"Lotta Love" was written and recorded by Neil Young before Nicolette Larson's version was released as the lead single from her 1978 album 'Nicolette' 🎶
Man! What's up? I've been playing this song over and over again the last weeks, after losing track of it the last three decades; It came back in my life big time! And now I see it uploaded everywhere and recommended to me all the time. I guess it's gonna take a lot of love to get out of this duality thinking dominated, evil current times! And it's gonna take a lot of love for me personally as well to watch all the sadness unfolding the coming years I feel. Lots of love to y'all!
I was 19 on an aircraft carrier in the Mediterranean Sea and when this first hit the ship 10.000 sailor’s stopped in their tracks, It was beautiful then and always will be
Good tune indeed, but I've got to ask; why would Ike have more than double its embarked complement? You must be including the crews of all the escorts? Now I'm picturing all the 1MCs of all the frigates, destroyers & auxiliaries tied in with Ike's & playing this tune- that would be wicked awesome!
My last g/f Heidi passed away from the same thing at 45. She was a drinker and hit the bottle hard after her dad passed. I miss her most out of anyone who I've been romantically involved with.
If you happen to be over 55, still alive, and with musical memory intact, very few songs will make you miss your teenage and young adult years like this song. RIP Nicolette. 💔
@@charlenemack7040Me too. I was preschooler but I never felt so comfortable in a time than I felt in the late 70s. It was such a warm time. I had babysitters that were teenagers at the time and I remember thinking they were the coolest people I ever knew even till this day.
As i am 59, the 1970's had the best music by far. every genre was amazing with real musicians and not some repetitive musical formula like we have now.
THE STRINGS, THE FLUTE, THE SAX, AND OF COURSE HER VOICE JUST SAYS IT ALL. JUST A BRILLIANT SONG. HER HAIR AND HER BEAUTIFUL GAP IN HER TEETH, MAN, SHE WAS DYNAMITE!!!!!
I was in the military when this song came out and we were pretty much sure that music had taken a wrong turn and basically sucked... Then this song came out and changed everything ❤
WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE WAS A BRILLIANT MUSICIAN AND A GORGEOUS LADY!!!!!!! HER HAIR AND THE GAP IN HER FRONT TEETH WERE ABSOLUTELY BEAUTIFUL!!!!! So sorry 4 your family's loss.
I’m 62. Fond memories of a time warp. This song was originally to be performed by Neil young but he let Nicolette Larson perform it pretty much as a gift. How nice of him
Neil Young did perform this song there is a video of him performing it floating out there and it is awful beyond awful thankfully she did it extremely well, singers do deserve a lot of credit and this is a perfect example
I remember back in 1980 when I was having a bout from moderate depression a lady friend dedicated that song to me on the radio & I happened to hear it...that moment saved me.......
Embora tenha se passado muito tempo é sempre bom ouvir ou ler boas notícias. Espero que continue bem. Algumas pessoas são anjos em nossas vidas. Quem tem um amigo encontrou um tesouro.
This song is still radiating love & positive vibes in 2024! Believe Nicolette would like Rozalla’s cover of this classic, released for Valentine’s Day 2024!
Coming home from the hospital after my beautiful mom had passed, I sat dazed talking and listening to music with my kids. This special song was randomly playing repeatedly , we didn’t know why , but we fell in love with it and sweet Nicolette. Gone far too soon but in paradise. Love and miss you Mom , so very much ❤
Better songs, better musicians, better times... 😢 Missing all that... the pure, authentic feeling of the 70s... human beings with real faces and real talent. ❤
The sound was so good. Better equipment, better musicians, real singers with no autotune artificiality. Im so lucky i was a kid in the 70's. Total gold💛
True, she passed too young, nevertheless, she remains in our hearts, her songs will never die and she´ll always be remembered. Lotta Love to Nicolette Larson!
She was such a naturally beautiful woman, inside and out. Her voice was quite unique too. This song still stands the test of time and will continue so...
Yes indeed! Always love this song! Was in high school in Calif. and our local radio played this constantly back in the day like every hour which I don't mind at all. Like you said there is something special about this song. The instrumentation, the melody, the words, Nicolette's singing was just beautiful thru and thru!
Well said Max! I was about to post something along those same lines, but you said it as good or probably better than I ever could! Those days were great weren't they? I miss them.
What a beautiful voice, and beautiful lady. Her hair was her crowning glory too. Just stunning. R.I.P. Nicolette Larson thanks for the music and beauty you brought to the world ..❤❤❤🎵🎶🎧🎤🎹
I am 53 years old... my mommy just turned 76, my father just turned 77....this is ALL of our favorite song.....we were so severely upset when we found out she passed!!! I am THRILLED that I got to know her music!!! What a beautiful woman, what a beautiful soul, and WHAT A BEAUTIFUL VOICE!!!!
@@kristivaught2511 @tarst etc COME ON NOW DONT BE A DIP SHITTTT WHY YOU WORRIED ABOUT HER CALLING HER MOTHER MOMMY IS IT BECAUSE YOU CANT 🤔BE NICE OR SHUT UP ‼️ LIKE THE SAYING...,...DONT SAY ANYTHING IF YOU HAVE NOTHING NICE TO SAY 😁
RIP Nicolette Larson, married session drummer RUSS KUNKEL in 1990 and had one daughter, Elsie Mae Larson Kunkel. Nicolette was also a Maid Of Honor in Valerie Bertinelli/ Eddie Van Halen's wedding in 1981. She passed away in 1997 from a brain bleed.

