Great cover by a great singer/songwriter of an amazing song. Nick did his version by his own way, that's what make some renditions awesome. Thanks for uploading.
This might be one of the most beautiful songs ever written.. It's just Nick, his humble voice, beautiful songwriting, and brilliant guitar work. I wish it was four hours longer..
First time ever heard Mr. Drake's version of this potent, timeless, HEAVY song, was when I first played the "Tanworth-in-Arden" bootleg CD... oh, decades ago now. No version since has moved me, to the extent and degree (in emotional terms) as Mr. Drake's version does. It's so stark, so natural, so real, so beautiful, captivating, sublime... even fragile. I believe it's all in the purity of Nick's voice/vocal approach and delivery, the softness of it and, that of Nick's guitar-fingering playing style. The song just never seemed to weigh as much, move as deep, sung or covered by anyone else other than Mr. Drake (well, to me anyhow). Adore the Youngbloods' more famous version as well, but Nick just seemed to bring SO much more depth (if that was even previously imaginable) to the song... for his version 'cuts deeper into me' than any other version I've ever heard, thus far. (For anyone interested, the complete bootleg track listing is up at www.discogs.com/Nick-Drake-Tanworth-in-Arden-196768/release/12463251, highly recommend the recording).
I don't think I can see Nick Drake, Wes Anderson and Tommy Wiseau without long hair, until now :S But that's nothing to worry about, this song is amazing
Hmmm, I think the 'school picture' adds a lot more weight, depth, to the essence of the song, than we even care to realise... especially, considering Nick was battling some on-going personal demons, internal darkness, turmoil, while he was still here with us. : ' (
