Well my friend it works like this: 1) new game created(all aspects are unknown) 2) interested players spend hours playing and discovering characters, tricks and eventually glitches or cheap-outs(gimps) 3) if the game is popular enough..these discoveries will be displayed on forums or tournaments. 4) finally with all of those things in consideration tier list are finalized and metagame has been established. After that, its just players trying to add to the metagame database with more findings.
Why did Larry keep phantasming on-stage? I could be wrong, but it could have been: 1. Phantasm DESTROYS most of Olimar's options, so logically Falcos use it more in this matchup, one of the underlying reasons why it's a tougher MU for Olimar. I think Larry was just getting greedy with phantasm (after Nietono got his spacing right for delivering punishes,) when he should have been safely going for the ledge. 2. He got nervous and missed the ledge by mistake. (It's Apex, so yeah.) 3. Both.
In my opinion, DEHF could have won, if he had been less PREDICTABLE in these moments: 1:10 4:05 6:03 8:16. In fact he had never cancelled Phantom, getting readily smashed by the opponent. If he had cancelled Phantom, he could have ledge-grabbed with a safer recovery, thanks to invincibility frames, deceiving Nietono.
Larry shoulda won this ... looks like he got freaked out by the pikmins so he used alot of time shaking them off instead of reflecting new incomers. That, and minor spacing errors I've rarely seen him do
fucking DEHF kept trying to hit nietono with side b from off stage and nietono just punished every time! he could have won that first match easily if he had played safer.
Is there a reason DEHF kept side-Bing onto the stage instead of to the ledge? I think he would have won if he didn't eat critical smashes while doing that.
A pro player like DEHF wouldn't have missed a tech like that so many times. It wasn't just once or I would agree with you. He just wasn't playing safe imo.
DEHF was being too relaxed with using his phantasm against Nietono that first round, and that's what got him killed. Normally phantasm has priority over all the pikmin EXCEPT the yellow ones. That's just how good at keeping track of his pikmin Nietono is.
