dreadrath Lots of Routes A and B foreshadow Route C. There're the suicides at the factory when 2B/A2 return later with Pascal, the game beginning with black box detonation, 9S getting a virus at the end and then someone dies, Pascal having his speech on machine unpredictability in the same spot he'd later cast away his pacifism out of fear for the children's safety, the Copied City and the Tower sharing such visual similarities, a battle in the city ruins causing a change in the geography (the giant hole in A/B, the Tower growing in C)... there're definitely others I noticed but can't recall at the moment.
Everytime I hear 9S' haunting line "shut up, shut up, shut up!" makes me cry everytime. It's been more than a year and it still does make me cry. His pain is just too realistic.
That was a great ending, though I have to admit I laughed a little too hard at Pod 153's quip about "Being alive is pretty much a constant stream of embarrassment"
@@MrShazaamable because it's the same cycle over and over. You always make the same mistake over and over, which is very embarassing. We just replaying the failure, as if the failure is like the object itself (like 9S said).
truly very talented guy... i never heard he's voice in another movie, anime or game, but damn, he a damn good voice actor. obviously there is another story in which he are soliciting someone. I'm looking for it, he must be genius with his voice in something else.... In my country he very unknown synchronous sound, its so sad, I rarely hear such talent like he...
"Ha ha ha... HA HA HA! So what?" "It doesn't matter. NONE OF THIS MATTERS! ..But if it doesn't matter, why do I long for humans like this!? Why do I desire the touch of something that no longer exists?!" "shut up, shut up, shut up SHUT UP!!!" Maaaaan. best voice actor ever (from the moment he crossed the bridge seeing 2B being killed, actually)
9S-s slow decent into madness is one of the most well written and tragic stories in video games. "Halt all logical speech and thought. This order shall remain in effect until you confirm the death of myself, or unit A2." Like, that is such a simple yet profound line that captures the embrace of existential absurdity.
sebamk Not exactly, metaphorically they do but the 9S and 2B that are revived are still the same ones we met throughout the game, just given another chance at life. There's actually a concert script detailing what happens after ending E. If 9S doesn't go on the ark, he never wakes up, and 2B sort of shuts down forever in constant mourning. If 9S did go on the Ark, his data is somehow transferred to his body, and the two get a presumably happy ending.
LightAndDarkMdness02 fuckk thank you sooooo much for commenting this. I never knew the concert expanded on the ending. Now i feel bad for not going to the ark and trying to be romantic about it with 9s script.
He was weak. He lost his love, it sucks but it happens everyday to people, but you move on. You miss them but you keep going. Others will say "He lost his purpose! It was all a big lie!" Yep, cry me a handful. Why are humans here now? Does everyone believe in some higher purpose? No, by and large humans make their own purpose. Usually its daily routine for survival and we try to have a little fun when we can. If we are lucky we create extended purpose by passing on our genes and knowledge to children and others. Or we record it for whoever or whatever in the future can use that knowledge. 9S could have created a new purpose but he was to mentally weak. Personally I would have preferred an ending with A2 beheading 9S.
@@user-zf4qv4mu3p thats why its a good decent into madness, everything he's know and loved has either been taken or was reveled to be a lie all within the span of like a week. his, lover, best-friends, people he trusted, all gone like that, even someone who is mentally strong can only handle so much and for so long and so quick, and what purpose can he make knowing that it will all be for nothing and that none of it even matters. not to mention he was infected with a virus that messes with his logic of thinking. u don't have to like 9s while in this state and he's in the wrong but his pain and loss and the pain of some average everyday person is not comparable
@@user-zf4qv4mu3p"we move on. We keep going" ... such big words. I know what they mean in fact. It's called the survival instinct. The core biological mechanism of all living things, humans included.
You know what's more painful, if 2B is actually serious about this, A2 just pierced 2B's sword into 9S. She has all of his memories in there. If A2 actually stabbed 9S with her sword, I think that small laugh from 9S before dying probably hints that he actually realized that killing A2 actually killed 2B and erased all what's left of her all together... Until Pod 042 and 153 rebuilds them again.
I think it is more than just 9S slipping and falling onto A2's/2B's sword, what exactly it is I can't be certain about but I think it is 2B in some way wanting to save 9S from himself and the logic virus and somehow willing 9S to slip up. I mean 9S isn't a combat type model so he may have very well just slipped but after going through the whole game without making any mistake like that I find it odd that he would now of all times.
He's more falling on the sword than slipping. When jumping on A2 and stabbing her, you see she lifts her sword (not to kill him, just because of her fall), and he impales himself on it. He's so blinded by revenge that his own life was less important and he didn't even notice the sword.
