Now grip is finally viable for online races in NFS! Timeline: 0:00 - Honda NSX-R A+ Class 2:59 - Ferrari Testarossa S Class 4:56 - Honda NSX-R A+ Class 7:00 - Acura RS-X B Class 9:06 - Lamborghini Aventador SVJ S+ Class
In comes *Clarkson* 'with a smug face' "Hmm, in a hideous car if I do say so myself". "Oh, and here comes Hammond, in a surprisingly gentlemanly way" "Where's he headed- MY GOD HES ABOUT TO RUN ME OVER" *"HAMMOND YOU IDIOOUTTT!"*
Militia Gaming Community already did a study on what’s best. B and A class in general get more burst NOS from drifting than grip turning, the drifting in those classes is sort of like GRID 2 where you need proper technique to exit corners properly with a drift. A+ is the middle ground for grip and drift, and beyond that is where grip is king.
You can tell the dedication to understand the handling/mechanics of the game from this man on the corner king track. Your corners got so much better 👏🏻👏🏻
Impressive how Criterion steps in, and makes a competent grip handling model which is the complete opposite of what they did for their past racing games. Meanwhile, Ghost had been struggling since 2015 to make a working handling model on its own, let alone grip...
Both of criterion’s handling models were extremely well built and solid, easy to understand with some depth to master. I feel like they just brought their magic to ghost’s mess of a physics engine
Loved how Criterion made this game as arcadey as possible since the skill-gap is essentially how much Burst Nos you can gain from your style of driving lol.
Yeah but it is still surprisingly competitive. Like I'm seeing a lot of different cars in online. Even got my boots smoked by an S class crown Vic, which I thought was slow from my single player run. There's also some learning and depth to the driving which makes it fun. The "grip" builds remind me a lot of nfsmw05. Hugging corners and boosting out of them. So satisfying
I honestly find myself gravitating towards grip regardless, at least when it comes to RWD cars. Rear-wheel drifting in this game feels really inconsistent.
Nah, just drifting in general is in need of some buffs. You lose too much momentum drifting imo, had to force the cars to get the drift zones done. I've tried a couple AWDs as well as RWDs.
@@faizfrez2729 how do you tune your handling do you leave drift or grip in the middle and down force move to the right ? Cuz my 69 charger just doesn’t turn like I need it to to win any online race I’ve literally lost every race
For a 7/10 given by Gamespot, I still gotta say it´s a solid and fun game, with some future updates / polishing this could be an 8 / 8.5 for sure, love it!
It’s so nice to see so much variety in the races. The fact that you can race in a testarossa without engine swap is amazing. Gosh I need to get this game
it’s a case by case basis. Watch Militia Gaming Community’s video about this. In general, lower tier cars benefit from drifting, while higher tier cars benefit for grip. But some cars can only be built for grip, like the EK9 being FWD and has 20% grip base handling.
Here's a general idea to take for online racing: -B and A Class: Stick to drifting. You're too slow to gain enough burst nos from gripping turns compared to the gains from drifting. -A+: This is the middle ground where grip and/or drift builds would work equally. If you want races with the perfect mix of both, you'll want to try this Class. -S and S+: Grip turns just give too much burst nos to ignore. Better to switch to grip builds to max out nos gain when turning. The key to racing in this game is to gain as much burst nos as you can to make ultra-grippy turns normally not possible to make the best laptimes.
@@Blurgamer17 I personally have not seen any drift builds that keep up with my grip cars at B and A. B i mainly use R32 which gets 80% grip, I use R34 at A which gets 100%. Both cars get plenty grip boost.
@@greggschaftler1394 that'd be because AWD > Other drive types in those two classes. Acceleration and mastering cornering is key to winning races. Drifting in those lower classes will give more burst nos than grip turning though.
That clown in the R32 at the beginning trying to bodyblock you at the end of the race and still getting 2nd was hilarious. He got what he deserved with that one.
@@MedicalBillz for single player I used the E92 for all my S tier races and that car was amazing for grip. Still currently grinding to get it in multiplayer
Yeah grip builds are deffo much better, still struggle with understeer tho so I use a more balanced build. Do you reckon a full grip build is overall faster if you can manage the understeer?
@@IsuckAtDriving i feel like Gas to drift is a lot better for grip tuned cars. I used the Reguera 100% grip, and having the gas to drift was hella faster to control and recover than B2D
I will say i am excited to play this new NFS because it reminds me of how NFS use to feel back in the day. But idk what I like more NFS Heat realism or NFS Unbound arcade feeling. I feel like they both bring something unique. Maybe I'll just wait till UNITE mod comes out and well see how it is. I do like how this is them trying a different take on realism and arcade NFS. Almost reminding me of NFS Most Wanted.
4:47 the way you smashed into the cars clumped in the finish and your character's emote paired with the sound of shit breaking in the background has me deading💀💀💀
Im not sure if I'm the only one. But imo this game plays and feels like a classic burnout game. Also gives me nfsmw05 and underground vibes (especially while playing the classic nfs soundtracks). I know criterion made the burnout series as well so it makes sense. Idk but I went from not really being into the design and feel of the game, to being an absolute fan of it. Really makes me happy to see NFS going the right direction. I hope there's a lot of post launch content and support for the game. But they're definitely starting to perfect the formula.
The only I run these days are grip builds, nothing feels better than to grip through a corner, getting full boost and leaving everyone in the dust PS: To make grip even more OP, downgrade your gearbox. It gives you more space for more power
A+ is the perfect middle ground where you see a balance of drift and grip builds being viable in this class. B and A require more drifting to get more burst nos than gripping due to being slow. S and S+ reward grip turns way better because of their speed. A+ sits in a healthy medium for both setups.
I challenge you to prove me wrong The developers hate American car culture and choose to make all of them shit in this game! I specifically wasted 7 million trying to make both the Hell Cat charger and 392 challenger competitive in A+ and S they are garbage. Tried to make a grip build car loses speed if you turn so much as 1° Degree or more. With drift builds they have the tendency to over drift and lose all momentum!
I hate NFS unbound with those stupid cartoonish animations and characters. The worst NFS ever made bad idea but the graphics are very nice on the cars and world.
Can someone tell me what's the point of so much trash cans, pillars, benches, various trees if they don't affect the speed when hit, in the slightest? Same with the surface, no matter where you are: gravel, tarmac or dirt with grass, the speed and grip stay the same. You can literally hit bunch of trees, while driving on dirt and don't lose a second in time. What a nonsense. And everyone is so hyped and positive about the game when it has so many flaws. Graphics and cars are great, but they were great in The Heat and, well, in Underground 2 too, at it's time. And obviously the effects are kinda out of place, even if it's a feature of the game. So tell me, folks, am I the only one to notice all these things? Edit: Also notice the dash thing when you're at max speed. It looks like you increase the speed but it's fake, you drive with the same pace as before, it's just the camera going all fancy and shaky, fooling you to think it increases speed. Try it yourself.
The game is great except the taunting system. They wanna make like emote/celebration system but it feels cringe instead with that cartoony artstyle. Forza response/chat system is much more better and funny
NFS would be a good game if you actually had to stay in the track to be competitive, all I see is a bunch of dudes doing offroad on custom cars bro WTF
