The selection of paintings just stunned me! Great work! Coincidentally, I finished my first reading of Thus Spoke Zarathustra just a couple of days ago, thank you so much for this upload! As always, great content, real intellectual nourishment.
i made a religion about teleological engineering to avoid technonihilism as we approach the singularity. this extends the path provided by nietzsche's work. te.xel.io/posts/2017-02-07-oneirontology-semiotics-karma-and-moral-consequentialism.html
Have a question @academyofideas Throughout meaning readings of Nietzsche I've noticed that there's an element or a hint of his hopes of transcendence of men being the next Evolution stage of evolution and even hints of eugenics. And I understanding this right. And I also understand that all his books was published after he passed away and his secretary was the one who published them after his death can that have any influence on his writing?
No, everyone should have a copy of the book "The Holy Grail is Found." Because, with "Thus Spake Zarathustra" Nietzsche tries to substitute for absolute Truth with intellectual maneuverings that lead one full circle, back to the questions that are answered nowhere in his work, but ARE answered in "The Holy Grail is Found."
I don't particularly care what you cannot accept, I am on the left hand path now and am very much so declaired for What you Christians refer to as the Devil.
Left hand path, man. I am both God and the Devil to myself, but not to anyone else. People have hard time dealing with this, which isn't really my problem.
"Do not reject the hero in your soul. Keep holy the highest hope." Thank you again Academy of Ideas. I can feel the urgent truth in these messages. I get the encouragement and insight to continue cultivating the inspiration needed, not only for my creative endeavors, but to push forward in a mindless, soulless culture where almost all forms of art have been rendered profanely distorted products made by corporate owned puppets... especially music. Yet, people are starting to wake up.
The words or Carl Jung and Nietzsche speak directly to my soul. I am grateful for their passionate message to humankind, and for this RU-vid channel… which has managed to introduce me to them. I am beginning to feel great hopes for the future; my path has never been so clear. I wish upon you all great strength and self-knowledge… for it is us, seekers of truth that will shine a light during these times of darkness. It is highly probable that we will fail, but it is our duty to try.
God, your videos have profoundly served as a positive catalyst in my life with THE specific momentum I needed to plunge through a plateau that could've arrested my development for quite possibly the rest of my life because I was unaware until it was brought to my conscience. Thank you is my understatement of the decade. I will forever be in debt and repay your karma to anyone in need of the same kind with mine until I die. What a great difference you've made! Thank you!
Liberty Infinite being intelligent at all is a curse in my opinion, can you imaging how great it would be to be so unaware that you can just happily stumble through life without knowingly rejecting your potential?
As I am watching the screen but unloading the dishwasher, my eyes fixed on the words on my cell phone. "bridges to the Superman"....I feel the cool, slightly-still-wet ceramic in my hand that I've just reached down to be the next item I take out of the top shelf of the dishwasher..... and it is a Superman mug. The only one like it, all the rest are of a blue ceramic plain matching set. Of all the moments.
greetings from 2020. this content is hitting hard in my time. I blame myself, for needing to witness examples of the Last Man to understand its depravity.
Have you ever thought about why one third of the angels (according to your holy book) turned away from your..god? There must be a reason huh? Have you even read the bible? I have many times, from genesis to revelation. It's a very twisted book, a godspell.
@@dnaya7750 Certainly, the fallen angels, just as fallen humans wanted to engage in wicked behavior and the Holy One demands righteousness. We all are given freewill. Our choice. I am just as weak, if not weaker, than any angel, but I have sought salvation through faith in the One who had given up His earthly crown that I may be redeemed.
i want to give recognition to the narrator. it sounds to me, he understands perfectly what he is reading. that's not always the case. i'm sure i'm not the only one who noticed that.
That last bit of the renounce to heroism and the consummation and destruction of an empire paintings hit home as the cornerstone that holds Nietzsche's message together. History has been proven to be cyclical. A quick look at the fall of Great Ancient Cultures and Empires is enough to understand that Nietzsche was nothing close to a prophet, but merely somebody who knew and understood history and refused to sit idly while the common folk of the world brought the same fate upon us all all over again. To think that there will be another chance to start human culture altogether, or if it is even possible to detour from this idle cycle seems to me is a matter of speculation, and it doesn't seem wise to leave to the randomness of fate the task of answering it. Thank you for these videos!
