Dasho Thinley Gyamtsho was a singer and composer well known in the 1980s. Popularly know as Lopen Gyamtsho in the 1980s, he composed and sang the timeless classic Nga gi choelu masong for the first time in 1986 with Lopen Tashi Gyeltshen on guitar. His other singles are "sazambuling di na", "drukyul di na gawalu". Together with Lopen Tashi Gyeltshen, he composed "Wai dorozam", "wai lhamo", "droba atara", "ausaphalay jomi bum" and "gola bumtha mathra". They also composed nursery rhymes they taught to students at scout camps back then. In 1990, Thinley GYamtsho composed "aye mo" and "ya gung gi thri du nyima" when he was in England. He sang the song, recorded it on a cassette and mailed it to his wife and kids who were back in Bhutan. Thinley Gyamtsho did not sing actively after 1990 whereas Lopen Tashi continued actively singing even to this day. Thinley G later became principal of the Royal Academy of Performing Arts where he continued to composed, one popular one being "nang gi norbu".