According to an Q&A with Taro in the Japanese guide, swords have very little space on them, 2B probably had just enough space to provide A2 with the context to her dysfunctional relationship with 9S, and why she wishes for her to protect him, after all the shit she was forced to heap on him. Taro said it to shoot down implication that "She's" in the sword. Also, 9S might not be a combat model off the production line, but unlike other Androids who are programmed with their skills, this bastard actually trained and has self-taught himself sword fighting over his countless incarnations(the ability was deemed beneficial, so it wasn't deleted along what made him, "him", whenever 2B killed him, quite the opposite - it stacked up and became more and more refined with each successive incarnation). If him just plowing straight through the horde 2E spares and standing up to A2, despite, if supplemental material is to be believed suffering from upwards 80% system corruption from the Cyber-AIDS he contracted from 2E arm is of any indication. Then, whether you're a Combat Model, Executioner or Machine Goliath - an unhinged 9S, who's cut loose and is fighting with nothing to lose, is NOT someone you wish to cross blades with.
TheKain202 I recall in one of the Novelas he actually kicked 2B's ass, and 2B was forced to use a virus to paralyze him. 9S just keeps getting better and better with every incarnation, so 2B started to have to become creative with how she killed him, like tricking him to do certain things and expose himself to viruses created by the Commander.
The reason why Yoko Taro does video games is that there's a lot of things that you can do in the video game medium that novels or movies can't do, which is why his stories flourished more using the video game medium. Though Taro has done a manga story before, forgot what it was though
Xavior Evans He's written novels, a manga, am audio drama, and a stageplay detailing A2's backstory that also has some techno rock music based off of WWII battles. He's done a lot of shit.
I will admit, the final boss being a battle against the game's final credits as you refuse to accept the ending is perhaps the best idea for an ending I've ever seen in a game.
I don't how, or if its even possible, but I hope someday in the future we get another sequel and see more of what happens in this world. Automata is such an incredible game. I love how they did ending E too. It was bizzare, but also very cool.
I think ending e is great and a direct sequel will very possibiliy ruining it so if they do it id prefer it to tell a story about other Android that exist before or way after automata
Oh no...you have been infected by the "Let's-go-back-to-the-roots" virus. Analysis: Virus saturation at contaminated regions of the brain at 99.9%. Proposal: Retract the desire of another sequel. Let us end the possibility of an active continuation. I love the game but man, Nier:Automata is already a title that won't be needing a number/anything fixed next to it. Let your mind pave the way for the future of ending E :)
Omega's Save File died for your sins. "Praise be unto his eternal mercy, for his holy combo's shall grace those who follow the light of bogus" Book of Brooklyn 3 : 13
"my damage worsens, i start to lose my memories, the space fills up with pure white light, its like being buried in snow. its a little cold, a little frightening... :( will my soul disappear? "
Poor little 9S, little did he know that his god creator - Yoko Taro is perfectly alive and well, and his soul - the players will live on for quite a while keeping his memories safe.
I love how the theme of unending cycle is also reflected in the dialogue with Pod 153 saying the sane thing 2B said at the beginning of the game (although a little different)
Wow... just wow, this game blew me away honestly both of these ending routes plus route E are just phenomenal, props to Platinum games for developing a game like this. and here I thought the Bayonetta series was the best XD.
Most of that credit goes to Yoko Taro, Platinum just handled the gameplay which is very important no doubt, but the creativity, characters and story are all Yoko Taro.
It really is. The pathetic squirming, his cries of agony, and the complete lack of any other sound like music besides the disturbing squishing sounds. I'm typically fine-ish with gore, but that death made me cringe.
Remember when I got this ending. .... I cried... I cried uncontrolably.Without shame or emberassment.I put down PS4 joypad and cried alot. Even I can't understand the meaning behind this ending in the first place or I'm a man. ... I just cried....
But in that ending A2 dies, at least in ending E she's rebuilt. Although now that I think about it that may not be necessarily a good thing for her since it's obvious she's tormented by her past...
Wait... The way Omega made his choices, [E] ends with both: 1) 9S joining Adam and the machine's memories in the Ark, and 2) 9S remaining with 2B as they are reconstructed on Earth.
Nythrain In a scene from the play written by Yoko Taro, which takes place after ending E, it actually describes two endings (good and bad). If you choose to go with Adam, 2B wakes up first but can't recover 9S' memories, so she cries over his body for eternity. If you choose to stay, they both eventually wake up.
Even now while watching this, so long after playing through this for the first time, I'm crying. I really hope these strong feelings will never change nor fade.
Which story did you like better, Nier's or Nier: Automata's? One tackles morality while the other tackles the meaning of life and being human, but I personally liked Nier: Automata's story better, especially because of Ending E.
I think I liked the Original's better, mostly cause the twists and turns were more fresh to me back then lol Here they were kind of expected. Gameplay is obviously won by this game though, can't go wrong with Platinum :p
omegaevolution I lobe Platinum but for some reason... I.... actually enjoyed the original's combat more lol. I felt Automata is too easy and flashy combos were not useful?