Much time has been spent looking, and many words have been written in the quest to discover the Missing Link when all that had to be done was to gaze into a mirror.
Accepting you are a bridge to something greater is a healthy kind of humility. It frees you to recognize your many strengths without falling into the arrogance that you are perfect or even close to it. A living cell is a triumph of the universe with much to rejoice in itself and yet how little it is and brief next to the man into whom it has become. Thus are we to the superman of the remote future. It is good to love the grandeur of the future as a sturdy bridge generously gives its support to those who tread upon it.
Hermeticism, esotericism, rosicrucianism, .etc are all the same antiquated symbolic idiocy. They are understandable. They're just silly and outdated. People who cling to the allure of some secret, hidden knowledge are pretentious fools no better than other metaphysical worshippers looking for something other than reality.
When I realize that I'm staring into the abyss longer than I should I just utter these lyrics to a song called "heysorry, iwasintheshower" BONES. While they worry about being top, I'm just happy that I got to be alive While they strive just to be called the best, feel lucky that I ever got breath I can walk, I can talk I can move like a human Filaments running through my limbs, like the stems of a tulip Last thing I want is money, first thing I want is sunlight Photosynthesis, collecting rays until the sun dies
10:20 Talking on how to stop the want and result of man kind. Shows he knows the answer, expressing the arrow and its string. You need to hunt and fish and when you find fertile ground, plant crops with it. This action can be sustained for many thousands of years.
EXCELLENT SERIES FROM academy of ideas. The real praise will be in watching these videos repeatedly for a decade or two, understanding and then following the tenets. My regards to the force behind this series. This is what a poor pensioner[with monthly pension of $450 can contribute.bs
Fred's ideas and words show him as no more enlightened than the hierarchists of so-called religions, so-called because their means and end are irreligious and divisive with their goal as power over others. Neitche is a distinction without a difference.
ive been thinking about this issue for a long time. Somewhere along the way I fear I lost hope. More specifically, I forgot what it was to have desires. I spent so much time "domesticating" myself to become predictable to other people, more approachable and comforting and less conflicting, that I have not spent time on pursuing my own desires. Now I feel as though I have forgotten what they are, in reality I know what they were but I don't have the same urge to do the things I used to once find joy and meaning in. TL:DR masturbation no longer satisfies my weekend afternoons, woe is me
Nietzsche, that rascal, what highly developed thinking he had? Sharing much truth he did. I wonder if, at the end of his life, maybe on his death bed, he gave his life back to the One Who is Truth?
Frazier's , The Golden Baugh, proved to me that modern "christianized" humans are still like their earlier neolithic counterparts, always grappling with understanding and accepting their plsce with regard to nature. Thus, always separating themselves from their true inheritance -- freedom in its purest form. Free of all their own created torments to be something they are not - gods. Like Frazer and others, Neitche only confirms my own experiences and awareness.
+Exodus Bullshit! Merciless Dictators killed the people, It's the fault of totalitarian systems and hierarchy. Saying "it's Marxisms fault" is like the Nazis using Nietzsche to excuse repression and murder
+Exodus anarchism is per definition the state of human living equally without ruling over each other, if this becomes the "normal consens", dictators wont be a problem, especially when 80% of the population refuses to follow orders
In "Thus Spake Zarathustra" Nietzsche tries to substitute for absolute Truth with intellectual maneuverings that lead one full circle, back to the questions that are answered nowhere in his work. Like most modern philosophers and all of modern science, Nietzsche skipped Parmenides and fell for Aristotle, which leads to endless dissection of the Indivisible, such that the Forest is forever obscured from their view by the tree branches. Give me a "click" if you want to see the Forest, instead....
You could rename the Academy of Ideas, 'Nietzsche and the Academy of Ideas' , not that its necessarily a bad thing but its definitely biased towards his thoughts.
The god we created never lived ! Is dead , never was is or will be alive ! Perhaps the one creation is a different matter , an ever intriguing mystery not to be explained resolved or categorized , other than in seeking inspiration for the deeper understanding and experience of life ?
