really fantastic guitar playing..it totally did it for me and I could nt give a hoot about his facial expressions like some on here or wether he s not as good as paco de Lucia etc. I m glad I can just enjoy gorgeous music and musicianship when I hear it and do not have to pretend I have some kind of insight I need to pass on to other observers. It seems to be a strong trait in guitar and piano comenters. This is haunting and expressive and gets a big thumbs up from me.

forgive telling you BUT with these ( your ) words ( and if all people would believe you ) you patronise all players who do performance at the stage , with or without camera as machines who only want to sell . millions minutes of practice scales and rythme in old rooms in darkness are whiped away with your negative aditude . I playes twice in front of 1000 people in theatre and I fell warm for all the attention and respect I got from admirers of flamenco .Change your aditude , Alex de Lisa ♪♥♪
before tv, musicians were more composed. now its all a show. ... oh, look at me i'm so interesting on 30 diferent levels...watch my pain, see my passion...lol! ...watch how i extract these exquisite feelings from the depth of my soul. i can't control it, so it must be coming from my soul. sooo much emotion and everybody watching should give me recognition...haha the thing is, weird expressions on tv sells, and everyone is a salesman today.
@CT2507 Completely subjective comment with nothing to back it up with. Music is a performing art, part of that might entail certain body movement and/ or language. Is it possible that he's entranced in his performance? Could it be passion behind his playing? It has absolutely nothing to do with discipline, or lack thereof, especially in the case of a solo performance. You should put more energy into your thought before displaying it on the internet for the world to see.
Those who comment on his facial expressions. Don't have a bloody clue. When you play guitar like that. Its natural . Ive seen guitar players without facial expressions but their music is shit.
then he is damaged, if he cant let go of the pain that is causing this tension. but i dont think that is the case. i just think its lack of dicipline and selfcontrol, either because he believes in this modern idea of personal freedom, or because his teacher didnt tell him that he should keep the face calm. as his teacher before him forgot, and his teacher before him... in the older days, flamenco guitarists didnt make such a fuss about themselves because their role was one of accompaniment.
@CT2507 Like I said, nothing to back it up. It's not enough that the music was "excellently performed" as you put it, which in turn, negates you initial argument. Yes, I believe in the concept of "freedom" within a performance. It's ultra-conservative critics, such as yourself, that constantly ridicule performances for really no concrete reason at all, other than "he looks funny". Get out.
@CT2507 Im a guitarist. And I think as well that music has nothing to do with your face..And you make a big mistake..Paco de Lucia shows thousands of faces when he plays..Even Paco epero,or Tomatito or Vicente Amigo or Gerardo Nunez and Nino de Pura and so on..and all the jazz players...just go and watch John mc Laughin or anybody... OMG Stop this please... You dont know what is passion for music.
@newfolksong so u don't like mature and discipline. let me guess... u are on of those who believe in freedom, right!? :) look at how many faces and contractions Paco De Lucia makes, when playing even more complex music. that's right - none! and that's how it should be. it leaves the audience to have their entire attention on the music, and not the players face and his uncontrollable ticks! every mature human being is responsible for what he emits! ... u think u are objective?!
i have no idea what u just said. and i have no intention of changing an attitude that deals with the superficial showmanship. the easy way to score points in order to seem more interesting. i say, leave the facial expressions alone and just play.
