for those asking about gaining max stats, when you metamorph a familiar it gets 10% of its current stats added onto its start stats. so if you level it early on you dont get as good stats as if you max level it then metamorph it. morphing it early only lets you learn moves quicker. always level it till it cannot level anymore, then metamorph it so you get the best stats for that familliar.
If you dont have the veil magic spell, you can use seek fortune, the time when the dialogue box appears, the enemys on the map will not walk during a short time, so you can catch from behind.
I thought this was very informative and quite interesting! There were things brought up that I never thought about and I immediately took the advice and so far it has really helped me. I have since subscribed and I plan to watch the rest of the videos. Thank you for your great advice
thank you much for the advice my best all around is the astralynx found in the ivory tower or its previous form in billy goats bluff because it learns most of the best healing moves it has good all around stats, also it learns a move called upsy daisy because it is the equivalent of a phoenix feather and only costs 14 magic power it has 4 move speed and attack speed, the only other 2 I would recommend is a lumber wood or a paliolith for there insanely high defence ,thank you so much for the help
yeah, as soon as you see the heart over its head press square to put your team in defensive tactics and switch to ester, your best bet to catch it is to remove all area of effect tricks the npc familliars have. hope that helps.
yes that sounds like the dinosaur in the video, the first evolution of it (the blue/grey dino in the video) levels to a maximum of level 10 i believe and then cannot level past then, thats when i recomend you metamorphasize it as when you metamorphasize the monster it gets 10% or so of its current stats as a bonus so i recomend only morphing the familliars when they hit their level limit.

Well the best ones i've come across (may not be classes as best stats wise) Are the Green buncher (in video) the dino (best stats in game) and the bone ranger (highest attack in game) the yeti type ice monster is also one of the top 10 familiars to get too and one called Blessie (looks like a giant seahorse) is a pretty useful one as well. With regards to making your team i'd get a seed sprite for healing and the starting penguin monster that ester has for healing too.
it makes no difference how you attack it so long as when you kill it don't attack just incase it gets the hearts. congrats on you dino familliar, just remember to level it up until it reaches max level before you metamorphasize it for the best stats. glad this vid helped, keep your eye out for my next one on how to get guilders easily.
Nice I don't catch much familiars! So this guy will help me out a lot! Only have about four or five in my familiar vault but I'm still pretty far from the game. Fighting shadaar in my first encounter and he's pretty tough!

The “elephant thing” you said can be found near Ding Dong Dell. Have you metamorphosed that one? Or is that what it looks like from the start. I faced something that looked incredibly similar at the beginning of the game??
yes I'm talking about the dinosaur in the video, its the best familliar in the game which is why its hard to catch. just keep fighting them until one shows a heart above its head and flip to ester to serenade it to catch it.
Dont worry, being level 25 is not underleveled for that part of the game, i would highly recomend catching yourself a green buncher as they are very very good, and are pretty easy to catch in the desert. If you need a few more familiars before you advance then another good one is the skeleton (Bone something, might be bone ranger) that one will be useful to you later on in the game as its one of swains better familliars, i used the little familliar you got from the forest a fair bit too!
Yeah, that's definitely my problem. I just went straight through the story and I'm on the part where Drippy just rejoined our ship after we left him at the "Fairyground" (I think that's what it's called) with his friends. I'm only like level 19 now and Mite is the only dude I've been using.
Question i over level my Familiars and Char im at lvl 35 now and still havent gotten a boat anyways the thing is i want to get the best stat of a familiar if i metamorph it early will i still get good stats? or should i max them to a certain level before i metamorph them?
The only problem when you get new familars is that they start at level 1. So they could be extremely weak by that time. So its best to use your familar thats caught up and have those new familars in party. For example: ??? ??? ??? Level 30, level 1, level 1 Use the familar thats in level 30 to level up those two up. And also familars upgrades their own statistics but not the hp and mp. And their statistics is combined between the caster and themselves.