Great artwork as backdrop. What are the names of the pieces shown back to back starting at 10:46? I believe it has something to do with the decline and fall of the Roman Empire, but I can't find the name of the artwork or artist.
The irony usually starts when every and each ideologue around the corner will pick up these lines as a justification for their beliefs as being 'heroic' and 'overmanly'. I will look forward to your interpretation of how the fuck an overman looks like in the modern world.
An overman is not affected by time, time Is relative, who told you the overman is affected by time, you are still stuck in intellectual dualism, go and study more.
Nietzsche had a valid critique and offered an invalid solution. Ultimately his ideas led to the moral relativism we live in today. It is the duty of the aristocrat or Aryan spirit to guide those that are less pious or noble than they are, by force if necessary the way you would physically prevent a child from running into the road.
God is found in mankind. Glory and greatness available to any with luck grit and will. Immortality is found in what you leave in the lives of others long after your grave withers, and your bones become dust. The gods of our past may vary well be, or may not be. History long sense distorted by word of mouth long after the deeds had been done.
Much of what ails us is a lack of respect for “ambiguity.” Something that is so wholly raw & unbridled, it’s so easy for anyone to fall for their own biases & personal fallacies that something so seemingly innocuous & faliable, falls right through the cracks of that radar entirely, that it’s easily dismissed & categorized as nothing pertinent or substantial to our existence. Hidden in plain view.
Isn’t it crazy that we are all the rulers of this world as we know it. Isn’t it crazy that all of the possibilities to become something in the world your energy or life force watever you want to call it was put into a human body. Think about it you won the lottery 400 trillion times over by only having the privilege to be a human.
It is hard to simply spew them out and expect people to understand. Unless you are used to operating in a framework in which they are beget - and that's something you have to be predisposed for - you won't be able to relate, not even in the least. Even Nietzsche himself had said it: "One has to be born for it."
Havnt read the book, but all I can say is that mankind has never changed, and probably will never change. When you see how greek philosophers describe the world its really obvious it never changed.
Smart by Design It is quite fascinating. Nietzsche wrote perhaps a good 100 years before his time. The consequences of living in a world were god is well and truly dead and in which mankind is completely on it's own, is only now beginning to dawn upon us. His solution to the problems the death of god causes are more relevant than ever.
I think I understand now why Nietzsche went mad, his mind tried to penetrate the infinite, each time he lifted a veil there was another veil in front of him and so on and so forth ad infinitum, thus leading to his madness. To all those who are going to adopt Nietzsche's worldview and philosophy, here is a warning from the man himself, "And if you gaze long into an abyss, the abyss also gazes into you." -Nietzsche
understandable - To be a bridge you somewhat isolate yourself from the herd ( mentality ) , refuse easy rewards as much as possible and strive overcome your own flaws as good as you can. That is hard work and only a few have the ears to listen to you and your ideas. This causes pain and needs strength - hearing these words and ideas spoken out loud and feeling yourself being spoken to or recognized as said bridge , touches in a most profound way. It gives a glimps of meaning and reassurance to the ones seeking more and facing questions that seem unanswerable. - I for one , feel that way. Not in an arrogant and selfserving way ( at least i try not to ) , but as a self aware individual longing for likeminded people to share thoughts and conversations about ideas that frighten , bother or inspire me the most. ... or something like that
If people are interested in Nietzsche, Gregory B. Sadler is doing currently a series on Nietzsche's core concepts in one of his works. Big recommendation.
