Okay, I am aware of the technical issues this video has, since a couple people brought it to my attention. Sorry, I have yet to watch this. I just recorded & edited for everybody else, so I wasn't aware of the problem.
Great career Nick! You have always been apart of the team I love, the Detroit Red Wings since I have been watching hockey in the early 90s as a kid. It is going to be tough without you on the ice, you're a hero to me and many other Red Wing fans. No one will ever play the game like you did, or as good. I wish you the best of luck in your future endeavours. I can only speak for myself, but I'm sure other Wings fans feel the same: Thank you for everything, we love you and we will miss you so much!
I'm a diehard Blackhawks fan, but I can't help but respect the hell out of Lidstrom for the player he is on the ice and the man he is off the ice. Classy, classy individual. Nothing but respect from me.....
Top three defenseman of all time. Missed only 44 games in 20 YEARS!! Made the playoffs every year. 1,142 career points in 1,564 games. +450 career rating and a minus player in only one year (2010-11, -2). 183 points in 263 playoff games. Four championship rings.
It's a sad, sad day .. Have to see this one more time, think it's my fifth or something. Lidstrom, my swedish heart salutes you, thank you for everything!
I am a die hard CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS fan and season ticket holder in sec. 305 and as every true hawks fan I hate Detroit BUT I think NicklasLidstrom is a great hockey player and an even better person and is one of the most humble NHL players all time. Evey time he was on the ice i was scared but i will miss seeing him play. wish you the best from a HAWKS FAN
From a Flyers fan... MUCH respect! Wings are like the Yankess but classy. Other then the Flyers, I root for one team.. The Wings. Lindstong, Zetty, and Dayrrsuk... How can anyone hate?!
lmao ima die-hard Hawks fan, i love Nicky L and the magician Datsyuk. a very respectable team, we both suffered first round exits. I hope to see a Hawks-Wings playoff series. Wouldn't that be awesome!!
growing up an avs fan i could never stand detroit but have so much respect for lidstrom and the whole team - not many teams make the playoffs 20 years in a row (now a leafs fan and anyone could guess how much that sucks lolol)
I have to say, I am a big time devils fan, but I have so much respect for Lidstrom and the Wings organization, I truly believe they are the classiest organization in the league, Lid is also one of my favorite players...along with Scotty S :P
Lidstrom sold his house right after he retired. Didn't even get the full asking price for it. He left Detroit as quickly as he could, apparently. He's a scout for us, but he resides in Sweden now.
THE best bro. That's something I'm so surprised us Swedes have so hard getting a grasp on. Everybody favors up-front forwards like Forsberg and Sundin before Lidström. They're giants too, no doubt, but f**k man. No one is greater than #5. And how can we totally ignore Kenta Nilssons efforts in the NHL? The same points/game as Forsberg, but with that 131p 80/81 season and 6 seasons with 90+p, how can we ignore that?
He can still improve and do better. Five Stanley Cups, Eight Norris Trophies and breaking a few more All Time NHL Records is possible for young Nick and should be done. This will set the benchmark for the new, up-and-coming stars. Go Red Wings!!!
He has definetely earned the right to make his career choices from here, but I think I speak for the majority of the Red Wing Nation when I say: Please for the love of god Nick, dont leave us yet!! The heart and soul of our team, the best captain to ever lace em up! Never missed the playoffs since he was drafted-no other player in sports can say that over a 20 year span!
I got alot of buds who are hawks fans so Id like that too, you have a good team but both hawks and wings ran into hot goalies. you're lucky to have patty kane he reminds me of datsyuk alot
it isnt through numbers hes carved his legend. its from his play on the ice! numbers or not nick lidstrom is the best d'man of his generation FACT maybe ever in my opinion. the numbers only solidify that position not gratify it.
dont think so, sakic didnt make every single year of his nhl career to playoffs did he, or win 4 stanley cups, or win 7 trophies for being best at his position for that year, and yet be so humble at the same time of doing so. no disrepect to sakic become he was a legend in his own right. but lidstrom what the greatest at his positon in his own generation hands down. maybe ever.
