Tail is for the ones that don’t understand the game. Should be like CC option so it can be turned on or off as it wrecks the game IMO for the ones that can follow the play
The tail makes it easier for me to track the puck at 2x speed (life hack: use 2x speed on videos). I don't think it's a dang-it or a hat pick. It's just kind of there.
its a dangit if you dont consider other people exist. who might not have won the genetic lottery to have functioning eyes. its a hatpick if you are one of those souls whom needs glasses.
@@encycl07pedia- to me it makes it harder to keep up with the play. Im not really looking at the puck or the players anymore just the bold line constantly being drawn on the screen. Probably similar to how subtitles can cause me to miss out on sounds and visuals in movies because theyre distracting
The first clip about Brady Skjei's discomfort of getting kicked downstairs was awesome. Tripp Tracy is a treasure, even if he's a bit all over the place most of the time.
The Stutzle dang-it was actually a two-fer; 1, Stutzle gives the puck away to Gaudreau who sets up Marchenko for the GWG. The second dang-it was Gaudreau who sets up Marchenko for the GWG, a win that put the Jackets in 30th place in the NHL, ahead of the Ducks and Hawks, and jeopardizing their chances at Bedard
My favorite dang it for next week is the cross check to skinner in the Detroit vs. Buffalo. A huge one. How does a goal count if the cross check penalty takes place the goal.
Man that sens-flyers game was wild. Deslauriers fights two guys back to back not long after Debrincat and Farabee "fight", the very abysmal offense from the flyers (I think it was a franchise record for the least sog in regulation). Same game brassard broke his fibula (hope his recovery goes well)
I remember when they first introduced the ability to challenge a double minor, if they found it wasn't valid, it was downgraded to just a minor. Even if there was literally no penalty on the play. I imagine they changed it because it's pretty absurd to challenge something, show a replay of it, see that no penalty actually occurred on the play, and yet still assess a 2 minute minor for the ref getting a call wrong.
Pietrangelo for VGK last Thursday ... giveaway (handing it over) to San Jose 1 minute into OT ... which SJ buried for the W ... big ouch when you're trying to stay in first place and playing a game you really should win
That black streak on the ice must be a Bally sports thing. I've seen it during power plays, and I guess they do it during overtime. It's reminiscent of the FoxTrax Puck abomination and therefore a dang-it. Re that weird Pens goal that hit the glass and bounced off the goaltender and in--yeah, I’ve seen that happen before.
We need an Arizona outdoor winter classic. They could build a rink in like a big aqueduct. The ice could be frozen by the machines while the freezers are cooled by the water around it. They could use their heads to make there be standing room viewing and stands around the edges. Lol it could work, if Arizona had more water.
The puck tail is a hat pick. Sure I don't like it either, but literally everyone that I talk to that is new to watching hockey says "the puck is too hard to follow" or "I don't know where the puck is". If we're trying to grow the sport and the fan base, we need it.
That puck tail thing is definitely a dang it. I had to watch the play three times to figure out who lost their stick and finally realized it was some dumb TV graphic. Glad they don’t do that in Flames broadcasts.
It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who thought the puck tail tracker thing was a stick on the ice. I’m watching the Stars/Flyers game right now and there was an actual broken stick on the ice that I thought was the puck tail malfunctioning. 🤦🏻♀️
Yeah it's funny how in the US they do the puck tracking on highlights only for plays where they score, so if the puck trace is on... a goal is imminent.
I LOVE the puck tail! I have astigmatism and i have no problem following the puck because I've been watching hockey since i was 8. But you know what my friends' number 1 reason they dont watch more hockey when i talk about it? "Its fun and intense but i just cant follow the puck."
Yeah I say to them that they just need to watch a dozen games and get used to it. I used to to hate it as well when my brother would put on the games :p It oddly takes practice since our “ball” is so small compared to other sports
When you know Steve said, “PUCK!” at the beginning, but laughed like a school kid at the thought of him just yelling, well, you know… lol. Idk why the idea of Steve yelling the F bomb tickled me so much.
You should’ve included the Duer Petterson stick incident during the Flames/Canucks game as it resulted in the Flames tying the game and winning it in overtime. So thanks to the Refs the Canucks got screwed.
The puck trail was cool in the 90s when televisions sucked so bad that you couldn't distinguish the difference between the puck and a pixel in the TV, now that televisions are crystal clear it's just stupid imo
As someone who used to have a lot of trouble following the puck, I imagine the tail is helpful. Now I’ve been watching for a while and follow plays usually no problem, I find the tail distracting lol. But if it means hockey is more accesible then sure
As for the tail on the puck, I don't mind it and I think it will help all the people new-ish to hockey. I can't stand watching with people who say "how can you watch this I can't even see anything"
Definitely not on the replay. Can you imagine trying to see if it's offside or completely across the goal line with a tail on the puck? I will say that even worse was the Avalanche broadcast of every time Rantanen was on the ice from the time he scored his 49th goal until he scored his 50th. They put one of those circles around his skates...I guess because we don't know what number he is.
There was another Dang-it in the Carolina - Ottawa game. In the third period a Senators player (I forgot who) literally picked up the rebound.... Then threw the puck in the net.
The Head Linesman there can also say it like, "After review it was determined that it was the glove and not the stick that was used therefore we have No Penalty." Explain simply to the paying crowd WHY you are calling it like that. They may not like it but at least they aren't confused!
I think the glowing puck with the tail this thinner size but in the original light blue color would be a hat-pick. But as is, it's still a bit too much.
Steve you might be too young to remember the glowing puck.... they showed the puck way back in the crowd when really it was just in the corner. They were trying to help people follow the speed of the game but ended up embarrassing the game.
Will you ever sell merchandise again? I would love to get my son a “If you’re a goaltender, tend the goal” shirt! Looking forward to it and hope merch is offered again soon!
I'll say it again, this channel should use my award, the WOGAPH, WOst Goalie At Puck Handling. You know, like the Razzies in film. "Tend the Goal!" Indeed. Sometimes it works, the goalie handles the puck and good stuff happens, but if you look at most results the goalie's out of crease antics end up in their team mates having to either do more work than they needed to otherwise, or there is a goal against. I don't know why there isn't a plus minus system for goalies that shows how truly effective the goalie is anytime he leaves the crease, based basically on "less work for his team mates" or "more work for his team mates" or a goal for (based on play analysis) or a goal against. They do all this other CORSI - percentage - goal expectancy - hit and blocks statistical c**p, but not on what the tenders do? WOGAPH !!! .
