Hey All, I hope you're having a fantastic day, and that this week's Side Quest finds you well. Today's video is a bit of an experiment. I'd like to throw a review into the mix every so often (perhaps once a month or so on average?), because I enjoy game criticism, and it's something that a lot of people have asked from me. So, keep your feedback coming, and let me know what you think. I would assume God of War would be the next game that would get this treatment from me (I would do Far Cry 5, but I'm not sure I can deliver something in a timely fashion, as I'm going away for a couple of days later this week, then back in LA for a few days, then off to Philadelphia for a week). Colin's Last Stand: Side Quest Your thought on the Wii store going offline? This is nightmare turned reality for video game preservationists and those of us resistant to an all digital future. An entire library of games can cease to exist with the crash of a system/hard drive. This is one reason I always buy physical when presented with the option. Maybe this can be a topic of Colin's Last Stand.

Colin I've missed your reviews a lot. No matter which game, no matter how old or new, please, continue to review games that you love and feel like talking about them a little bit. I hope you do continue to do reviews. I remember occasionally checking PSNProfiles after you left KF to see if you'd played games lately and then one day you had, it made me smile. I know how important games are to you and it was good to see you go back to that passion again. Even if you only review a game every few months, I think that would be perfect. Only review games you really feel you have something to say about, like you clearly do here.

Boy, have I missed your reviews. Your review of wrath of the white witch is the sole reason I even knew that game existed. I bought it based on that review alone and it ended up being one of my favorite games of all time. So I couldn't be happier to see that you're reviewing this one as well.

Despite being a new subscriber on here, I can definitely encourage you to please carry on with review segments like this. This review comes across as very balanced with literal counterpoints between each pro and con. This is especially apparent with your experience with Nii no Kuni Wrath of the White Witch. Couldn't believe there was a new game review from Colin! I also adored Wrath of the White Witch and couldn't wait to start the sequel, but I too am a little disappointed by the lack of emotional depth. Terrific review though, and it's brought back some serious nostalgia as I've missed your reviews and perspective a lot. There's been a serious void in the gaming landscape since you've been out of the mix, so I'm glad you've started this channel. Long time fan wishing you the best for whatever content you have planned for us, whether it be in the gaming or political/social sphere. Thank you for never changing and staying true to yourself!

Loved the review Colin! I hope you do more. I found it interesting that you referenced Actraiser when talking about the world building as opposed to Dark Cloud which was also a Level 5 game. Props on the Serpentor call out too! That's the first thing I thought when I saw that guy in the video only for you to say it about 30 seconds later. Keep the excellent content coming!

I’m glad you’re jumping back into the realm of game reviews. It’d be great if game developers invited you to their studio so you could do more history of segments on gaming companies. My only advice is don’t force it into a monthly thing if you’re not interested in the game. I’d much rather go a month without a review rather than you doing one due to meeting a quota. But I hope you’ll continue doing this. Also, kudos on keeping your reviews score free.

The kingdom building aspect of this game has me very excited. Level-5 has done this twice before with Dark Cloud 1 and 2 and it was great in both games (especially in Dark Cloud 2). You nailed it with the callback to ActRaiser. In respect to city-building, Level-5 was very clearly influenced in equal parts by Quintet's ActRaiser and that game's follow-up, Soul Blazer. I really liked catching monsters in the first Ni no Kuni, so I'm bummed that that doesn't make a return here, but it looks like they've made it up for it with a lot of other interesting gameplay hooks. Keep up the great content on Side Quest, Colin!

Wow this review is a real breath of fresh air. I LOVED the wraith of the white witch. I watched about 10 different reviews for the sequel now, and in every single one they absolutely demolished the originals combat system, and stated how superior this new games combat system is. The combat system was my favorite part of the original, I couldn't believe nobody else enjoyed it as much as i did. It's very nice to hear that I wasn't all alone in that feeling. I'm about 25 hours into the 2nd game, I really enjoying it, but am not grabbed by the characters the story or the combat, instead it's the extra stuff that seems to have captured my attention. Anyway great review, I always enjoy hearing your opinions about games so I'd definitely like reviews to be a recurring part of side quest. Also congrats on the year of CLS, I've thoroughly enjoyed all of your content.

Great review! I really enjoy the length and honest analysis. One thing I would suggest in your game review is variety in BGM. Especially if given the chance to insert Ni No Kuni's sweet, sweet soundtrack.

Awesome Side Quest yet again my man. As far as feedback goes? Please feel free to review more games. Having your opinion on gaming news and it's history is always great, but there's definitely something special about listening to your game reviews.
