House and Garden is one of THE best designer channels..It really deserves more subscribers. Much more than those supposed design channels that only has boring formula of white, black, grays, wood plant.
Love all House and Garden videos; they are informative and a pleasure to watch! I wonder if Nicola had a bit of advice for those of us who have an open plan kitchen in a rental. Please!
Black (and other very dark colors: indigo, forest green, brown) on walls is dramatic and sophisticated, whereas on midsize pieces (sofas, chairs, case goods) it seems to create a hole in space - particularly against light to medium colored walls. I've seen it work with printed modesty screens to create a visual transition between the light and dark.
An Island that is open at the bottom will help the room feel bigger. You can use the additional space to create an open shelf for serving platters and trays. I hope this helps
Just don't live in a townhouse, where the stove is on the wall that meets between units. You certainly don't want to add a sink, to be staring at the wall! Somethings cannot be changed. I'm just pleased I do have a peninsula and a fireplace in my kitchen!
This is a video about style and design. I should be seeing much less talking head and much more images. What's the point of me looking at her talkin about visual ideas on a visual media?............