Schopenhauer: "Quite ordinary and shallow men are able to produce books of very great importance because of their matter, which was accessible to them alone. Take, for instance, books which give descriptions of foreign countries, rare natural phenomena, experiments that have been made, historical events of which they were witnesses, or have spent both time and trouble in inquiring into and specially studying the authorities for them. On the other hand, it is on form that we are dependent, where the matter is accessible to every one or very well known; and it is what has been thought about the matter that will give any value to the achievement; it will only be an eminent man who will be able to write anything that is worth reading. For the others will only think what is possible for every other man to think. They give the impress of their own mind; but every one already possesses the original of this impression. However, the public is very much more interested in matter than in form, and it is for this very reason that it is behindhand in any high degree of culture. It is most laughable the way the public reveals its liking for matter in poetic works; it carefully investigates the real events or personal circumstances of the poet’s life which served to give the motif of his works; nay, finally, it finds these more interesting than the works themselves; it reads more about Goethe than what has been written by Goethe, and industriously studies the legend of Faust in preference to Goethe’s Faust itself. And when Bürger said that “people would make learned expositions as to who Leonora really was,” we see this literally fulfilled in Goethe’s case, for we now have many learned expositions on Faust and the Faust legend. They are and will remain of a purely material character. This preference for matter to form is the same as a man ignoring the shape and painting of a fine Etruscan vase in order to make a chemical examination of the clay and colours of which it is made. The attempt to be effective by means of the matter used, thereby ministering to this evil propensity of the public, is absolutely to be censured in branches of writing where the merit must lie expressly in the form; as, for instance, in poetical writing. However, there are numerous bad dramatic authors striving to fill the theatre by means of the matter they are treating. For instance, they place on the stage any kind of celebrated man, however stripped of dramatic incidents his life may have been, nay, sometimes without waiting until the persons who appear with him are dead."
I personally see the "Death of God" as the necessary or destiny of humanity. Just as Neitzche says we must become gods ourselves to find new meaning in the absence of the all mighty creator. The History of mankind is one of apotheosis. The Greeks said Zeus lived in fear of his children supplanting him and taking the thrown and power of their father, just as he did to his father and his father did before him. This fear is exemplified in their myths and their view of hubris as sin. As the downfall of hubris is always caused by the gods punishing those they deem "to step beyond their place". As the the titans overthrew their parents and created the gods. Only to be over thrown by their creations, so too the gods feared their creations, man. Today we see they were correct in their fear as we now stand at the precipice of our destiny. Having surpassed and killed God. Do we fall to our own creations or do we surpass ourselves and become something greater yet. If man is greater than God what could be greater than man? The Superman.
When he says none of you are Overmen (a translation I prefer to Superman), he's talking to characters that represent his own weaknesses, as well as his flawed teachers. He isn't really saying that modern man can't be Overmen, but that he must himself move beyond these flawed caricatures to become the Overman (essentially, the Overcoming Man; He who overcomes himself over and over). It's purely psychological. Zarathustra himself does become the Overman in the end.
He said before he went mad the tragedy is not that God was dead but rather that ppl go on worshipping a dead God. To bee appreciated one cannot interpret 'God' as literal deity but projections of the human psyche.
I wouldn't rush to dismiss him as doing things only for the sake of money/pleasure. In order to run a business you need to have a profit regardless of what your end-goal is, and in order to achieve anything of a grand scale you need a business. If you want to see the last man, look into the masses.
It's not as if God doesn't exist but what God wants us to achieve, is to become such a being that is of likeness to him. [A way to still balance out your faithfulness and accepting an attempt at self-deification] We need not fear anything. We're all Jesus. Even he was considered the perfect human being. Right now, we're all basically primitive apes living in fear and not following the role model we were meant to follow. Isn't that what was left for us? To attempt self-deification? Yet to attempt self-deification is an attempt to abandon your humanity. To sacrifice and die all for a greater glory. Now that I think about it, maybe that's why we live with the mere pursuit towards eternal comfort and happiness. Because the burden of a God is a burden too heavy to bear.
It's because you hate God. Note: there's zero compunction from *either side* of today's polarised West, over the U.S. constantly drone-killing poor brown people.
"They will die a death that will last millennia, until all that remains is their code, their history, and in the end, the shell of their armor upon the shell of a man, too easily slain [...]" -Kreia-
Reading the comments here...it is painfully obvious who has experienced the growth towards Overman and who is merely flirting with the idea on an intellectual level. The former have no doubt that they are a bridge - a prelude to better players - the latter still turn to mankind's old prejudices and are therefore trapped in a labyrinth.
Wouldn't it have been better to refer to our ancestors in the past as "ancients" or "ancestors" and not "primitives"? The loaded language gives of a biased slant toward ancient beliefs.
