90's era Nick at Nite was a treasure! It introduced an entire generation of us 80s babies/90s kids to a collection of classic TV that otherwise, we very likely would not had a great deal of access to or familiarity with. There were no streaming platforms back then. For a long time, not even DVD's. VHS tapes were the only other alternative and box sets of entire seasons of old shows were likely very hard to find, and if they were around, they were expensive. Our parents and grandparents' generation of TV could've faded into semi-obscurity if it hadn't been for reruns, especially Nick at Nite. Nick at Nite made old TV fun, pop-culturer-y (is that a word? LOL), and exciting. I remember being on the edge of my seat when 'Alfred Hitchock Presents' came on, in stitches when 'I Love Lucy' came on, wanting to go back to 70s NY and ride a cab with Alex or 'Nardo when "Taxi" came on. Now all of these shows are kinda scattered all over the place when it comes to access. Nick at Nite is BORING to me, now. They barely play shows from the 90s, let alone the 50s, 60s, 70s sitcoms I grew up on from their channel. Anyone remember those old Nick at Nite promos "preserving our television heritage"? There was actually something significant to that....a lot of kids today, I guess you'd call them Generation Z, don't know of entertainment or culture beyond their limited social media-influenced window. There's something to being exposed to entertainment of the past because it also presents different historical/cultural/social perspectives. It can actually be a bit educational!

The quality of these shows was also more substantive than series aired today. They lasted several seasons over hundreds of episodes in some cases, allowing for richer plots and deeper character development.

It definitely had more variety, with eight or nine different shows, no double/triple/quadruple runs, and more importantly, TV that really felt nostalgic (50s/60s/some 70s) as opposed to today's schedule where The Goldbergs is still on and there are only three other shows on its lineup. It went downhill shortly after the launch of TV Land, a network which itself went downhill about ten years ago. We haveDecades, Retro, Me-TV, and Antenna though, and streaming providers are even releasing rarely seen shows as of late.

@@pannoni8449 My cable company used to share Channel 32 between Nickelodeon and the A&E Network so it always cut off Nick at Night about 15 minutes into the first program. I hated that.

When I saw all of those TMNT products, I was like "Hell yeah!" The music that starts at 3:07 is "Willy Nilly" by Cyril Watters. 41:12 is "Saw Theme" by William Trytel followed by "Funeral March of A Marionette" (better known as the Alfred Hitchcock theme). 49:42 Did not expect the farting TV.

Dobie Gillies witnessed a murder. Then he went into the Witness Protection Program and got his name changed to Gilligan! And joined the navy and became a mighty sailor man! , In other words, Dobie Gillies and Gilligan are the same person!

That would be Maynard G. Krebs, not Dobie. Not a far stretch from Gillis to Gilligan, though!

Take the phone off the hook, and hang on, for a mini-series within a major marathon! One murder, Two confessions, Three parts, All on one night, All in the next ninety minutes! Alfred Hitchcock's epic, "I Killed The Count!", complete! All three parts, Back to back, In order! Because if we'd show them out of order, it would make any sense! "I Killed The Count!"! Next! On the final evening of Nick At Nite's Hitchcock Marathon! Stay tuned! The pretzel logic is starting to twist! "Nothing to it." Part two, of this three-part Hitchcock mini-series, within a major marathon, is straight ahead! "You have no idea of what I've been through this week." Part two, of "I Killed The Count!" Next! This is it! The last sequel in the sequence of the series, Part three of this Hitchcock mini-series within a major marathon! "I Killed The Count!"! Aye, aye, aye! Stay tuned! The twisted conclusion is coming up next! "I shall see you then." Only on, Nick At Nite!
@michaela.mccracken4461
@michaela.mccracken4461 7 лет назад
Stay tuned! It's the last night of the marathon! One hundred-thirty-one episodes of "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" so far, and only nine more to go to complete all one hundred-fourty! If you've been taking this exclusive twisted week in television history, you have no doubt gone through a lot of take, but, hey! Just think what Hitch had to do to do these cinematic masterpieces! "You have no idea of what I've been through this week. Jumping through hoops..." More Hitch on the way, Only on Nick At Nite!

Pardon me for breakin' in for a second or two, but did you ever noticed that Hitchcock is quite a comedian, and that his humor is so dry you could wet your pants? I don't want it! Why is that? And what about the next "Alfred Hitchcock Presents"!? How long does it take YOU to figure out what is goin' on? I've been watchin' all week and I'm not sure!
