My suggestion is dams and "silangas" be built on lower grounds. Better use an expensive machine to pump water up to the farm than wanting to use force of gravity. Let us put in mind the lives of the people living around the dam coz life is completely irreversible.
There was no dam there. There was a tunnel of the old railway line that was blocked,therefore forming an unintentional dam. So it's about anticipating dangers. The county,ward etc leaders would have seen this and unblocked it in time. Thats why there is weather forecast. But its like the leaders there think,it's an entertainment.
There's no dam. This is water that had been accumulating in a BLOCKED railway tunnel and the gully where it lies till it rose to spilling point over waterlogged soils...on the escarpment! Perfect recipe for disaster. Sad for the unfortunate families and travellers.

While dp is up in the air to view the damage cs interior ordered all dams to be evaluated, the question is why now, I am sure there were approvals for this dams by different bodies , the one that did visibility study , neema, environment etc. the waiting of damages then action is a disheartening tread in our country rushing or acting after damage is done, courtesy of corruption.

Where are the military choppers instead of politicians hovering around in choppers? The military should be on the ground with necessary equipment and supplies actively deployed saving lives not politicians on top of vehicles conducting rallies!!!
The president leaves the country and goes overseas amidst a natural disaster, what is so important overseas or what kind of overseas engagement that is overwhelmingly important than staying in your country and providing leadership in a time of extreme need or what kind of meeting is so dire that the stakeholders would not understand if you cancel the trip or participate via something like zoom so that you don't leave the country in a time of need? The president has been advised that there is a high possibility that there is going to be heavy rainfalls that would cause a disaster and despite that he gets in the plane and leaves the country for foreign trips. Other leaders cancel or cut short their foreign trips, holidays overseas or any missions overseas to rush back into the country to provide leadership but not Ruto! What foreign trip is so important not to be cancelled so that he's available to provide solutions to his country during a natural disaster? The president leaves the country during a natural disaster, that's the kind of leadership you have in Kenya!! Even the other leaders are shocked that he's overseas doing meetings with them while his country is undergoing a serious natural disaster!! In this case Ruto had several options but he chose the worst option! For example instead of leaving the country during a disaster, he should have something like a zoom meeting so that he can still participate in those meetings without leaving the country! Ruto is a not a competent leader and he has failed Kenyans at every disaster not just this one as he seems to prefer to escape the country during the time of need! Ruto is the poster boy for poor and incompetent leadership!
Where exactly dams are supposed to be constructed...is it high raised area or low lying area surely?? Why construct a dam on top and people build houses down if the area is a slope😢😢😢😢
Thats right. The Dams have to be monitored too. Sio kuambia watu watoke after disaster. That was their job to do. When the levels are high, you release kidogo kidogo. Not bursting at its seams and destroyed property and loss of lives.
