Fine and medium nibs are my cup of tea too, although lately I tend to like extra fines a lot too. I have a Sceptre with the #5 medium nib and I totally love it.
I probably went a bit overboard and have 4 Benu pens: EF, F, M & B. I think my favorites are EF and F for my handwriting style. 2 are Euphoria and 2 are Talisman. I think I prefer the Talisman style. They are so smooth or glassy feeling (not just the nibs but the plastic). The Euphoria plastic does not have that same texture. They are flashy, but it’s part of their charm. They remind me of the flashy Olympic ice skater outfits from that region. So FUN!!!
Thank you for the video. I also wasn't paying any attention to this brand. I see a lot of reviewers have it, used during size comparison. I decided to check it out. My choice is talisman dragon's blood (I just got an Estie Raven button piston filler in F, thinking of getting another brand in M or B) Your video makes me decide on the M Dragons blood. Thank you 😂.
I originally had the same attitude as you did toward BENU pens, because for me a little bling goes a long way. I also like larger pens, so until the Euphoria came out, I was not all that interested. I now have six and gave another as a gift. My preferred models are the Talisman (#1) and the Euphoria (#2). I love the way they write, look and feel. The people who own the company are also good people. I've found the Schmidt nibs to be great writers in F, M and B.
I've been thinking of getting a benu for a while now and I'm borrowing on from a pen friend fairly soon and if I like that, I'll probably get a euphoria. For me they look wonderful (I saw them at a pen show in person before) and while they're quite inexpensive for a resin pen of their finish quality, it's a big step up in price for me.
The Euphoria in Ocean Breeze was my first "fancy" pen! I definitely recommend it. The one issue that I have with it is its size: it is too big and heavy for my hand. (To be fair, though, I find pocket pens like the Kaweco Sport to be the perfect size for my hand, so it is fairly small. 😅) I love it so much that I continue to use it for shorter writing sessions, however. It is so unique and gorgeous!
Really helpful, thank you!! I’m considering a nice pen as a graduation gift for myself because it took me a while to get here! The Iced Caramel Latte Benu is sucking me in…I can feel it 😂 I currently use a Pilot M nib, and your video was super helpful!!
Great comparison video! I haven't ventured outside of the F and M nibs on the BENU's yet. Mainly because the Broad nibs have been a little harder to track down in the Canadian shops that carry Benu. I found the line width on my Benu Briolette #5 fine nib is little wider than the #6 fine nibs on the Euphoria/Talismans. I guess being smaller they just feel like they flex or give a bit more.
Good Afternoon, snowy day here in Pa. You had already convinced me to buy the Bourbon Euphoria, in an earlier video.! You were right, it is a Stunning pen and an awesome writer. I have M nib. Followed that with a Magenta Briolette, M nib and I love that as well.!! Next on my list is one of The Talisman in F nib. Down the Rabbit Hole I am going with Benu, I Love the Schmidt nibs.!! I wish they did a 1.1 stub as that makes my handwriting look nicer. Lol
I prefer broad, or medium nibs. Love Benu, but I can’t afford them now that I’ve retired. I have three, though: a Talisman, a Scepter, and the style larger but made like the Minima. I was thankful to get good prices before they went up.
I own two Euphorias, one Briolette, one Minima, and one Talisman, and one Scepter. All began as M nibs, but some wrote too wet and broad for me, so I have 3 now that I have swapped into F nibs. I am satisfied with all the choices I have made; they all write the way I want them to.
I have 4 Euphoria and 4 Talisman BENU pens. Love them. All have Fine nibs now. I bought one with a Medium nib but the wet nib plus the very wet ink I was using for that pen made it write like a broad.I was going to switch the nib with another BENU pen and then decided to just buy a separate Fine nib unit to replace it. Now I have the Medium nib unit on standby, ready to be pulled into service if I need it with a particular ink. 😏
Isn't the Montegrappa Ravenclaw amazing? It has become one of my favorite blues. Too bad it was a limited run. :/ Thanks for doing this breakdown. I do with my Benu was a little finer (I'm a big Pilot Fine fan). But it is so smooth, I can forgive it.
I found my Benu Euphoria medium is so wet and broad I really can’t write in my Hobanichi planner with it😢 definitely will get my next one in a fine! I was used to Japanese nibs so was very surprised at the difference. I should have done my research better!
Thank you, I needed to know about this specifically because I was trying to decide between the two for my second Benu pen. I'm right with you on unexpectedly becoming a Benu superfan. By the way, have you seen the new Venus Hair Talisman model they have at Truphae? Since you mentioned liking earth tones, it might be targeted specifically at you. :P
Hi lovely pens and lovely vid of writing comparisons. Just curious, as I am so torn between getting either an Edelweiss or Dream bean, is there one you’re drawn to more? Thanks!
For me it’s the dream bean but that’s because I’m obsessed with warm tone pens/ink lol my latest obsession is noodlers golden brown in the dream bean pen 🤣
Damn. I used to be a fine, but now I’m a medium, esp Pilot mediums. I was going to get the Benu medium, but based on this, I’m thinking it might be too…medium. So do I get a fine instead? Just when I thought I had made up my mind….
I just ordered the Benu Tailsman Four Leaf Clover which will be my fourth Tailsman. I love then as well. I missed out on the Shooting Star -- They are great pens.