Nicolette Larson died on December 16, 1997, in Los Angeles, California, as a result of complications arising from cerebral edema triggered by liver failure. She was 45 years old. According to her friend Astrid Young, Neil Young's half-sister, Larson had been showing symptoms of depression, and her fatal seizure "was in no small way related to her chronic use of Valium and Tylenol." Two benefit concerts were held in Larson's honor in February 1998. Tribute concerts were held on the 10th anniversary of her death in December 2007 and also the following year.
She suffered from liver failure which was caused by alcohol, Valium and Tylenol PM. This caused her to go into the hospital where she had her seizure shortly after.
Neil Young wrote and was the first to record Lotta Love. Nicolette Larson listened to a cassette Young had recorded the song, and she complimented Young how much she loved the song. He told her to keep the tape and the song was hers to cover. The rest is musical history.
Right on !...I was a big pharma rep traveling from Iowa back to Illinois when I first heard this great song in 78' and it has always continued to be a favorite ! db
I grew up listening to this song since I a teenager. Now that I am 57th years old I still enjoy this song even more. This song brings back so many memories of my youth. It is truly sad she is no longer with us. She had such a beautiful voice.
THIS GIRL HAD SUCH A NATURAL GIFT . PERFECT COMBO OF TIMBRE AND GRIT TO HER BEAUTIFUL VOICE ...SHE DIED WAY WAY TOO YOUNG . SHE AT LEAST IS CAPTURED IN ALL HER GLORY IN THIS BEAUTIFUL POP TUNE FROM THE 1970'S .KIND OF IN LOVE WITH HER VOICE AND EARTHY GOOD LOOKS AS WELL. TED TEMPLETON IS ALSO A GREAT PRODUCER AND THE GREAT MUSICIANS WHO PLAYED ON THIS TIMELESS HIT SHOULDN'T BE OVERLOOKED EITHER ...THIS IS PURE 1970'S GOLD ....THANK YOU NEIL YOUNG FOR WRITING THIS GREAT SONG AND ALLOWING NICOLETTE TO RECORD THIS ....HER VERSION WILL ALWAYS BE ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS ...SO GLAD THIS PRE MTV VIDEO EXIST ...
That sax, though. Some of the best I've ever heard. You remember that hook and tone the rest of your life. His name was Andrew Love. Sounds so 1970s and yet timeless.
I love this time in music the artist got on stage and sang, no dancers no auto tune no nothing but a band and a song. This girl could sing I remember this song on the radio all the time in the 80's.
This song, and everything about it, is a masterpiece - Nicolette's voice, her sexiness, the horns that jump in at exactly the right moment! You can tell a song is great, when you never get tired of listening to it. Certainly the case here..... As soon as I hear those horns, it takes me instantly back to the late 70s, when I was in college. I'm still enjoying my life now, but those were good times. For the young people out there, sorry, but we grew up with the best music. No doubt about it. Our bad years were still far better than your good years!
She was only 8 year older than me, and she was a beautiful woman, That beautiful long hair, to bad she passed away to soon, I would have Loved to get to know her better and her music.
@@wheezvonklaw284 That is pretty much my point. The 70s and early 80s was pretty much the last generation where artists were truly artists. They wrote their own lyrics and music, they played the instruments and could sing just as well live as they did on their recordings. Nowadays they lip sync. , don’t play any instruments and do not write their own lyrics. Music has changed into something that is no longer music. Rappers use a record as their instruments and pop stars use auto tune and then have to lip sync. Even country music sucks these days. It all sounds exactly the same. There is no individuality or originality. Today it’s about selling a face instead of an artists abilities or talent.
What a dynamite song sung by a beautiful lady. The opening sax, flute and sax at the bridge, and her voice just gives me goosebumps and such a good feeling. How I love this song! ❤️ RIP sweetheart. 🙏😢💔
I wish people sang like this today. I watch the singing contests on TV like The Voice, America's got talent, American Idol. And they don't sing like this, it's different. They add too many flourishes and acrobats and I don't know what else. Why can't people just sing a song just straight forward. A Pure voice and singing.
For anyone who was in their "Youth" when this song was on the charts you know exactly what was goin' on- God Bless You Nicolette for bringing so much Joy and Happiness to all of our Lives :)
That sax just adds a powerful movement to a wonderful song by extremely talented singer who left us far to soon. What a complete group of talented artists. This song never gets old
@@raccoon874 that definitely adds to the background music. I guess that's how you would say it. It's a great compliment to the song might be a better way to say it.
She by far had it, and beautiful! I’m over 68 and it still gets me every time I hear and see her perform this song! RIP Nicolette.❤️🤍💙🤟👨🚒☝️🙏⚡️💥✨😇🎵🎼🎶🎼🎵🎶🕺💃✌️= be united with JESUS, BORN AGAIN, (Jn.3:3;5)
I’m an old guy. This is just one of hundreds of great pieces of music from my younger memories. Music was such a great thing back then. She was great! I had a huge crush on her roommate, Linda Ronstadt.
My father lived in Pakistan for the first 13 years of his life - this is one of the songs he used to wait by the local stores radio for, it reminds him fondly of his childhood. He then moved to European then Australia, played this song from then till today. Music is powerful!
