Can we take a moment to appreciate that Blackwood is a legitimate great goalie? I keep seeing posts about worst goalies according to analytics and team save % and stuff, and people are shocked when they realize the Sharks aren’t even in the bottom 5. Outside of those 4 games where they got blown out by 6+ goals, Blackwood basically posts a .915 save % every game, and has 6 games where he has posted over a 0.940 save %.
Sharks took 20 games but have found a semblance of rhythm despite the injuries this is a tough season for the Sharks but the Flyers are in the hunt, Oilers while still low are looking to get back to their ways, Canucks was a good morale boost, Capitals shows they are improving and getting better every game, they’re not playoff bound yet but they are looking to get to the shine they had despite losing Meier and Karlsson to trades
@@SharksSJ408 Oh, there were points where I thought I was looking at the WORST NHL team I've seen in my lifetime (The expansion year Sens still hold that crown). But looking around the league at the surprises like Vancouver and the Caps along with the sputtering slow starts like Edmonton and Buffalo, I can't say their odds are 0%...
Feels like Zetterlund had 100 shots, absolute love his no none sense play, always trigger happy. This was a hard working, grinding win for the sharks and Blackwood beeing insane as always obvs. helps too. love to see it.
Coupled with the fact that they haven't had Couture all year, Barabanov only played 6 games, literally half the sharks starting lineup is totally new to the team. A lot of reclamation pieces, a few second chance players. They started the year against each of last years division winners, their first 8 games against contenders, everything was stacked against them... But they're finally starting to gel and it's showing.
Ovi's play this season has reminded me that there's a reason Gretzky's career NHL goals record has remained unassailable after decades despite many excellent players coming through the league. It's not enough to be talented and persistent; you have to be consistently excellent throughout your career despite a number of variables, many of which are completely beyond your control. Not sure Ovi has what it takes in his sunset years to pull it off anymore....
So many variables. Lost his rookie year to the lockout. 2012 lockout shortened season. Season cut at the 70 game mark due to COVID. 56 season, the following year. Add more than a year and a half worth of games to Ovi, while he was still scoring well... he'd already be there.
Even Gretzky only potted 91 goals in his final 362 games. Gretz started sharply declining at age 33 while Ovi didn't really decline until this year at 38 and he can still bounce back. Not to mention the lockouts and COVID years. Ovi realistically would already be past Wayne.
@@insertgenericusernamehere2402 It's hard to compare. Modern goaltenders are definitely better (in part because equipment has improved so much). On the other hand, I wonder how many more breakaways Gretzky would have had if he hadn't been handcuffed by the two line pass rule.
Ferraro's looking like a completely different player as of late since last season and the beginning of this season to now. Good to see the coaching staff is recognizing it and giving him some minutes in the starting lineup.
Caps needs someone to step up and fill the playmaker void. Oshie and Kuzy are having terrible start to the season, is it because of Bäckström is out or new coach or what?
Овечкину нужно возвращаться домой, чтобы возглавить российский хоккей, Фетисова отодвинут, дети Овечкина - американцы, у них все будет хорошо, они вряд ли окажутся на фронте и не погибнут за безумного путина!

I used to really cheer for Ovi and wanted him to get the record, then the war started and we all know wich side he is on so now im watching the games hoping he is not gonna score. I want to but i just cant
If the Capitals were smart (if), they would start looking to deal Kuemper somewhere else. He wasn't that great when the Avs won the cup...he just had a younger team that could bail him out.

Guys sharks need to lock up and make apart of their rebuild: Addison Blackwood Zetterlund Okhotyuk Kunin And maybe Justin Bailey could be an absolute steal and diamond in the rough and turn out to be a legit NHLer…look amazing tn
