This is exactly like watching tectonic plates being formed. You can see the massive forces at work, how much energy is being exerted when those floes grind up along the still-attached ice, even flat plates that have been forced up over the surface of the floes and are lying at angles where junctions were created by pressure. This is what is seen in rock where plates have dived below each other and pushed one layer up in the air. I love to study geology but never expected to see the same process in ice on such a short time scale. Thanks ever so much.
