Rivals has my favorite atmosphere, aesthetics, and tone in probably all of gaming - It isn't afraid to be edgy, but also doesn't push it. I wish we had more of it.
@@zyadelmarwany4566 Meh, I'm not a fan of live-service in paid games in the slightest, at least not the kind we have in most games nowadays. Other than having them patch up the technical rough edges of the PC version and release some more content through run-of-the-mill DLC, I wish they had expanded somehow, or just kept a bit of the game's tone in the sequels. I don't think the whole social media driven "Get famous and smoke the opps, yo!" shtick is inheretibly a bad choice, but it is starting to wear off, specially when other racing games have been going for that same thing for ages now. In short, I just want things to be a little bit edgy and serious again.
@TheNicoxoxD I'm very aware Rivals isn't objectively flowing with originality like other games, but it's just what I'm fond of. Honestly, I have a hard time giving anything the number 1 title on my favorites list, so I might've exaggerated a bit.
@@andrewtatereal3168 the fact that I sat in my living room for 9 hours and beat the game after chapter 4 shows just how much of a war it was to play the game
@@Deridiya the power of Frostbite in the right hands. unbound is Frostbite, too but all the original devs behind the engine fled DICE since EA was squeezing them too hard. Now the company is left with mediocre devs. Just look at BF3 vs BF2042...
@@FuDaVan honestly this is the general reason as to why I've lost interest in gaming. I've got a 1660ti and I'm not at all planning on upgrading since games these days are mostly hot garbage. There's also a very good deal going on rn on PS5 but I've lost interest.
This game was 65% of my childhood on the Xbox. I have so many of the in-game lines memorized, and hearing that “VEHICLE DAMAGE CRITICAL” gives me traumatic goosebumps.
Yeah, this video just decided to pick the most mid track in the game and then compared it to some hot ish from another NFS game. In the real world, we call that manipulation. Dude just wants to manipulate the narrative around the music. NFS unbound has amazing music but apparently because it’s not edm and rock music, that makes the game bad.
@Hart Fantom Your music taste is dog water if you think Unbound has an "amazing" soundtrack. And let me clarify that I'm not a rock and metal head. I listen to all genres. Back then the games had a more diverse soundtrack (rap, edm, rock etc.)
@@thenagainwhodoes7764 for real bro. That game and the soundtrack was something else🔥the game has some bugs when you crash but overall that game was awesome. In my opinion.. It was the last best need for speed before the nfs franchise started to get shittier
@@terminhaider9695 I still preferred Hot Pursuit but rivals was really good for it's multiplayer. If you're playing on PC you can make a few changes following a yt video to get it to 60fps
@@rubbertoe. the problem with 60 fps is it bugs game logic, making some events unplayable. Rivals is pretty much Hot Pursuit with an emphasis on free roam I feel whereas hot pursuit focuses on events only
I still have my launch PS4 and I played Rivals the most out of any other games that launched with it. The map and abilities were great, and the sensation of speed when you're going 250+ mph was excellent.
Oh fuck no, I'm literally getting Vietnam War flashbacks for that. Please no. I would be dead if I literally see a Venom GT police interceptor coming in front of me.
can't believe people are getting nostalgic about rivals. I feel like people forget how flawed the game was, with all the glitches, crashes, 30 fps lock (on the pc version, really?), non existent customisation and story. Most fun thing in that game was destroying other players with your weapons in freeroam.
@@dexter27ll6 the fps unlock introduced even more glitches and crashes and you couldn't realistically go over 60 fps because the driving physics wouldn't work properly with high framerates. The story was mostly a bunch of cryptic cutscenes between chapters.
@@dexter27ll6 It was a thing in Hot Pursuit 2010, Rivals is just Hot Pursuit 2.0 but on steroids set in an open world setting with lack of customization system, you only paint and change the rims of your car, but in the Racer career they added the upgrading system a bit up to it's maximum.
in my opinion the music depends on the situation, in Unbound/New NFS games hip-hop and latino music suit it well because its not chaotic. You just race while having music in the background, while in older more action-style NFS games Rock music fits better because of constant crashes with cops and other cars, which gives you adrenaline.
And Rivals gave us EDM songs instead of rock which I really appreciate that in Rivals, the fact that some people press their Turbo whenever the drop of an EDM song is playing is literally 100% total gigachad moment.
i wonder why there is no hardstyle or uptempo hardcore in the new nfs games???? considering a huge portion of the fanbase is european? there's this insistence on "world-wide" music for god knows what reason, but all the soundtrack choices sound like shit because they wanted to tick a box off for a country instead of picking decent artists (why is it all hip hop too)
Its still false because you can still go chaotic with the cops, therefore NFS Unbound's music still sucks ass if compared to older titles, especially the ones that utilizes DnB and Dubstep
Rivals was my first NFS game. Still remember back then, my brother will sit beside me and watch me play this game whenever we visit our grandparents. My uncle bought a 360 and left it there. The sound tracks are amazing. The bgm is chill when you’re just crusing, and when a chase starts, the music get fking tense, making you stress
@@ColdFear6666 I'm sorry but they're not energetic. Metal isn't just enough for races, EDM such as Bigroom or Electro House suits well. People often press their turbo whenever the drop is playing, like it feels like the adrenaline is running through your body. And Rivals did that.
