Been playing a bit of Zenless Zone Zero. Noticed some threads talking about Nicole having hidden inputs, but couldn't seem to find a comprehensive list of all of them, so I figured I'd make a little video!

This opens up the door for a lot more flashy combos and character mechanics. Who knows how many other characters have hidden things like this?

Nekomata has some hidden tech as well such as extra damage from back attacks and a 33% chance to do rapid slashes and an instant teleport attack.

Okay My KEYBOARD Gang! I think I got it, first off, to practice this move, go to VR console, free training and once you are in battle, change the option to the enemy so it doesn't attack you, and has unlimited HP, also change your energy to unlimited too. Now I recommend binding your Ex skill to mouse 4 or 5 as well (if you have buttons on the side if what I mean) to execute this (because by default, the skill button is E so it is REALLY hard to make a full circle while holding E at the same time) after all you have to do a full circle of WDSA or WASD while holding the skill button, so it goes Hold EX ability (in mouse 3) + WDSA + Release Ex

You can also trigger it through her charged normal attack. It's a bit cluncky but if you do the WDSA input when she starts charging she sits in on the cannon and it also consumes energy. The interrupted mode also works the same

Also something that you can try is remap your movement keys to s d f, that way you can move e to a. Allowing you to hold down a while doing the full circle with the other 3 fibgers. Btw if you can also map w to spacebar you can make the full circle input easier by just pressing a s d spacebar I havent tried it tho

thanks bro!! u just need to get the grip of it but it's quite simple when you get the right timing you can hold left click when charging using the normal attack, but using a mouse button for the ex def helps to do the final combo, would totally recommend you to bind it (i've put it along E so i can still mash to get the right timings for others agents)

personally, I don't really think so. It's like figuring your stand heavy punch can be held down and released early or fully. Nonetheless, it's cool they have it

I was doing some stopwatch testing. Nicole's M1 makes her energy field last longer the longer she charges her EX Special. if you enter the sitting animation during her held EX Special, it will actually extend the duration of her charging animation. If you time it well, you get about an extra 2 seconds of duration on the energy field, plus some extended muzzle AOE damage. 2 seconds doesn't sound like much, but the duration of her energy field is about 4 seconds, so it's around a 50% boost in duration. This is also a de facto boost to the uptime of her passive, which goes from about 7.5s with energy field to 9.5s.

I did some testing with keyboard and mouse, and it is easy with the default key bindings. (Sitting on suitcase combo) While holding left mouse button, press W - D - S - A in quick succession. Keep holding left mouse button. (Sitting on ground combo) While holding left mouse button, press W - D - S - A in quick succession. Release left mouse button.

would love these for more characters. a few more hidden strings/tech have been found, i think for anby. i'm willing to bet a lot of characters have unlisted moves and special inputs tho

Only thing I've found with Anby (they kinda cover it in her tutorial stage) is if you do her auto-combo sequence (ATK ATK [ATK]) she gets that unique finishing attack. They also tell you that you can get her EX Special move to come out sooner if you use it after the third hit of her auto-combo string - idr if they cover it but you can actually put those two together, if you do ATK ATK ATK SP(or EX SP) and then another ATK after landing, she still does the unique finishing attack!

So basically releasing the skill button when the circle flashed can give you instant ex and dash cancelling it for damage This game is SAUCY!

Yeah! I noticed to that doing the self-inflicted knockdown of it, and then immediately dash attack cancelling the knockdown almost always prompts an assist as well!

I play with nekomata and sometimes you can completely remove the stun (or recovery frame/animation) after an attack by dashing in the same frame of the hit, like EX skill: exactly when the colorful X animation of the attacks shows up, nekomata should touch the ground and then continue but you can skip that by dashing. But I'm still not sure about that

@@quartzeye8329 there is another character (I don't remember the name), the girl with a hammer-axe that has the special move of spinning like a beyblade till u stop pressing the button, physical type, btw while spinning you can dodge and parry without needing to stop the attack, yes it's very strange: your character dodges while spinning with an hammer

Ok this is actually genius on so many levels. While this is mostly just an animation change, let’s say they want to add a new character that has alternate moves. Normally when designing a game you’d just add these new moves to a new button, but because of mobile Hoyo is likely sticking to the simple 2 button attack layout. Not to mention, even on controller most of the button space is taken up. But if you want to make characters with new moves and abilities, instead of adding a new button, each character can have unique motion inputs like fighting games. It’s strange to see motion inputs work in a 3d space but this proves that it can work. There’s already something similar with charge attacks on characters that have button hold mechanics, but imagine a character that has a completely different attack if you do an input.

There HAS to be more hidden inputs. Unless i need to finish a fight quickly as a requirement, i always try to finish the fight stylishly and ever since i learned that nicole has this hidden input i’ve been trying to use it as the finishing blow.

I would honestly be more surprised if Nicole is the only character with hidden inputs. I wish it was explained in-game though, like an "advanced moves" menu or something. I don't think this is explained in-game anywhere, although I could be mistaken because I only read Nicole's skill descriptions once when I first started the game and at that point I didn't really know what I was doing yet.

