dolphins offense line one of the best in NFL history

The Quiff at the end doesn't realize that the Steelers almost won it all in 1976 as well but lost both 1,000 yard running backs to injury in the AFC Championship game. They also never spied on opponents like the Cheatriots who after all played garbage teams.

Geek at the end said 4 rings in 6 years isn't a dynasty. That's textbook dynasty in any sport. I'm guessing the Pats are #1. It took them longer to win 5 SBs, they were all close games and there should be asterisks by the first 3 due to Spygate.
@josephruiz7233

The videotaping practices of spygate were not banned by the NFL until 2006. Every Patriots Superbowl (ALL 6 NOW) from 2001 to present is legitimate whether you like it or not.

Number two dynasty??? 🤣There is none better than the 70's Steelers. If it weren't for injuries to both of their running backs in 76', they would have won 5 Super Bowls in 6 years. That 1976 team was possibly the Steelers best team of that decade. In fact, their main rival the Raiders (man for man) were better than the 80's Niners and the 60's Packers and any other team on the list. If it weren't for the 70's Steelers, the 70's Raiders would be number 1 with multiple Super Bowl wins.
@mcleanse1382

Yeah they won 4 in 6 years but look at what they did from 1972-84, never below .500 for one season, 11 playoff appearances, 7 AFC title games, 4 AFC titles, 4-0 in the Super Bowl. It was 13 years of excellence, not just the window when they won those Super Bowls.

their greatest team never made the superbowl because rocky and franco got injured playing baltimore in the playoffs and couldn't even play 1 down against the raiders in the championship game !!! that year was the best defense that they ever had and they didn't just defeat you , they physically punished every opponent !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm partial to the 70's Steelers, because I grew up as a kid admiring them. But the 80's 49ers have a good case, as do the 90's Cowboys. By the time you get the 2000's New England Patriots, yes they won more Super Bowls, but I question the quality of the competition. Tom Brady never had to play the '85 Bears or John Elway's Denver teams, or Shula's Dolphins or Madden's Raiders.

as a huge Steeler fan - I have to say that what the Patriots are doing now - creating a dynasty when everything (free agency, schedules, drafting, etc.) is in place to PREVENT dynasties - needs to be given the nod as number 1. dynasties were common in the 70's and 80's - there's only 1 these days.

You know your defense is good when ABSOLUTE STUDS like LC Greenwood and Dwight White aren't in the Hall Of Fame, simply because the Hall Of Fame had to choose between them and 5 OTHER 70's Steelers defenders already in the Hall! Think about that. LC Greenwood was a 6-time Pro Bowler, 4 time Super Bowl Champ, and a member of the NFL 70's All Decade Team...and that's not good enough to make the Hall compared to his defensive peers. The Steel Curtain was RIDICULOUS.

The Steelers of the 1970's were the greatest because they represented a city that was suffering high employment and the people had nothing else to cling to as the steel mills shut down. The team brought them hope and redefined the relationship between fans and players. No other city and team had that kind of connection. RIP Franco

This should be the tiebreaker to determine the better dynasty at least in comparison to the Packers of the 60's and the 49ers of the 80's; to win the Super Bowl in the 1970's you had to beat these teams/coaches/QBs- Dallas/Landry/Staubach-both in the HOF, Miami/Shula/Griese-both in the HOF, Oakland/Madden/Stabler-both in the HOF and Minnesota/Grant/Tarkenton-both in the HOF, and a few other very good teams in the Colts, Broncos, Rams and Oilers, to make the playoffs nearly every season, get to 4 Super Bowls and go undefeated, that is the gauntlet of gauntlets, period
@r.williamcomm7693

A dynasty is a group of basically the same key players winning Super Bowls over time. 80s 49ers had same QB but replaced most key players between first SB for 1981 season through 4th SB for 1989 Season so I think Steelers get the nod as do 1990s Cowboys & 2000s Patriots.

And let me guess who's number one the belichick-brady show don't be silly this was a true team this was the very picture of power and dominance you heard what the man said when an opposing offense went against that defense they new they where not going to have any success that day we'll just put an asterisk next to it give me a break this was the most highly concentrated power of a team in NFL history and the teams they went against in those Super Bowls the Cowboys of the 70s the Vikings these were real teams not the joke's who the Patriots beat in their Super Bowls who did the Patriots beat the Atlanta Falcons the Philadelphia Eagles the Carolina Panthers give me a break I'm highly confident that if time travel were possible I could go back to 1976 and bring them and play against the 2004 Patriots we would demolish them
