Rattlehead 00:00 Hook in Mouth 03:46 In My Darkest Hour 03:53 Devil's Island 04:01 Peace Sells 04:56 Good Mourning/Black Friday 08:19 Holy Wars... The Punishment Due 09:11 RIP Nick!... / menzajamz
Nick is literally a metronome and it ain’t easy to play like that especially in metal you have to be really strong especially your legs he makes it look so effortless R.I.P.
His drumming before the middle solo is just fucking amazing man. He is one of the few drummer that can add tasteful touch and little groove/swing to harsh ass metal drum lines man so he is kinda underrated for sure.
He was an amazingly real down to earth dude …no bullshit attitude with anyone..especially us fans …No over the top Ego or Celebrity entitlement….chatted with him lots right up till that night…day after my Bday…still lookin for some kinda reason …he was playing like he did when he was 21…at 51…never missed a beat he didn’t mean to….ever!!…and hit so hard with wicked fast precision …and Loved his family and us fans more than we knew. His playing…to me is instantly recognizable from anyone …he is a str8-up Hero in a lot of ways…and just kept giving us his all till the end…Thanx Nick…”Your just RAD man!! 💯😎
Rust in Peace, Menza! What a man to have behind the kit. Metallica probably shit their pants when they heard Rust for the first time (and I’m a huge fan of them, especially AJFA...)
No he was not. Compared to Menza, he was lacking the dynamics so needed for Megadeth thrashy heavy metal. And was playing a lot of fills differently at the expense of songs played live. Can be heard on that Live album with DeGrasso.

Some people can simply wake up one day and without warning decide they wanna be a drummer for a top notch metal band and go find the group get hired and emediately bring the style, the look, the skills and of course some pioneering some good shit along the way..... all the while remain one very cool cat. That would be Nick. Resistance to acknowledge it is futile. Fan forever.
have you seen the videos of dirk playing some of the songs from the first 2 albums, he nails all of them and plays them exactly like gar. you can appreciate menza without degrading another amazing drummer
The band fell apart when they kicked out Nick. He was a huge part of their sound, and it shows on all live videos when compared to every other drummer they've had playing the same songs. No one else since has had the same energy that he brought.
Mustaine should have paid him and Marty whatever they wanted to do the Rust reunion. Just watched that show and it pissed me off that they went so far as to copy Nicks rack kit. Too bad as good as those 2 are they did not play those songs correctly. Saw Megadeth on Youthanasia. Just a incredible show. When Nick came out during the end of "Train of consequences " and played. I remember watching that like it was yesterday. Not to mention the fact NO ONE has correctly played "Holy Wars" on drums since. That little double kick before snare hit is constantly missing. As a huge fan of drumming it is the little things that extremely talented players like Nick do that set them apart. Like a signature guitar tone is. Mustaine had musical gold with that lineup and replaced him while recovering in the hospital. Other than Ozzy and Sharon Dave has screwed almost as many musicians R.I.P. drum god. Up there with Bonzo,Moon,Castillo jammin for the angels. So so glad I saw him live.
Only today’s Dave knows that he messed out with that reunion, i guess that he still thinks in a possible “what if” could happen if it all went well, but that will never happen again sadly
Man, watching him play double bass drums on Peace Sells makes me wonder (amd I’ll have to look it up) what bass pedals he used. Such speed. I noticed his foot is is low on the left one in the clip.
I can't drum to save myself 🥁 but I just wanna know how the fuck drummers have so much energy to drum thru a whole concert..🥁⚡ I think I'd be fkde halfway through the first song 👀 lols
