1:30 Nick unironically describing Mace Windu and the use of Vapaad without knowing he's referencing the only well known black Jedi in a rant about how it's fun to be a little racist is peak Cumtown
I kinda feel for Nick. His views on race are incredibly nuanced, and actually pretty thoughtful and not at all racist. But he does a helluva racist chinese accent.
That’s kinda the just absurd irony of CumTown. They don’t claim to know anytning & are somehow more rounded than most media heads. Shit R/CumTown was somehow one of the most sane places on the internet. RIP
@@EmpureMedia it's kinda hard to see without all the context of listening for a while. Without the context, Nick is super racist. With that context, he clearly likes the people he makes fun of
All of this exists just as much in the music industry. People really think "oh I've just gotta do a bunch of free work until people respect me enough to give me $100 a spot" and if you ask to be paid cause you have a day job that fucking kills you so your free time means something, people are like "wow do you even care about the art bro, you should be playing cause you want to". People will never treat artists as professionals until they start viewing it and working at it like a job
People are less likely to pretend that they "respect" people when it comes to things like money. If nick being more honest when it comes to humor makes him a possible problematic guest to have in a shithole like DC or wherever, on a show with some senator, i could see why adam's connection would be smarmy about it. Most of the people with the money to host or distribute entertainment don't know or care about the entertainment as much as the money, and it's a part of why they have the money. It's like the financier owner of the Red Sox, a baseball team, selling their best player, Babe Ruth, for extra cash to prevent the team from losing money anally. To him, it isnt a good gamble to have Babe on the payroll when it doesnt guaranteeably make him money. To the team, to Babe, and to everyone else, it looks like a cheap dick move. But if he werent a cheap dick, he wouldnt be in the business.
"notoriously unreliable" is exactly what idubzz said about Sam Hyde and it's the same intention behind it. it's just one person being mad about some political shit and making up some more legitimate sounding excuse as to why they won't associate with them.
Not at all, it’s about wanting to avoid a media circus. Nick is funny and honestly I don’t think he’s notorious enough for it to be a problem but from the perspective of an event organizer I can understand wanting to avoid hungry media outlets looking to tear people apart because they’re working with a problematic person. That goes fucking quadruple for Sam Hyde.
@@Adam-tu1lk media circus??? Is it really worth it to not book a popular act just to avoid some angry tweets? Nonsense, they just value that specific crowd over having a more successful event, and that’s pathetic. Like who gives a shit if some people will be mad that nick mullen showed up? I guarantee that somebody in charge is just an angry, self-absorbed ideologue and it doesn’t go any deeper than that.
@@CheddarDrip A bad article is a big pain in the ass and can reflect poorly on the event organizers. Whenever there's money involved "media consciousness" is considered. Getting sponsors for events is harder if you have those kind of dumb media circuses surrounding your event. The organizer might also just not want to be associated with anything that'll put a negative spotlight on them or their work. Or they could be a brain dead ideologue. I'm just pointing out there are probably fair reasons somebody would turn down nick mullen.
Finding out Nick has been on Fox has had a lesser but similar effect on me as seeing Dave Brockie on Fox. CumTown is the GWAR of podcasts. Gotta go for max offense and I love it.
GWAR BABY!!!!! RIP Dave. Bless the boys left shredding in honor. Lmfao didn't think I would ever read about gwar in these fuckers comments. Much less anything that wouldn't be "Nick's autistic. I'm gay" comments.
Starwars literally stole that good guy sith idea from Nick with Kylo in the new movies. Atleast i think he turned into a good guy. I didn't watch those stupid pieces of shit.
@@juwebles4352 right because I must be a right winger if I dislike chapo. couldn't be that they're just obnoxious and stupid regardles of their political leanings
@@chickenandksivideoreviewer9739 I never called you that both the republican and democratic parties are corporate run, and I was pointing out nick is actually friends with them so he doesn’t care about the same shit as you vis a vis whatever you hate about them
Hassan Minaj's stand up special wasn't even comedy, just an anecdotal TedTalk with race jokes that are "safe" to laugh at cause he's the one saying them in a self-depricative manner; but still in an attempt to teach you a lesson. The fact that comedy specials are these days mostly consist of that kind of material is lame. You wanna have a one man/one woman show thats intended for deeper thought? Fine, but ffs dont call it comedy
@@richardricardo802 that's right nerd, be afraid of my indomitable gay frame. I've taken all kindsa peen, pal. Think yours is any harder? Hah. I scoff at the idea. Now if you'll excuse me, i have to go back to spamming virtue signal hashtags on twitter for brownie points
Nick and the boys are awesome. But too big of a risk of them talking on air about business dealings. This clip being a prime example. The nerve of these guys complaining about not being hired and then naming names and being like "Yeah, we love fucking people over if we feel justified."
Pretty sure they accepted they’ll forever be shunned by big companies a long time ago, and talking shit about them makes for great comedy, and every other podcast is afraid to do that, so it sets them apart. They’re good unless Patreon decides they don’t like them
I mean to be fair if you’re just upfront and not an annoying bitch about whether or not you want to hire a Risqué performance nobody would care For example: if they just said “Yea Nick is funny but his comedy is a bit too harsh and I don’t exactly trust him on stage where my neck is on the line sorry” it would be polite and business like, perfectly understandable It’s seriously pathetic because literally what happened was this person was too “woke” to even dare mention the fact that ANOTHER person says some pretty politically incorrect things. Why say Nick is Unreliable? If you think he’s racist say it’s because of that. That’s the main thing that bugs me about it It’s perfectly reasonable and fine to disagree and even dislike Nick for how he presents himself. But to be so cowardly as to not even address the real reason you wouldn’t want it hire him is pretty hilarious And that’s why it’s funny for them to riff on it because it’s genuinely so ridiculous. They obviously don’t need the money and do it because they enjoy it so it doesn’t matter if they get hired or not but it doesn’t change the fact that the dudes wording was ridiculous and rude I mean he had the audacity to essentially talk shit about a podcast to one of the people on the podcast without even realizing it. He deserves to be made fun of
@@eshanroveran7850 Your individual points are probably correct in some regard. But you're missing the big point. No one is perfect. If you have a career or high level business dealings and the guys with the megaphone decide anything from that your dealings are poor to X to Y to Z to even just that you're a dick...well, now you've got a problem on your hands. It's a little like Norm's Mangrate scenario. Hilarious but do you really want to advertise with him if that can happen? Or even do business really? Love Cumtown. Love Norm. Love Patrice. But the risk/reward factor for what the boys are asking for is out of line.
@@eshanroveran7850 Think of it right now: You know absolutely nothing factual about the situation. Nothing. You purely have the accounts of the people telling the story who are engaged parties. In that process they named names of individuals and business affairs. And now you have a negative opinion of those people without researching it further or even questioning if it's a one sided account. They need to get their shit together on this front. For one, it's not fair to the individuals who don't have a chance to respond. Also, it's bordering on legal issues. At a bare minimum they should keep an eye on it because people such as yourself do not have the discernment to know the line between casual loose dialogue in context of a comedy show and a serious allegation. Love these guys. Seriously. They're borderline heros for what they did in these recent culture wars. These are just lessons people learn as they grow. It's not a death sentence. But it is something to be understood the next time they are curious as to why they're not getting certain work. Also, I realize the comedy of writing this anonymously on the internet. Physician heal thyself.
@@johntallanger4036 nah but in general you’re right sure But keep in mind them acting like this is what makes them great to begin with. Id rather the boys kill themselves then become respectable businessmen who aren’t dickheads to woke retards in the industry
