Together with Gavin Harrison the most elegant and tasteful drummer these days! Not a lot of technical brilliance only but also an artistic sentiment shining through in everything he does! Go check out the wonderful band Big Big Train where he's a fulltime member! Best music since Moses wore shorts! :D
he's a drummer with capital D... amazing!! and what a natural sound!! his double strokes (both hands and feet) are perfect!! This guy really knows how to play drums!! And most importantly, WHITOUT DRUM TRIGGERS!
With all the brands you advertise and demonstrate, is Mapex here, your drums of choice, or is it an endorsement thing. Great drummer. Brilliant to watch.
This is the guy that played on the Genesis album after Phil Collins quit the band. You know they wouldn't pick a slouch. He makes it look effortless when he plays.
A lot of people in the drum forums I've been reading seem to be rooting for Mike Mangini for the spot in Dream Theater. Personally, I think Nick would be a better candidate. grrrrrrrr I hate waiting!!!
@mattjarl I don't know if you're just trying to get reactions but they're actually really good, not just the older albums. Sometimes they go overboard on the wankfests (I felt it was like that mostly on train of thought and systematic chaos) but it was pretty shortlived compared to what people draw it out to be :s
@fixxxer152000 I think peter wildoer would be best with his ties to james labrie and very technical drummer he is the busiest drummer i know shit thomas lang would also be a great one there are so many out there i cant wait to hear the replacement Mike portnoy is one of my heroes its really upsetting and disapointing to know he is leaving but i cant wait to hear new material
musically nick's one of the best out there. and a great multi-instrumentalist as well. but he's too subtle for DT...i'm quite sure he's not interested in playing train of thought or so...
