@themillenia his voice has been trained for a different style of music. If he would have stuck to broadway since he was 11 he would have a much stronger voice.
I agree he just isn't strong voiced enough for this type of music. If you watch the 25 th anniversary concert his phrasing was very stop start as though he couldn't find enough breath. There were so many really strong voiced in that production it made his sound even weaker. Nice voice but not strong enough
I'm not a Jonas Brother fan, but honestly his performance wasn't bad. He did better than I expected. His tonal quality could use work, but I was still pretty impressed. Definitely the most talented out of his brothers.

I think Nick's picked up the british accent already :)) It's so adorable! The way he said UHMM i was gavroche blah blah blah sounded like he was someone else :)
People souldnt criticize nick for playing Marius. Cmon people please, even though he is a teen idol it doesnt mean he cant sing. If he got the role its because maybe he is more talented than people think. I think he sound really great when he played Marius.

@ValeAc95 He's clearly didn't hit any of the high notes that Marius is known for hitting. He just didn't make the cut for die hard fans. It doesn't mean he can't sing, he can't sing as Marius is known for. Listen to the original Marius, Michael Ball, he blows Nick out of the water. If give Nick a few more years to develop his voice, I'm sure he might be better for the role. I dunno, this 25th year cast just didn't blow people away.
@presidentnickie14 i thought so too! in some interviews, he doesn't smile at all. he comes off as very serious and to-the-point. this could be one of those times. or maybe he was just tired!
@EmmaInkHeart I don't like the Jonas Brothers either, but I have actually heard him singing in Les Miserables and he sounds completely different. Plus let us not forget that he was in Les Miserables before and he was really good in it. I think it's only fair to give him a chance and he's good as Marius. Woah! I never thought I'd say that!
I don't think Nick is a bad singer but this particular role calls for someone with a bigger voice. Therefore next to the other singers he came off weak. I also think some of the music was a little out of his range so he was straining on the notes. That of course is the conductors fault because he could have changed the key a bit for Nick.

I thought it was a really cute guy who kinda looked like him cause he had a british accent, and then at the end when they announced all their names I was like omg thats Nick Jonas?! He did SO GOOD! And I LOVE this play, I was so happy :D
@looloochoochoo Oh my god, really?! He's the guy who founded the Motley Crue. He and Tommy Lee are both REAL rock stars. Google them and you will know what I'm talking about. They are like 40 something years old and are still partying and sometimes perform.
@cdciam09 They were thinking that he'd be good for the role...? It's the freaking Queen's Theater! It's not like they don't know what they're doing! The girl that played Chelsea in That's So Raven branched into theater and was Belle in Beauty and the Beast on Broadway. He may have been one of the last people we'd pick for Marius, but he's really doing a fantastic job.
i'm really curious to hear his accent but sorry to say this because he might have misunderstood the question. it says if we could hear it doesn't say that the interviewer is asking HOW WAS IT. no offense... hehehehe.

THINK. about the crap you just said. ok, he didnt have the BEST voice, but he gets an A+ for effort, he has a good vibrato, and empty chairs at empty tables was incredible. he was a great actor, he was mourning when his friends died, looked distraught at eponines death. he had the youthfulness that marius is supposed to have, and absolutely fit the role. he was perfect, dont even try to deny it.
@beforethestormx31 Actually, the fact that he's tired and still has a hint of his eyeliner makes him hot :) I love it when he's tired! He looks awesome :)
He needs a stronger voice. His tone is clean (and very nice in some points) but if he doesn't develop more power he'll keep getting blown out of the water. If he learns to do that without sacrificing his tone, he'll be great. All around, not horrible, but not deserving of such a big role. My recommendation to him: keep it up. There's some serious potential, it will take a lot of work to unlock though.

@Shahzod8905 totally disagree. part of his awkwardness in this video is because of the sweat and his stage make-up, trust me stage make-up makes most guys awkward looking up close
I think that if he wasn't good they wouldn't of hired him. I mean I think he did pretty good because he's a Jonas brother and Jonas brothers don't usually sing like that and for an 18 year old he did good.
Hes really hot in this video bc hes makeup for the show(mis) is falling down his cheeks but just a lil and when he talks it always makes me wana faint, especially when he was hugging his dad and took out his this around his neck MADE ME WANNA FAINt, i wish one day i can meet them or i wish i was like their lil sis...and they can tease me be there for me! awwwhh i lovve him and his bros!
@yankdiz to expand on what your saying, yes. He did destroy this concert, If it werent for alfie boe, norm lewis, and ramin karimaloo, this concert wouldve truely sucked
I just saw les misrables last night got it from ttunes. there's no chemistry between jonas and the girl who portrayed eponine. no chemistry at all. if you check lea and michael ball there you go thats chemistry. and his voice not really strong but thats 2 years ago. maybe now.he improves. just my 1 cent.