Don't forget: Congorock & Nom De Strip - Minerals Garmiani - Rumble Knife Party - EDM Death Machine Manufactured Superstars - Angry Panda Cole Plante feat. Perry Farrell - Here We Go Now Cole Plante feat. Cameron the Public - Howling Madeon - Technicolor Flux Pavilion feat. Steve Aoki - Steve French
Rivals' pursuit music is pure adrenaline rush compared to MW 2005's pursuit theme, because that theme is full of orchestra. In Rivals it's just intense percussions.
If you're planning to play Rivals, the soundtrack in this game is absolutely fucking killer. Similar to MW 2005 but more of an EDM version. Minerals by Congorock & Nom De Strip is a banger song on this game, including Rumble by Garmiani, Angry Panda by Manufactured Superstars, Here We Go Now and Howling by Cole Plante, and also EDM Death Machine by Knife Party (1/2 of Pendulum). Hitting your car's Turbo whenever the drop kicks in is pure gigachad moment. Kinda like Decadence.
ik that criterion tried to shove in the popular genre of today, but like actually try to put something that fits the high adrenaline of racing or actually stop trying and just put fucking metal, rock, electronic like gran turismo does lol
Y'all really wanna argue about NFS soundtracks...High Stakes OST is absolutely incredible. A mix of high energy techno/drum & bass and experimental ambient electronic tracks that gives a unique vibe unmatched to this day, mmmmm *chefs kiss* Countless afternoons spent as a kid on my chunky white Windows 98 PC. Just watch the Intro for that game if you don't believe me. A taste of my favorites: Amorphous Being, Quantum Singularity, Paradigm Shifter, Road Warrior
How did some NFS soundtrack becoming worse? At least, some of them are fine. NFS Unbound: Somebody say, "Hey! We want some money!"! NFS Heat: Ah, wanna die, wanna die. But don't really wanna die. You were there, you would care. Making me aware. Every scar, all the blood. More and more, they're never done. Not enough, not enough. NFS Rivals: (dubstep remix / electro rock noises)
But I "put" songs about depression and suicide in Need for Speed: Heat, so that's okay for a soundtrack fan to IDK. At least, hip-hop is my country. No Filipino.
NFS Undercover : At age 17 addicted to ink, a rap fiend who had money dreams, my taste of fame couldn't compare to what I'd seen Them dying, government lying', all for that paper cheese NFS Unbound : ICE_CrEAmUuuu.mp4, some inaudible random arabic/indian song
This game is peak chaos and love it,this was the first NFS i enjoyed the most post completion, having fun in online and breaking any kind of record possible with people
I still say that NFS Rivals was the last NFS to have a great soundtrack, my favorite there still remains to be Trouble and Conquistador Rivals remains to be my third favorite right after HP2 and HP2010, and still remains like that If only playing as a racer didn’t mean having an instant death sentence
Yeah Rivals, most wanted 2012, and nfs 2015, where the last nfs games with a truly great soundtrack! It went downhill so fast after that! Payback was mid garage themes were ok tho, heat was god awful, and unbound is eh, there's only like 3 songs that I actually like.
@@ryon5174It's mostly techno and edm stuff. But if you're into that then this soundtrack is for you! After playing unbound for like a few weeks and then hoping back into 2015 i was blown away by how good the soundtrack was!
@@Razorstolemycar to be fair my recollection of NFS2015 was that I somehow was never able to hear the music despite being on full volume - I still think I’m fine with EDM, given the majority of Rivals’ soundtrack
NFS Unbound should’ve brought back the atmosphere of NFS Rivals with the soundtrack from MW. Hell, maybe NSF Unbound could’ve borrowed from The Crew (1) and add a Police DLC where we could bust racers as Cross.
I mean, it can’t always be that chaotic music, just look at all the most recent racing games, most of them contain music that parallels what’s popular at the moment. That’s why you hear less rock nowadays and more Hip Hop/Pop
Thing is that's not true, because all of the old nfs games had a huge variety of different kinds of songs. It wasn't just hip hop and rock. The fundamental reality is that people no longer make music because its a passion. Instead they'll pump out heaps of rubbish for the sake of money. Not all of course, but majority. Essentially the bottom line is that values have changed drastically over the past 20 years.
It's about song choices, there are songs rn that could perfectly fit a racing game (from the same genres of unbound music). It seems like they just randomly picked popular songs and called it a day.
True. Pursuits in Rivals we're really intense that would have you on the edge of your seat getting to the nearest repair shop before your car gets fucked up into pieces. And the Venom GT police interceptor in Rivals is fucking scary that it can kill you with 2 hits of pursuit tech. Scarier than Cross' Corvette.
Most video complaining abt NFS Unbound OST uses Rock music as reference when its probably two pod of the same pair😂 when it was eurobeat or DnB that makes NFS memorable.
