The battery does not last long on this device as I have it. That said the only time this thing comes in touch with a computer is to upgrade it. I just wish the whole thing was open source and not just one part of it like Trezor is.
can it hold FLUX ? can it hold ERGO? can it hold Ravencoin ? in reality can it hold any altcoin with future potential not crappy ETh, which any wallet can hold.
the real value they give you is the assurance of your keys being secure. If you want better compatibility and UX you can take the keys generated in ngrave and input it into a ledger and use it and be assured
that would be an extremely poor decision - you could also take the keys generated in ngrave and create a hotwallet with them in metamask, pretty much the same thing. well done on sacrificing security for convenience.
@@Astarath you’re just ensuring the key is unique… where ngrave fully supports I have separate keys for that that never touches anything else, but where there are coins that aren’t supported by ngrave, I’m just upping the security of using a ledger a bit and mitigating the risk of ledgers having been modified by pregenerated keys
Bit pointless doing that. If it's purely the private key generation process that you're worried about then just use two 16 sided dice, then input the result into a basic hardware wallet. The hardware wallet will generate the public key for you and hey presto you have a total entropy generated key on a hardware wallet. The advantage of the NGrave is more in the security of the device itself, and the air-gapping so you never have to connect the device to the internet. You can also use the Perfect Key feature which is pretty good.
The criticisms aren't substantial, first of all its your fault for not buying a big enough safe, second, its not an I phone so I don't understand that. So all in all id say its pretty sweet, im definitely gonna get one!
The coin/blockchain selection is actually pretty small/limited considering the cost and it's "high end" etiquette. Would add this in the dislike section.
Can I put one billion dollars of BTC and ETH on Ngrave and put it away and forget about it for like 10 years or more? Any problems if it is not charged or used for 10 years? I wish I had one billion dollars.
i could see a problem with the battery degrading with it not being used over a long time. so it will most likely not work when u try to use it after 10 years
ColdCard beats this device any day. Def suit someone like yourself as the device itself has no built-in battery. Also has a ton of security features this doesnt
You can update the firmware with the USB entry port and the cable. Note that the device will go in a special, secure boot mode, and that this entire process is covered by our EAL7 Secure OS, i.e. it is certified to the highest level of security available. The USB is also physically sandboxed so that it is not an attack vector. You can find more on this on our firmware upgrade page on the website (we can't post links here).
@@adimchionyenadum2962 actually it got developed in the previous bear market and they took orders then stating they'd ship in following weeks/months. By the time they actually finally started shipping it was peak of the bull market, fashionable delay.. I lost interest in them for a while because it made em look scammy, paying with money at the bottom of the bear market that would've otherwise multiplied, that opportunity cost made ppl who baught then easily pay over 2k$ in lost gains (if you'd took some profit lol)

@@adimchionyenadum2962 not sure of what your question actually is.. but I think for the price, the actual blockchain/coin selection is by far sub-par, especially at the price tag. What's the point of it if I can't even store half my crypto on it. The extra security element is nice, but it brings no additional value to 99.99999% users, a solid airgaped HW is great for most users and those options are already available with a much larger coin selection at 1/3 of the price. If you pay the premium price, at minimum, should support what other leaders in the market do, and we are far from this.. they pushed back shipping dates multiple times AFTER ppl already paid, I'm sorry but thay made them look quite amateur the way it was handled.. what guarantee the software part won't be experiencing the same lack of delivery..

Have you ever invested in another startup, and particularly one that was crowdfunded from an online platform like Indiegogo, Kickstarter, and Wefunder? Do you even know the legal terms of such an investment, and the legal obligations of the startup both to you and to the authorities?
What about those transactions that don't offer QA code and you need a copy and paste of receiving address? No joy? And that punch plate is stupid. I know how to put such things on airgapped computer fully encrypted. I am not a fan of fingerprint scanners. For one thing every device I have ever had with such needs to be reset periodically. Apparently I have wonky fingerprints. Missed out on a life of crime. And what happens if something happens to me and I want to have my loved ones access my crypto? Lastly this is a lot of hassle for most humans to set up. My Trezor T puts the numbers in a different place every time too.

Very legitimate concerns. Without being an expert, I will attempt some answers: 1). Yes, you apparently cannot use this wallet for transactions online without a QR code since it has no direct access to the internet. But I suppose you can create a QR code for almost anything online, including addresses, arts, NFTs, etc. So, if the receiving address doesn't have one, ask them to create it. Or create it yourself on your pc once you receive it, and then proceed to the main transaction. 2). The philosophy of Ngrave is completely different from other security methods in crypto. Of course, you can store securely on your "air gapped and fully encrypted computer." But what of if your computer is destroyed, or your external storages stolen or destroyed? That is where the metal plates and their punches are not "stupid" inventions at all, but God saving procedures. Ngrave was designed to be the safest hardware wallet ever built. It was designed to be hack proof; heat-, fire-, water-, shock-, earthquake-, corrosion-, and crush-, resistant. Virtually indestructible! 3). There is a provision for post-mortem transfer of assets with Ngrave. Check out their website at ngrave.io for more. They have written extensively on this subject on Medium too. You can Google it. 4). I can go on and on, but I will stop here. When you have to actually own your assets, and your personal Bank storing those assets without third parties, then no efforts should be spared in ensuring your personal Bank is safe. Nothing can be considered "a hassle" in such a quest.
I'm surprised to see you "unbox" Ngrave. I have one. I ordered from their kickstarter and waited the entire 2 years to finally get it. My main issue is that the camera is so bad that I can't scan QR codes to move crypto off of it. I can put crypto on it easily, but getting it off is the hard part. Currently, I prefer my Ellipal. Not built as elegantly, but has many many more tokens and holds NFT's and you can swap inside the wallet without using an exchange.
Best that you update your firmware to the latest version. The camera is more stable than the 1.0 version we sent you after the pre-order campaign. This should resolve your camera issue, as we know from our users. Take care.
