Ebert wrote about Cage and I remember distinctly what resonated with me. Ebert wrote that Cage above all other actors possessed a fearlessness that is a level solely his. He will GO FOR IT. Has he made some shit? Of course. Is he one of the greatest actors ever? Of course.
He might have been in some trash, but he is always the best part. Plus he just owes a lot of money to the IRS so he does whatever he can lol still best part of the movie.
@@tomatkinson4880 yeah a paycheck. And it also is just more evidence of how confident in his talent and fearless he is. Many would be devastated that people would mock them. Not Cage. He does not care at all what others think of him.
Mandy and Pig are absolute classics. Nicolas Cage is the man. I hate how so many young people today only know him as a meme and not the great actor that he truly is.
Crazy thing is, it was always kind of like that. I remember in 1998, when I was in college, saying in my film class that Cage was one of my favorite actors, and everyone looked at me like I was crazy. Then someone gave me a lecture on how Cage will never be as great of an actor as Jason Lee.
The best part is how you can tell the brothers apart the second they’re together, simply because of their confidence. Cage gives TWO brilliant performances.
I need to rewatch adaptation because I love Nicholas cage and I thought that shit was stupid when I initially watched it. Maybe everyone else is wrong but I'm starting to suspect I'm stupid
That's a very gay thing to say indeed. I know because I'm gay. We're all gay, including James Whale, Nick Mullen and Nick Cage (he plays the most glorious gay, of course).
I really love the point about him making nearly anything he's given kind of work. I suppose that is a better judge of talent. The script is barely finished, the budget sucks, but god damn it Nic will find a way.
@@ihateallthethings2683 Stav was always pursuing the standup career where the other guys were not as committed. Stav seems to have hit it big and was moving on from a potential Nick - Super Bowl commercial incident. The shame of it all is Stav is funny but Nick truly is like a generational talent in comedy. I hate the overuse of the “genius” label but he deserves it. Hopefully he is able to figure it all out and maximize his talent/be proud of his work. Adam is a good friend supporting him. Stav did give a shoutout to Nick’s recent special but who knows what happened behind the scenes. I DID SEE Nick’s standup recently and he was great! Maybe Stav’s success will motive Nick? Greatest comedy podcast ever! Hopefully they reunite before the AIDS.
I don't love every piece you upload but I'm eternally grateful you do it anyway. As others have expressed this is our favorite bake sale by far. Thanks champ.
I love Nic Cage. I learned about Leaving Las Vegas through another C town ep and its one of my all time favourite films now. He really is a one of a kind actor.
When I saw that I dreamed of drinking myself to death while hooking up with Elisabeth Shue..she is so damm hot in that movie ..I am drinking myself to death but I hooked up with Pornhub instead unfortunately
Omg same.... Except me and nick have been best friends for years now, though I would say, just FYI that nick doesn't like people fawning on him like ur comment, I've told him so many times that people are just appreciating him but he's insistent that he's got enough friends now so there's really not much point in any further communication from you to him... I'm gay btw
Raising Arizona is my favorite comedy. He’s great in that although the coens brought a great film to him. Also an older one he’s great in is moonstruck. I still need to see Mandy and Pig
I watch your channel and a lot and I also listen to a lot of Cumtown clips, and now those two great things have come together. There is great audio from old actor's studio episodes, for instance james lipton talking about spielberg's parents to spielberg
This is an incredibly based take. I've been saying this for years; Nicolas Cage doesn't phone-in fuck all. Every time he has a role, he's got some odd but wholly unique angle to go towards. You watch interviews of his craft and he says like "Oh I was watching a bird flew by and I thought what would it be like to be a bird," or "I am a big fan of German Expressionism. That's where I wanted to take this role." They may be odd to some of us but the guy has an idea and goes for it. That's respectable. Also, you're gay.
i think it was Lord of War & Bringing Out The Dead that convinced me just what a POWERHOUSE performer he is - capturing all the rage, all the quiet, and all the beauty in his eyes (yeh, im def gay for him)
Im not much of a movie guy but I saw Bringing Out The Dead and Leaving Las Vegas recently and both were good. Bringing out the dead wasn’t as good but i still liked it quite a bit. I saw nick cage in national treasure and in Kick-Ass when I was a kid. Im gonna watch some of the movies you guys are all talking about , ive been missing out on this little universe
I'm thinking this dude had quite a bit of expenses and thus took a bunch of jobs. Trying to get away from his real name probably made him take more risks in the spirit of proving himself on his own terms as well. I don't know, I just love "The Rock" as much as I hate "Face Off".
Nick Cage has always had good performances (Raising Arizona Leaving Las Vegas Adaptation etc.) but hes chosen some dogshit scripts. And lets be honest hes been pretty shit in some of his movies. Like hes legitimately made like twenty horrendous films in the last ten years. And being the best part of a bad movie doesnt make your performance commendable. Dream Scenario was legitimately a terrific performance (something were really not used to with Cage due to the shear inconsistency of quality of his films) and was a reminder he can actually act
Even if Adam is a drag, cutting him out and just listening to Nick for several minutes with 0 breaks in between sucks. This format sucks but if people watch it who am I to say anything. I’m hitting the “don’t recommend channel” button so ✌🏻 hopefully you realize how to make the clips better though
For anyone who's truly interested in some of Adam's more admirable work, might I recommend ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-M2qjay5e2xI.html&t
Tried watching color out of space and it was just so incredibly lame and trashy overall. Cage was really great though and he totally went for his role. Otherwise complete shit.
Mullen's an improvisational comedian and stumbled for an uncomfortable several seconds trying to think of three random kitchen ingredients... C'mon JWBS, let's leave this lazy CumTown B-roll to their channel and stick to revealing, original analysis from talents like Hader and Louis C discussing actual film theory/technique. Stavie's laugh track can't save the mumbled meandering from adding up to net zero insight.
