Nick Land is a controversial figure within the 'Dark Enlightenment,' a neo-reactionary movement that rejects democracy, egalitarianism, and Enlightenment values. Land's philosophy of accelerationism embraces the rapid advancement of capitalism and technology, believing it will destabilize the current world order, paving the way for a new era ruled by a technocratic elite. Land's ideas intertwine a fetishization of technology with anti-democratic, deeply inegalitarian, and often racially tinged views. This episode explores Land's disturbing philosophy, its historical context, its potential appeal within a world of rapid technological change, and why it represents a dangerous threat to the core principles of a free and just society.

I don't understand the genetic component of the argument considering that genetic modification is something we can already do and will likely be commonplace within a very short timeframe (next 100 years or so). What importance could genes play in a world where you could just choose your offspring's genes (if that term still applies after significant modification) from the start, and given a far enough look into the future, You may even be able to modify your genes from day-to-day. In that world concepts like "elites" just don't make sense. In fact, taken far enough even the entire concept of individuality or groups would simply break down.

Well, when you consider that more determinant of our outcome as humans than our no more than 30.000 unique genes are the 3.000.000 genes from our microbiome, the 5 pound of microbes that live within us, and how they interact with our genes, it’s not so easy to see how can gene manipulation be the single way for us to became more capable of being part of this ruler elite.

You assume that the technology would be available to the masses.

Only the rich will ever have access to those technologies. That leaves the working class to be forever genetically inferior and eventually will be domesticated to the point of inability to think critically and will seal the fate of the working class as “non” humans and will be enslaved
