Okay but can we just acknowledge everything that Nicole has been through from the end of season three POSSIBLE SPOILERS So the end of season 3 she gets fatally wounded and almost dies. Then Waverly proposes but she doesn't get a chance to reply before she then gets drugged at the table. Only to then wake up alone on a moving train with no idea where Waverly is. Then after fighting zombies she falls and breaks her leg thus meaning she has to watch Wynonna walk into the unknown - leaving her and Rachel to possibly be murdered by zombies. Then with a broken leg she has to try look after Rachel while defending the homestead from demons and trying to find the others. But loses her job and believes Nedley is dead. Plus she is now being hunted by some monster that she needs to try kill. Only to find out that the monster she was trying to hunt and kill for 18 MONTHS is Nedley!!! And just to top all of it off Wynonna then gets kidnapped her first night back even though the homestead is fortified with all these traps (and you KNOW she's gonna blame herself for that even though no part of it is her fault) Give the girl a break!!! I love Nicole but it is so sad seeing her hurt like this. Props to Kat for killing it though
Absolutely. Not knowing where her love is for 18 months is horrifying. Imagine the trauma, losing her new found family for so long... Damn!!! Katherine Barrel is such a great actress, her expressions and emotions are so raw and on point it's shocking this show and cast is underrated.
Season 4 was the hardest season to watch and was that hardest for Nicol, she went from a brave and out going sheriff to someone who doesn’t believe herself anymore

It actually hurts to think about her transition from a super confident Sherif to when she herself described her as crazy ginger bitch. She must have gone through so much. Kat is just killing it this season with her multifaceted acting. Absolutely love her.
Such a beautiful video, perfect song choice and Kat? Hands down. Everybody rocks in this show but Kat raised the bar, her acting is outstanding this season. Seeing Nicole so broken breaks my heart, makes me wanna hold her until she's ok.
this so sad for all. we hate that our loyal rock is broken and sad. we know she will return because her love for waverly and family will help her recover. until then we have faith in emily and her writing staff to save us all. love this show that keeps us begging for more.
I was already a full on emotion ball before watch this. Gosh this hurt. A lot. But wow the song just really fit everything she’s going through. Nicole in ep 3 last night shattered me. She’s NOT okay. And i’m hurting for her. This is such an amazing video edit. It’s rare for one to bring me to tears but you did that. Well done! ♥️

Oh what a perfect song to Nicole’s arc in Season 4. That’s an appropriate term to refer to her condition. Paralyzation. The ability to feel but still feeling nothing because you’re too afraid to feel anything but dread. That’s exactly what paralysis is like. I’ve been there. The only positive emotion she appears to express during these moments in her arc is love for Waverly. But all the while expressing it, it’s like she can’t feel it herself. Like she’s in some sort of state of depression where what was she gives out can’t be received back. It’s actually really difficult to watch her arc this season because I don’t think anyone truly understands what’s going on with her. Not even Rachel, who lived it with her, because she didn’t have the personal bonds that Nicole did. So it wasn’t a great loss for her. She had to bear this great loss of her loved ones all on her own. Not even sure whether they would come back home. Not just the loss of the love of her life. But also her found family. Her entire support system. Her heart. So imagine having them all back again and at that point she is in such a state of paralysis that she can’t feel because that loss was so ingrained into her body. It would have taken months, if not years, to feel again. Like I said… she can give it out. But she can’t receive. It goes back to the mantra I always carry with me. That it’s not what it is that matters, it’s how it feels. And I always say and repeat this mantra because what is “real” isn’t something that can be experienced when your ability to experience it in the moment has been affected by the trauma of past experiences. It’s like your brain gets rewired to only think of what isn’t real. So even when the greatest things are happening to you, you cannot feel those things because you’re lost or stuck in a place and time that isn’t even there. And yep - that’s how I interpret Nicole’s arc in Season 4. While it makes her a much more compelling and dynamic character to watch, it also makes her an empty shell of a person to connect with. It hurts to see that her found family - especially Waverly - can’t get through to her. Can’t help her feel love and happiness. She is in a constant state of paralyzation. She can’t move forward because her presence is in the past. And that’s what deep loss and grief and fear does. It pulls you out of any engagement with here and now. You have to essentially rewire your brain chemistry. And you can’t do that on your own. It’s impossible. It’s a form of depression but a misunderstood kind and therefore one of the hardest to combat and heal. Sadly, I don’t think Waverly ever truly realized or understood just how hard it was for Nicole to be without her for 18 months, 3 weeks and 4 days. There are moments throughout the final season where she says something, completely forgetting that the time difference for Nicole was so much longer than what she experienced while in the Garden of Eden, so she doesn’t ever think or stop to think for a moment and realize that she got the better end of the situation. To her it wasn’t so bad. Even felt good in some ways. But for Nicole… to be without her or really anybody,.. for a whole year and a half. That’s truly traumatizing. It’s actually sad how much Nicole becomes like Wynonna in that final season. With the constant anxiety and need to protect. Feeling like she’s failing all the time. Having no control when everything just goes to shit around her because she’s without the one person that knows how to calm her. To steady her. No I don’t think Waverly truly understood that. And Nicole will make sure that she never does. WAVERLY: “Well, you seem okay and sane and safe. So, I forget to give you the completely-nuts update.” When in reality - the woman was falling to pieces just trying to keep everything else together and standing. All without the woman that was that support for her. And if you watch that love scene between them, you can feel it in her body - her energy - all of this anguish. Yeah, for Waverly there was still desperation to feel - to touch - to connect. But for Nicole it was such a reunion because it felt like an open wound left there for months finally receiving appropriate treatment. You could viscerally feel all of that in Nicole’s energy. I don’t know what it is guys. I just pick up on all the emotional stuff more than anything else. The love scene is obviously a very physical scene but I just get a whole tsunami of emotions coming from Nicole. All this grief and pain and desperation all come at once. It’s a beautifully done scene but it’s difficult to watch because of all that I feel from it. From Nicole’s side.
