For the people in the comments, Nicki performs like most every other MALE rapper 😭 none of them dance & most don’t have elaborate sets. it wasn’t until the last few years that ppl want RAPPERS to do full out choreography & theatrics during performances bc the lyrics have become so unimportant. Real rappers have to RAP & control their breath & yall want them dancing be fr.

It was clear that the performance was to make a statement and I need all the focus on me when I make a statement... You have to understand the the intent and once you do you'll understand how that was one of the best female rap performances ever in history. It's not just visual it's symbolic and inspirational. And the crowd went crazy from vms audience to the audience on social media all the way to the audience on the couch. Don't discredit a very legendary performance that you don't understand.

Those songs didn't need theatrics. LTTISY is an intimate song about her that's why it was just her on stage. It was giving vulnerable and sensual, period. Not every performance needs backup dancers to distract from the artist. The snippet was delivered like the real MC that she is. And, yes it was a perfect contrast to her 50th Hip Hop anniversary performance, she's a versatile artist and performer. She did her thing! LTTISY is a B-side track, not a title track, that's why there's no MV. It's an album promo ahead of the release in 2 months. Also, Adele just stands and sings for hours without sets or dancers but people will pay big bucks to see her in love. Let's not box Nicki in as one type of performer please.
As a barb, her performances need to be better. Even Beyoncé gives theatrics w her intimate songs. People don’t watch celebrities live just to watch them sing or rap. Give a performance!

Sometimes you can stand alone with just a mic and your talent and people will appreciate. She gave several different approaches in each song. Plus it was too much going on that night for more performances.
It's okay for people to be underwhelmed by just standing alone with a mic. It's not saying she isn't talented, but in comparison to her other performances this one fell flat. Even Mariah Carey has people carry her around the stage so she isn't just standing there. She could have given a bit more to make it more entertaining especially since it's a slower song. After watching several high energy performances this one broke that and was slower. So you would expect to see screen visuals, or plays on lighting, her moving around a bit more or having dancers to move for her. There were a lot of performers but most people tuned in for Nicki.

She sounded amazing she was singing live the notes changes was different and you hear her breathing on LTISY and only needed a mic and kept me engaged the whole time and then when we got to the RAPPP
