Nickelodeon Commercials from June, October & November of 1984. These Commercials ran between episodes of "You Can't Do That on Television". Does show some rare bumpers along with a few clips in the bumpers of "Reggie Jackson's World of Sports". A Elgato Game Capture HD Device was used to transfer the information into a computer.
The quality of the video is dependent on the tape itself. Sorry for the poor quality of this video. The VHS tape was in poor quality and I'm lucky to get this much data off of it.

Nick had many mottos in 1984-1990s, "It's what you want!", "Nick is Kids!", "The first kids' network!", and of course, the Nickelodeon jingle mnemonic.

what a trip down memory lane this is. Feels like a blessing to see this. Thanks for posting. I remember why i was terrified by the third eye. That intro inspired many good nightmares.

I think I watched all of these ads and bumpers back when they were on the air. I was four. I might have looked for the Nickelodeon or logo on some of the broadcasting (Think that clip from You Can’t Do That on Television where it appeared to come out of the canon) and been disappointed it wasn’t there. I don’t really care about the time quality. I’m just glad any capture of these ads is still around. I wouldn’t even expect any of it to be available in Nickelodeon’s archives.

Both Orange and silver ball Nickelodeon logos on various promos and bumpers.

that’s because the channel hasn’t fully rebranded to the splat logo until 1985 the channel was still in the silver ball logo but various splat logos kept appearing

1984 was a transitional year for Nickelodeon

@@SuperSpaceGirlHDTV Correct. Fred Siebert and Alan Goodman formed Fred Alan,Inc and broke off Nickelodeon from Warner Amex after they had brought MTV from Warner Amex in '83, after a successful Transitional period, Fred Alan joined forced with Viacom and MCA Television to form a NEW IPO christened "MTV Networks,Inc" on April 16,1985 and begin public Trading on October 1,1985. Also in '84, Nickelodeon became Open Circuited and a Basic Cable Channel, No longer premium. Effective Friday June 1,1984 at 6 AM EDT. 9 AM PDT. 7 AM CDT.

Were the silver ball and the splat logo used interchangeably through 1984, or was there a cutoff date? I was only 10 years old at the time, but I still love the silver ball.
@VHSRecordings
@VHSRecordings Год назад
Yes. During the 1984 year they were slowly starting to move towards the splat logo and away from the Silver Ball. I HIGHLY recommend checking out The Pop Arena's Nick Knacks series on RU-vid for more information but the quick answer is this was when change in management happened between Silver Ball and Orange Splat era.

the orange splat logo was introduced on Oct. 1st, 1984 and the shapeshifting claymated Nickelodeon ID between 0:00-0:02 was introduced that week Oct.1-8th I remember that ID back in April 1993, i also notice commercials that aired on Nickelodeon, Oct 2nd that posted by youtube channel cDCB2 too

Whats the date this is from? I saw the orange splat at one point so was this the first day of the orange splat where they are still airing the silver ball in places?
@VHSRecordings
@VHSRecordings 2 года назад
I'm not sure of the date as the tape had multiple episodes of "You Can't Do that on Television" recorded at different times but we know the whole tape was from 1984 where the silver ball and orange splat were airing at the same time.
@gabrielbennett5162
@gabrielbennett5162 Год назад
Yeah, between 1984 and 85, they were in the process of phasing the Silver Ball logo out in favor of the now-familiar Orange Splat. I have a few hazy memories of seeing the Silver Ball when I was very young.

Why was the orange bump there when Nickelodeon was the marble?

This was the period of time when they were doing both logos. I'd highly recommend watching "Nick Knacks" by Pop Arena for a detailed look into the channel. He goes into detail about the change in the early 80s.

Were you not paying attention? There's Danger Mouse in this video (but no original cartoons, that wouldn't happen until 1991)!
@gabrielbennett5162
@gabrielbennett5162 Год назад
They had cartoons on Nick back then. In addition to "Danger Mouse," they also aired "Count Duckula," "Mysterious Cities of Gold," "Star Trek the Animated Series," and, for a time, even various Disney animated series such as "DuckTales" and "Gummi Bears," among others. As Video Kunn mentioned, the original NickToons like "Doug," "Rugrats" and "Ren & Stimpy" didn't come out until 1991.
