53 years here and I'm sitting here just belting out this song listen to it. I got this 8 track for my birthday when I was 10 and I thought I was such a little badass 😃 those were the days that some I wish I had back.
@San Remo. Similar to your comment, I associate that song with the 1978 summer, more so at the end of that season, when I started my high school senior year (class of 1979).
My mom, 49, always woke me up playing this or something like it. I’d smell bleach and knew I needed to get up for our cleaning/dance party time. She had another child when I was 12, (ill be 20 next month)… my little sister. We got her on the same routine and we enjoy it. Imagine us getting a call from the school telling us she disrupted class by humming Dolly’s “Jolene”
Oh my God my mom got me Nick Gilders 8-track for my 10th birthday! Along with the square yellow Panasonic 8-track player with the dynamite handle you would push down to change tracks. Oh how those were the days! 👍
Your remixes are top notch and 100% awesome!! Hope you are doing well. Thank you for giving us a place to sit, unwind and take a break from all the stress and strain happening around us.
nicely written about this Guy/Song what an incredible journey this song had...?????? 20 Weeks befor finally nr.1 Spot...? Wowww but at least it had an nice ending...??? Not like Ultravox Vienna when it startet climming up the UK charts on its way to the nr. 1. Spot befor Tragedy happened...?????? john Lennon/Joe Dolcy...
No offense but I always thought this was female singing this. Wow and I grew up in the 70's listening to this very song. And every time it would come on the radio I always thought it was a female.
Nice one from www.youtube.com/@DJDiscoCat as usual! But is anyone aware there is a long intro version out there? The big drum beat/keyboard combo repeats 5 to 6 times before Nick snarls out the words "Danger in the shape . Remember Casey Kasem played this on a regular AT40 countdown way back in 1978.
"The lyrics were written from the perspective of a lecher who is trying to persuade "a streetwise Lolita" to leave with him." No wonder this song and Gilder just creep the hell outta me...