I play on mobile and I keep wondering why Nicole sometimes sits down or stands up while releasing her skill. Might try to experiment later

Hey, first guide I've seen since playing the game, I was very used to QTE characters thanks to PGR, Wuwa and HI3, it's interesting that's there is a delay mechanic tech with i-frames instead of just dodging, this'll help diversify my playstyle, looking forward for more guides!

I would love to see this in a team! I noticed Nicole tends to hold her black hole a little longer when you make her shoot a black hole and then switch to someone else.

I've been using her pretty much whenever Ether is recommended - she seems versatile enough but usually I'm using (DPS of choice) + Koleda + Nicole. Koleda to build stun fast, then ending the chain attack on Nicole, and if I have EX & Super I'll use Nicole's super then charge SP & release early, dash attack cancel her knockdown to get a hit on the enemy - which prompts an assist for the next in the lineup (DPS of choice) then swap them in and do their rotation while the enemy is debuffed by Nicole's Ether field + taking the extra stun damage!

Whoa. First off, this a cool find. Does this happen to be explained somewhere in-game? I wonder if other characters have this too. Second, nice editing. It really felt like I was watching a character tutorial for a fighting game. Especially with the Auto Attack Starters section.

There were several threads on different websites talking about Nicole's hidden inputs since the game was in beta, not sure about other characters though. Honestly, I'm surprised people even found this, I don't know where to start looking lmao

But corin hold attack is not considered "hidden" because the tutorial teach you, while nicole sitting on her suitcase animation is hidden because the tutorial didn't tell you that

I wonder if there is something like this for Rina. Rina, as a character, has the amazing ability to move while attacking cause she's a puppet user, the problem is that if you enter a parry with her, she can end up doing a bowing animation that takes away a lot of DPS time. But sometimes, I don't trigger that bowing animation, so I wonder what the tech is.

If you do the full charge when she's sitting the Ether Field lasts longer, and if you do the version where she gets knocked down you can dash cancel it and cycle through to your next rotation more quickly

I did test this out on mobile this morning. It absolutely does yeah! I don't have Ben unlocked but I did notice during some of the trials that his EX SP has a dashing variation (I think?) I managed to get it a few times but I couldn't get it reliably.

It astounds me how people think this stuff is tech. The nicole thing is literally an easter egg animation change on the basic function of the kit. And everything else being mentioned in the comments are literally the basic functions of the respective characters the game teaches you in the agent part, or just stuff from extra copies. This will 100% lead to the same people flipping into "ZZZ is bad" because the depth they imagined with these is literally nonexistent.

almost nothing, unfortunately, because doing a full circle of WASD or AWDS or anything, while holding E, is the clunkiest thing in the world. if you can, you can try rebinding E to a mouse button if you have additional ones, but ZZZ doesn't detect my mouse buttons when I try to assign them so that doesnt work for me but maybe it'll work for you lol

Full circle motion on keyboard would be wdsa dsaw sawd or awds. You'll have to piano the inputs to make sure you're getting the diagonals (probably?) but it's quite awkward considering the default bind for special is on E. I'd imagine rebinding it to a side mouse button would help with that.

@@quartzeye8329 yep to you both.... E and having to do both is impossible unless double hand... Just normal attacking and doing wasd or (asd) alone is also super inconsistent. The only applicable part would be from a neutral charge to a sitting one, getting more charge damage out of the tech but otherwise I guess this is just for flashiness cause I spent so long in training and could not figure out the timing or it's that wasd is just super inconsistent. Sucks.

Lengthens charge time if fully held, can be swapped to from standing charge for a longer duration (forgot to include that one) - and if you do the dash cancel out of knockdown version you can resume attacking faster

Full circle (as a motion input) just means make a full circle motion with your movement keys. So by default on a keyboard that would be: WDSAW, DSAWD, SAWDS, or AWDSA for clockwise circles or WASDW, ASDWA, SDWAS, or DWASD for counter-clockwise circles. You could think of it as how you'd run in a circle, just while holding the EX Special button down.

This game has a good amount of fighting game terms, but i really doubt the gameplay will have more depth to it. The only character wich requieres a little bit more skill than just mashing is Soldier 76.

The reasoning for me to skip Ellen and save for Zhu Yuan is so I can play her with Nicole in a fun Ether team. Suck them up with Nicole and then rain them down with Zhu Yuan’s Ether shotgun shells.

@@alb7466 you do get an i-frame when you do the uncharged version of this variant. Can be used to i-frame thru an attack and tag someone in without Nicole getting hit.

Looks like they do different damage too. For me: Normal special tapped muzzle flare/impact: 165 (Lasting field, 78/tick) Held muzzleflare/impact: 165 (Windup: 82/tick, lasting field 78/tick) 360 tapped: 413(Lasting field: 78/tick) 360 held:382 (Windup: 76/tick, Lasting field: 72/tick) (numbers collected using a 377 atk 5% crit 50% crit dam LV10 Nicole with 2* lv20 Vault versus lv10 Hati in training room) Edit: Also worth noting, for keyboard input, you only need to input WDSA-- You don't need to input back to W. Delay your circle input slightly and try to do it as she brings the case down into normal charged attack position (If doing this using held M1).

Practice it out of dodge counter; it's barely delayed after the shot and often lets you get both impact hits (Which are really meaty on the tap 360). Looks like it could also have some utility with turning dodge counter into a long string , since the sitting animation could be used to avoid the rest of the attack string.