Hi Omega, just wanna say thank you for everything. I found out about the original Nier thanks to you, and I love it to bits and pieces. I was so happy when they announced this sequel and couldn't help it but watch other youtubers' gameplays first. But here I am, volunteer to be on the feels trip again because I feel like owe you a lot (and because your gameplay videos are all high quality of course). Thank you for introducing me to this great great series and I hope to "see you around".
9S was right, you know: he was right that the disgusting lies had made a mockery of their very existence. The only exercise of freedom left would be to destroy the whole rotten foundation. 9S was the only heroic figure in the story.
Well A2 seemed to know too. But that wasn't at all what he was doing. 9S was after revenge and nothing else. Ironically, just like A2. Both their goals was to keep destroying machines until they themselves are destroyed. An endless one way revenge quest.
@@anxiousearth680 A2's inability to understand that their very existence was a mockery is why she is not the hero like 9S is. 9S alone recognized that everything they fought for, all their aims, were lies, and that their endless suffering in the pursuit of this goal--in his case, his repeated death--was not only meaningless, but an insult.
I was in such hysteria during the final missions that when 9s got stabbed with A2s sword, I couldn't help but laugh. So much suffering happened in this game, and to top it off the ending I chose "rewarded" my choice with that. Such a beautiful and tragic story.
Preferred ending. I haven't played the game but i guess the pods transferred hopefully their souls along with the repairs. hopefully they realise that they dont need morale to fight for the humans but realise they in themselves have become their own race and should fight for themselves. live for themselves and enjoy their life.
If I do the ending E, choose to help, then start over, the game understands that I already did the ending E and let me win the Transcendent Being trophy without doing this ending again?
Ok so I was having a tough time with the credit part and seeing that others people's data came to help made me so happy and sad but im sorry I just can't part with my data at the moment to help anyone 😭😭
isnt weird that 9s close combat mode in game he just keep throwing cruel oath like an boomerang while in cutscenes he uses the cruel oath the normal way
hence why he gave us ending E, which is garbage. D was objectively the best ending, everyone dies and the moon base is destroyed. But there are surviving androids (non Yorha) and machines who exist, to forge a new fate.
Although i feel so bad for 2B but i sympathize with A2 , she had to kill 2B to help her , 9S was cruel with her , he even didn't try to listen to her , he was wrong about that
It probably only just looks like blood but serves an unknown function (we know its different from real blood because of the mackerel item desc. calling it fluids which congeal when androids eat mackerel). Looking like blood could've been done on purpose too since the androids want to model themselves after humanity
Since I bugged Emil's quest, I think I'll just delete my data and beat the game again, since i was really looking forward to 100%ing this game until I found out I the quest bugged out and wouldn't let me finish it.
That doesn't work, if it did, I would have tried that already lol. What happened is that the game is counting the quest as completed in terms of letting me not redo it, but its not counting as done in terms of quest completion, and even if it did count, the game wont let me open the elevator with the key to enter the secret room. It's in my inventory and wont go away. The quest is bugged as I cant redo it but I also cant complete it. The only solution I've been able to find is either reloading to a save before the bug is triggered (from what I know, I triggered it by finding the last lunar tear in the city right before you enter the flight units to fight the goliath) or just restart the game.
Don't worry, I had the same problem, but is not bugged, you still can do it. Just make this, go to a chapter playing as 2B where you can already find Emil running near the desert area entrance. Speak with him. Next, you should go the shooping mall area (should have a quest mark in your mini-map, if I'm not wrong) and find the first Lunar Tear flower in this area, then Emil will appears and will speak with you about the flower, so you will start the quest again. Even you already having they key of the elevator, you will need to complete the quest again to allow the key to work.
Just tried this out, thats so strange. I've talked to Emil before at different locations at the same selected chapter before trying this and the quest never popped up. Thanks a lot for this by the way, I spent at least 2 hours searching for any forum or anything for people who had this issue. Didn't think the quest was specific to that one location for Emil. I guess they made the elevator locked to the quest rather than to the key itself, as I believe the quest as a whole closes up once you fight Grun. Well this fixes like the only issue I've had with the game, and thanks again for saving me like 30-50 hours of replaying the game back to where I was lmao.
Man... Needs to take the GOTY :p And... By dying countless times... He actually wanted to say zero :p (because you haven't died a single time) :p This SURE is added to my wishlist!
I finished it with A2 So which ending is better?? If I choose C can I get my 2b back 😭 Idk because those 2 little Robot were carrying arm and some stuff so Is 2b gonna be fine ??
This... its just crazy... in all the ways... as good as bad as kind as selfish as calm as wild as immersive as intuitive as real and false. I did not expect less for the end of this.
