I just wanted to give a quick 6 month update on my Nicks Tactical Boots. These are probably the best boots I've ever owned (including my other Nicks boots). If you're looking for something that can take abuse and still be super comfortable, any of these Nicks boots with the new rubber sole and 360 stitch down construction would definitely fit the bill. Thanks for watching!

A fix for your sagging kiltie is to move the holes up to the second hole on your boot lace hole, which would slide them upward and look better imo

Amazing...I have the same pair, down to the Ironlaces, black eyelets and padded leather collar. Been on mine for a year (security guard so on my feet all day) and no major issues (other than finish on the eyelets/hooks). Rose anvil sells kilties with slits in them to prevent that "kiltie creep". Thanks for the tip about the Spenco insoles.

Yeah, these boots are seriously awesome. I may have to pick up a pair of the Rose Anvil kilties. It's nowhere near as bad in my Urban Drifters as it is in the Tactical boots, but that pretty much comes down to the leather. Either way, no regrets with these boots. They're expensive, but worth it. Thanks for watching!

Thank you for the content. Not many reviews on the Nicks Tactical. Looking forward to the 1 year review. I’ve order a pair in 1964 black. Been waiting about 2 months. Your review definitely helped with the purchase. Thanks again for the info.

Great insight into a boot I have not heard of as well as an honest opinion. I have a pair of Danners that I have had for a few years and I like them a lot for hiking or working in the garage.

My last uniform boots were Danner EMS, but they were discontinued and really not happy with their Assails due to squeaking (aka boot farts).

I think resoling those will also require a new foam layer, cuz the foam will be torn up bad when you pull the rubber off. My advice is to wear them until you actually wear out the tread in the ball area of the foot, don't worry about wearing through the rubber on the heel, or wearing into the foam, it'll stop eventually once the boot matches your gait. I can tell you, it's way harder to resole a boot than you might think. Send them to Nick's or a good cobbler, it's not worth messing with. But if you try it and screw up, you could send it off to be fixed haha
@EvanK2EJT
@EvanK2EJT 7 месяцев назад
The foam is actually part of that sole. The actual sole is attached to the rubber midsole. As far as resoling the boots goes, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. These soles are just glued on, so replacing them would be pretty straightforward. I have all of the tools to do it. That being said, we'll see how these actually wear and go from there. I'll probably get several more years out of these current soles, so I'm not super worried about it. Now, the Urban Drifters......yeah, there's a zero percent chance I'd resole those myself LOL.

The rubber outsole should def be thicker for that common heel weardown

Yeah, that's the one complaint I have about these boots. That being said, I'm coming up on one year with them and they're not much worse than they were at 6 months.

Thanks for sharing! I’m on the fence. I’ve been using dinner Acadia as my primary LE boot about 5 years now. They’re great, but I can’t help but wonder how much better the nicks are. This helped a lot

Fellow LE here. Honestly, I don’t know how some guys can stand doing chases with such heavy boots on. Let alone getting bodily fluids on them when dealing with a body. I would cry. But I’m cheap and just stick with the 5.11 Speed.

@1malikalik 5 месяцев назад
@@LastNineBreaker Danner Arcadia are unbeatable. The Build Quality, Simplicity and Lightweight are superior to any tactical/combat boots ever made. It's infact the Official Boot of the U.S. BORDER PATROL. And those border agents abuse their boots in foot chases, climbs and patrols in rugged multi terrain of the southern border. Also, the Arcadia is highly favored by the USCOAST GUARD. Nothing beats the Arcadia. It's a versatile boot. Ideal for tactical, hiking, workboot, and PT.

Danners are great boots and my agency has many that wear them but I found the last is too narrow for me even in wide. Foot chases have left my feet hurting for days. I ordered Nick's since they offer wider fits and munson last.

I have the exact same boots & I love them! How long did it take you to completely wear/break your boots in? I’ve been wearing my boots every now and then for about a month of wear or so and these boots are still extremely stiff and difficult to wear for more than an hour or two before I need to take them off. Thanks for the video and information. Cheers 🍻 John
@EvanK2EJT
@EvanK2EJT 6 месяцев назад
I was able to wear them all day right out of the box. These boots broke in very quickly compared to my Urban Drifters which took months of wearing to break in. Everyone is different though, so your experience will be different. Once they're broken in, they'll be extremely comfortable though. Thanks for watching

Remember, I'm on concrete all day, and I probably walk 15k steps a day, so that's really not too bad. It won't wear as well as the Vibram 100, but it's infinitely more comfortable, so it's a trade off.

You don’t need to cut the kilties. Both boots you have are doing that (wearing ones and the tactical). Easiest way to fix it is take the lace coming up from the eyelet and bring it across and under the opposing eyelet around the lace coming up from the kiltie then up to the next eyelet. Then lace as normal. When you pull the laces tight it will stop the kiltie from slipping down.
@EvanK2EJT
@EvanK2EJT 5 месяцев назад
I'll give that a shot. Thanks!
@patriotfox7192
@patriotfox7192 5 месяцев назад
@@EvanK2EJT I hope the description made sense. I have also cut slits in the kilties but the only time I do that is to stop them from sliding to one side or the other. Two of my 6 pair either slide down or to the side or both. Haha. The other 4 pair they just seemed to stay put.

@@EvanK2EJT awesom. After the first few wears you might need to go back and tighten the cinch around the bottom eyelet to get them exactly where you want them. Over time they might mold to the boot and then stay with the regular lacing.

You should never wear boots two days in a row, but give the leather at least one day to rest, with a shoe tree inside for drying. Have at least two pairs and rotate them.
@EvanK2EJT
@EvanK2EJT 2 месяца назад
Easier said than done. I can't justify $1200 of boots to obliterate at work. You're not wrong, but it's not feasible for most people
@brushemteeth9159
@brushemteeth9159 2 месяца назад
@@EvanK2EJT I can understand that. In the end, it's like buying Nick's boots itself. A big investment in the first place that not everyone can afford, but because of the durability, it will pay off on the long run. Rotating your boots will significantly increase their lifetime.
