Nick Kroll's humor relies more on funny dialogue than visual jokes. And the part of this video that's actually funny (I mean agree or not) is not the captions but him talking throughout.

His deadpan descriptions of each cartoon are really amusing to me. No clue why

The first one “Well he’s got you in talent, so you’re really going to have to nail the swimsuit portion”

I love how people dislike this video apparently out of a misguided expectation of this famously sarcastic comedian taking this challenge seriously. He won't. He's going to riff and put intentionally bad captions. And it's hilarious, and I want more of it.

Watching these segments makes me feel sooooo much better about my level of comedy/humor. Even the greats get stumped by basic stuff and need a writing staff!

The brand is so strong that seeing the caption in the NY font makes them funnier.

for the first one i was thinking “you think nobody gets hurt in politics?!”

They should reveal the original captions at the end of these segments. That way we can see what the cartoonists intended vs. the comedian's interpretation. I know it's for the caption contest, but they could do previous cartoons or cartoons about to be published.
