Nichelle Nichols (Lieutenant Uhura) want you to work on the Space Shuttle Enterprise in this government produced film from 1977.
Feel free to Like/Comment/Subscribe. Originally shared on the Internet Archive.
Nichelle Nichols (born Grace Dell Nichols; December 28, 1932)[3] is an American actress, singer, and voice artist. She sang with Duke Ellington and Lionel Hampton before turning to acting. Nichols played communications officer Lieutenant (later, Commander) Uhura aboard the USS Enterprise in the Star Trek television series (1966-1969), as well as the succeeding motion pictures. Nichols's role was groundbreaking as one of the first African American female characters on American television not portrayed as a servant.[4] She also worked to recruit diverse astronauts to NASA, including women and ethnic minorities. - Wikipedia

She got this job because she challenged NASA in regard to hiring people of different sexes, races and colours. She went to universities to seek out students in the sciences who would be interested in working for NASA.

Uh huh, sure. Just look how “qualified” Kamala is, or press secretary Karine, you think she’s “qualified” too? Only a few reasons why those two clowns got the job, and it has nothing to do with their so called abilities. Just because of who you are, doesn’t mean that you’re actually qualified for the job. 😂 Wokeness is murdering our country, period.

I saw her talking about that and she got into the ear of the head of NASA and he was the one who got her into this and she helped NASA out tremoundously to diversify and bring more people into the world of space and space exploration.

Everything Nichelle said came to pass. The shuttle was used to build the International Space Station. One of the mission specialists who constructed the station was engineer Stephanie Wilson, a Black NASA astronaut.

Well Dr. King encouraged her to stay on Star Trek. He convinced her that even in her minimal roles and parts she was making a social difference. Her kiss with the Jew playing Kirk didn't go out over some of the airwaves in the South. In an article dated APRIL 2, 2018 11:24 AM www.vanityfair.com/hollywood/2018/04/harry-belafonte-petula-clark-1968-civil-rights-arm-touch-national-commotion "50 Years Ago, a White Woman Touching a Black Man on TV Caused a National Commotion Petula Clark and Harry Belafonte remember a televised moment that inadvertently became a scandal-and a civil-rights cause célèbre. Apr 2, 2018 - On April 2, 1968, America watched as, for the first time, a white woman touched a black man's arm on primetime television."

To bad she never went into space. She was only used to test the flying capabilities of shuttles. This is from what I had read. I did see her fly on top of a 747 when she was going to be placed on the Intrepid. Yes I did record her flying around my work at the time. I lost the video when we switched over to another computer system DAMN.

That is correct. There was talk of making Enterprise spaceworthy but it was deemed cheaper and safer to simply build a new orbiter instead.

Dr. Mae Jemison is the first African American woman to travel to space. She was aboard the space shuttle Endeavour in 1992. Joining the first class of astronauts selected after the Challenger disaster in 1986. According to an interview in Stanford Today, Nichelle Nichols playing Lt. Uhura in Star Trek is who originally inspired Jemison to join NASA. In 1993, she caught up with LeVar Burton, who asked her if she wanted to be in an episode of Star Trek: The Next Generation that he was directing. She ended up playing Lieutenant junior grade Palmer in the season six episode “Second Chances.” Nichelle Nichols even stopped by the set just to meet her. Upon hearing of Nichelle Nichols' passing, Dr. Jemison shared on Twitter that Nichelle Nichols “is forever for me the embodiment of grace, daring, intelligence, fun, inspiration, beauty, talent & the future.” She also added that she was understandably “heart-sad at her passing” and that she considered her friendship with Nichelle Nichols to be “a great treasure & privilege in my life.”

I was 15 when Truck Turner was released. Here is a 2 minute scene Truck Turner (8/12) Movie CLIP - Finger-Licking Good (1974) HD ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-boCpijI2k5I.html This clip is shorter. Ms Nichols plays a Madam motivating her sex workers. 20 seconds after assembling the women her voice is muted. Truck Turner (7/12) Movie CLIP - Your Ass Belongs to Me (1974) HD ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iaQdh-Hbp3I.html Star Trek is known for mirror universe evil versions of all the characters. Wrong. The Enterprise was used as an atmospheric test vehicle. It was launched at a high altitude off the back of a 747 in order to test the maneuverability and landing capabilities of the shuttle.

I would not be so sure. The history that star trek predicted had included a war that decimated human civilization, with soldiers being controlled through the use of drugs, not long after the time that the Next Generation was written and aired. If an Earth that abandoned what made it human with such savagery was able to get on its path towards a state of personal enlightenment, then we can too.