sorry oliver level 87 esteron level 87 as well. and using marcassin who is level 81 mainly using him for his strong magic. this time got to the great rasheid and lost hope I can get this famallier now pretty soon as I need this thx u 4 the help here as well panther.
its ok now panther ive done the a rank in the coliseum cant do last rank as the guy in there said I have other things to do and last rank is not ready yet. I kept getting all the other dino creatures but not the 1 I wanted panther but no probs ill just carry on as normal now thx again.
I'm not 100% sure on the way the mechanics work for making a familiar like you however i find killing them quick with more powerful moves tends to yield a better result as the guy who replied to you suggested.
you dino has reached max level so metamorph it to its last form using a jumbo stardrop (I think). then it'll go to level one and rank to 28 as its max level. now that uouve done the game you should be able to enter the S rank battles in sollosium.
Right now I'm feeling very overwhelmed, it happens a lot in JRPGs for me. I get to a point where I don't know if I should stop and grind for hours or not this includes getting new familiars. How long did you keep Mite? And the other familiars you were given by default for each character? I can't get that Dino yet, and I even tried grinding at that Duck island, but got killed easily.
BTW tokotokos do spawn with other enemies and sometimes in pairs so when I did perdida I just walked down the whole thing and fought everything then cast travel back to perdida
First one of the Dinoceros i got i had 2 pop up and the second one gave me the familiar XD its weird cause isnt its capture rate a 6% or something low like that?
I substituted my mite only in the postgame for the sapdragon and then got a team of my mite my sapdragon and my toko and i used my seed sprite too but she was 99 so i got familiars that needed training on my team
Do more side quests & slight grinding before trying. It also has to do with the familiars you take there. The starters are typically weaker than ones that you recruit. Try recruiting a Purrloiner Castaway Coast as it is fast in both attack & Movement speed & also (at least in my experience) stronger than the Mite.

You said somthing that they will get better stats if you level them upp Before you stransform them. Are you sure? I am new to the game and i have stranformed alot of them is that a bad thing?
Sorry igonre the bit about being the dino in the video, seems like you have the second evolution of the dinoceros, this first dino is a greyish blue with dark blueish grey hands, the second evolution (after a stardrop i believe) is the blueish purplish dino with white hands, the third evolution is either going to be Red (like mine in the video) or blue (water version). the final evolutions level to a max of level 28.
i just read what u wrote back I think ive made a mistake here I have morphed the famillar already and now it says it can morph again ive tried all the drops and nothing happens I hope I haven't messed up here after all this work it looks now the famillar like he got these white claws and it is blue.
im up on level 20 with this famillar now but he wont go any higher despite being tons of tokoys around pedida the level indicator stays on 20 any idea why this is panther.
I was super nervous for the porch grosso but my teams of level 22 and 23 found him kinda easy just use all out defense and use gogo (esters familiar) and use thunder spark then I use my Griffin familiar which is super strong and I beat him first try
the familliar itself is very rare to catch so don't worry if you don't see it for a long time. the npcs won't normally attack an enemy that has a heart over its head unless they AOE an enemy that doesn't. believe me you could catch in in one try like I did, but it could take you 100+ tries. keep at it and don't give up!
I would recommend Dragon Quest 9 It is very challenging with different classes skills and spells , But be warned I have over a 300 hour game play time and have still not 100% completed it. but it is a very good game and similar to ni no kuni and final fantasy. it is for Nintendo DS
Then i suggest you use Veil. And just walk around the floating castle. Until you actually see them. If you only fight them and not the other monsters. Then i think it saves some time this way.
its ok now panther just got it its on level 1 going to level it up now. I was attacking the wrong way and killing it before the hearts had chance to appear so ester could serenade it. I attacked now in a way it would only take so much hp off panther if id gone all out on attack it killed it but sorted now.
it's not that bad i entered the castle at 40ish & leveled my party at least up to 60 easily since you get more xp there than most places at that point lol plus i was also doing the darwin metamorphosis errand.
No you get tengri the dragon by playing through the storyline, you get him about 3/4's of the way through the game but you do not need to complete the game to get him.
I think i'm gona train another tokotoko that i have up to dokotoko because i need upsy daisy i relied on items the whole game until i strated getting tokos and the errand 131
True story... I actually got the trophies for maxing a familiar's familiarity & maxing out evolutions before even getting Tengri. How.... for levels, the same damn thing you did & battling lubber cubs for Planet Crystals for evolution.
yearh I kinda guessed it was something like this with the hearts. the problem being is when I fight them I don't see the hearts im on level 84 ment to say.
the minute I got the ship. I thought I was guna be really under level. I instantly went to the ugl-duckling and got my level 20's to level 50's. my guys were averaging level 50 ;-)
I levelled up on tokotokos near perdida from level 30. After reaching level 99 I still didn't have a tokotoko lol. The catching rate must be atrocious Also only ever saw 1 dinoceros and I caught it on the first try. Guess the game has been trolling me ever since that. My final party was this... Oliver: Castaceros Claptrap GreaterNaiad Esther: Griffin Wildwood LotusBubbard Swaine: BoneBaron Paleolith SugarPlum Also I couldn't be bothered resetting for star signs so just took whatever came. They were all star for some odd reason which caused me some problems against certain enemies
Not really, the Toko takes forever and a day to level up and to be honest is a good familliar but to actually get it to be good takes way to much time. its probably the like 8th best familiar in game, just use it for Exp is my top tip!
I Came across a different looking turbandit. when I coughs it it had a red background with gold decor. And the familiar itself had a striped hat with a flame on it's head. is this a special kind or is it normal
That my friend is what you call a golden creature. Really rare chance of encounter and even smaller to capture. Think of it as a shiny for pokemon! Congrats!
