@earthstewardude It's still called a beaver! But there was one line even better. Uttered by the actor Ken Osmond. He a decorated LAPD officer but best lnown as the inguinal bad-boy, Eddie Haskell. Who said to Barbara Billingsley m, "Oh HELLO Mrs Cleaver. How's the beaver"?
Haha, I saw this with my parents at like 5 or 6 years old and I died laughing at this scene. My parents were both hysterically laughing but they were like how?!? what?!?
Priscilla was just perfect for this role. There's such a wonderful chemistry between her and Leslie. Plus she's quite a skilled actress with a perfect comedic timing.
I myself...forgot about the added line "thank you I just got it stuffed"!! I do remember as a teen watching this on TV and my mom snickering.... Pure GOLD!!!
Had a lousy weekend. Watched this scene from the movie countless times. Laughed till the hurt was gone. That was classic. Leslie wasn't afraid to make a fool of himself. And let's not talk about the baseball game segment. A moon-walking, doing the splits umpire. Are you kidding?????
The OJ scene remains as one of the greatest/dumbest/silliest slapstick scenes of all time. I had to stay for the next showing as I missed too much still laughing at the lines before the next
yeah, when I was 8 years old I wanted a "Beaver Patrol" T-shirt...it had 3 cute lil beavers on it doing the Cub Scout salute. Couldn't understand why my mother kept saying 'no'...
When my son was about 14 in the 90s his Mom asked him what he wanted for Christmas. ''A Big Johnson T shirt'' was his answer. I just sat there, said nothing. Few days later she figured it out after talking to a friend. I GOT THE GRIEF FOR NOT STOPPING IT EARLIER!! Well worth the guff.
That’s right up there with the Young Frankenstein scene where Gene Wilder looks at the Castle’s huge door knockers as he’s helping Teri Garr out of the carriage and says “what knockers”, and she says “oh, thank you Doctor.”
This film was shown on UK television December 2022 and I noticed the beaver line has been removed. Such a shame but I suppose these days it's not surprising.
Even as a kid, my friends and I died laughing when we saw this. Now that I'm grown....... I die laughing when I see this. The very definition of timeless.
I taught English in Japan in the 90s. One of my students who was at an advanced level of English didn't get this at all. If English isn't your first language, you may not get it, even if you speak very good English. I had to explain it to him.
I was watching a guy on RU-vid talk about a 2001 Beaver RV and looked at my wife and said, ‘I have to get one of those so every time I approach it in a parking lot I can say “nice Beaver” and She can say, ‘thanks, I had it stuffed”. She said she wouldn’t do that and I said, well I’d say “Nice Beaver!” And everyone around would be shocked. I’m easily entertained and this would -provide hours of enjoyment!
Same here. Parents are right: "Some things you do't understand until you're older." Of course when I went back and watched the scene I smacked myself in the forehead.
My teacher played this scene to start off the topic of how the world is full of people who make assumptions and people who make innuendos and how sometimes these can lead into problems.
I remember watching this scene as a kid with my family and my parents would laugh at it while me and my two year younger brother would just look at each other in confusion.
Priscilla will be at the Hollywood Show in Burbank, California at the Burbank Airport Marriott on March 1 & 2, 2024. No word yet if Jerry Mathers will be there.
The Guy: Siri, can you recommend some light reading. Siri: Famous Jewish Sports Legends stories The Guy: Oh, Hang on its in Airplane mode. LOL - This is a joke from the Movie Airplane 😅
I personally _love_ serious depressing stuff ... as well as excellent comedy. What I _dislike_ is adults going so whacky over all this superhero crap ... they should have left all that behind by the time they turned 18.
I remembered seeing this in theaters when i was 6 in one of Omaha's theaters and i didn't get the joke until i was 13 and understood what the meaning of the word "beaver" means
