This isn't a historic rivalry, but it shows the threads between the teams. 1.Mike Keenan getting them both to the finals and losing. 2. The droughts both teams had gone through 3. The 07 draft that gave Chicago Patrick Kane, and Philly JVR, There are a lot of threads between the two teams that not a lot of people knew of
I met Bobby Hull, he was at the rink my brother and I played at. My dad was excited to meet him. But when he walked up to an older gentleman and asked “where’s Mr. hull?” He goes “well…you’re looking at em!” He then signed my brothers twig and there it sits to this day!
Funny thing I just realized is that in the conference finals it was the one round where the Blackhawks didn’t have home ice advantage and the Flyers did
If this is a rivalry, then Capitals/Knights is a rivalry or Ducks/Devils, Hurricanes/Oilers, or Hawks/Lightning. Two teams playing in the Cup Finals doesn't automatically make a rivalry.
I find it funny that they called it an unexpected final. The Flyers yes since they were the 7th seed but Chicago was literally a contender and the 2nd seed in the West explain how they beat all odds in the playoffs. They beat Nashville the 7th seed in 6, Vancouver the 3rd seed in 6, San Jose the 1st seed in 4. The Flyers on the other hand did beat all odds. They beat the 2nd seeded New Jersey in 5, 6th seed Boston (which they were down 3-0 in the series and in game 7 alone) in 7, and 8th seeded Montreal in 5.
Lol one Cup Final, what nonsense. They should do a Flyers vs. the Rest of the Metro video, the entire division is one huge rivalry like the Patrick Division was before it.