This is amazing! I feel so much anxiety for Nicole in the coming episodes 😒 she deserves some peace! Such a loving character and you captured her perfectly in this. I've never heard this song but together with the clips it's haunting!
Alex! this is amazing! you really captured the emotional journey Nicole went through in season 4 and I just wanna hug her so bad and take away all her pain. I genuinely feel like this song was made for her storyline this season and you put it all together perfectly. Well done!
Gosh I wish we got to see more of Nicole’s ptsd and struggles because there was so much depth left 😩 we only scrapped the surface with Nicole and her story and there could have been an avenue for awareness there
I think I have a theory about Eve... here goes... Main points: - What are the rules for Eve's ability to shape shift - Does Bulshar still hold significance - The Clanton symbol on the door is linked to the garden using Doc because of his history with the Clantons... what does this say about everyone who was ALLOWED to leave - What significance do the books now hold now that they are out of the garden. So, when Eve left the garden, she was Jerevey, however she had also been Nevole and Wyeva...so.... A) Could leaving the garden have limited her powers to the forms she used whilst being in the garden, B) Is her power able to imitate humans and other living things, does a connection have to be established in order fir her to be able to immitate her chosen victim. B1) Is the victim aware of the fact that their form has been borrowed/ immitated - I.E unexplained memories, dreams, paralysis etc... whilst the form is being used. C) Is she trapped in the ghost river triangle since the Clanton sign was above the door, binding anyone who comes through the door is binded to the Clantons... D) Does Bulshar have anything to do with any of the things she said she was p***ed about... and id Bulshar linked to Doc through the venom that Doc extracted from Wynonna's neck. D1_ He had a serpent like nature, like the snake in the garden, he was thrown out of "the garden" he was trying to get back possibly to either Kill Eve or partner with her (remember she took interest when Waverly said that they had defeated him). D2_ Bulshar bit Wynonna, Doc extracted the venom, Doc went into the garden, found Eve, founght with Eve... Eve may have been able to shapeshift because Doc is the one who saw her Eve, he is a Vampire and theirfore has a supernatural ability... he said that... "he is the weapon", through bulshar's poison and his proximity to Eve, was this how she was able to mimick the people that Doc would want to see... but then, why did Eve choose Nicole to immitate first, why did she then choose to immitate Jeremy after, and then Wynonna. Perhaps this has something to do with the fact that time moves differently in the garden and that by this point Nicole would have been an ideal candidate as she was not going to be entering the garden, Waverly would want to see her and Nicole is smart. Jeremy may have been selected because he is a much loved friend of Doc's because of his dorkiness and persevearance, wynonna was probably selected as a last ditch attemot because Doc "cares deeply for" her. Assuming Doc is the anchor for Eve's ability to imitate his loved one's... E) Alternatively perhaps the names on the books explain at least why Nicole was the first face Eve chose, Waverly chose the book which had 2 out of 3 of the names that Eve mimicked out of the 4 books avaiable, (Nivole and Wynoneva) of course Jeremy wasn't one of the books Waverly saw BUT he has the gift of FEELING the emotions of those near to him... and since Black Badge is strongly linked to the garden, perhaps the link is there. Nicole Haught, Waverly *Gibson*, Wynonna Earp and Doc Holiday... were the books. well... 3 of them were truly in the garden...Nicole's ring got into the garden, but if Nicole's book was chosen it would give a decent explanation as to why she was the first form Eve took. F) Nicole was only immitated (Nevole wasn't wearing Bulshar's ring, but real Nicole threw Bulshar's ring through the gate (the real Nicole doesn't have the ring now). So does the ring establish her connection in the garden if her being immitated has nothing to do with the books or Doc, and is linked because the ring was gifted to her by Waverly who is the hald angel tasked with keeping Eve imprissoned. The ring is both a link to Waverly's father and Bulshar but she gave it to Nicole. HAVE I MISSED ANYTHING??????????????????????????????????
Kat Barrell has been amazing this season on Wynonna Earp. She has been asking for years to explore Nicole's dark side and I think Emily listened and finally gave her the chance to show how great she is. I hope when we get to see season 4 B that Nicole is still battling with PTSD, because it doesn't magically disappear and it's also something Kat (mental health) is always discussing on panels. So yes, season 4 was totally a Nicole Haught shit-show (she was AWESOME) but this is OUR shit-show.
