There a few who are trying.... the problem is we get distracted with outside style and forget we have de original ting. Now they take up our stuff and a mek nuf money and lef we wid trap crap.
WHERE DO I START? 1. Nah lie...Wolfman delivery was TOUGH. He reminded me in some ways of an early Kartel. His voice was strong as hell and his lyrics were vivid with the Bad Bwoy Living lyrics. 2. Ricky Stereo....what a lyricist he was...the man counteract the town talk WELL. Creative!! 3. Stitchie...one of the greatest to ever touch a mic out of Jamaica. Nutttin more fi say bout him....hes a legend. 4. Cutty Ranks...bun down the place... LOVE THIS.
16:08 Cutty inna Gunman Lyric style! Wicked concept, dancehall was full of creativity in these days, from the production, the selection, the lyricism, the fashion...aaah bwoy.
Dancehall is more than music. Music is just one element of Jamaica's roots-rock cultural identity. That identity has faded considerably and has been hijacked by some bleach out face drug heads.
Big Head, when I edited this video back in the 80s, it was mainly to bring some nostalgia to those in the Diaspora and for others to see the beauty of Jamaica.
@@LeoOReggio Also I just realized that you have a video of Chakademus singing a song about that Ghost Rider fella. He must have been really famous back then.
Many people forget how bad Wolfman was back in the day on Stereo One Sound. Nice video that captures the essence of dance hall where live entertainers would throw lyrics before getting big on Stage Shows or before making records. Big up Cutty Ranks/ Demus (RIP)
Dem dayz deh even bad man tune u would see man an woman a whine. Pass round d challis, bomboclaat. Nowadays not even girl tune no whining nah gwaan, man a dance wid man an woman a tongue woman.
RIP Cliffy. Triple D TV, Cliffy was one of the few, out of many sound system owners/promoters I knew, that I had a close relationship with. A real down to earth and fun brethren. Big up Grants Pen, St. Andew.
Blessings Llewelyn, yes Clifton was very down to earth and very good cousin to me .He helped me with my schooling.I’m now 60 and Clifton was my best man at my wedding in 1990 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
