Prof David Nutt is currently very busy doing some of the most interesting and important research in the world right now. However, the study on these drugs was of course already done, by him, a few years back - but the results did not please the alcohol lobby or the politicians in their pocket and David Nutt was sacked for simply telling the truth that was revealed as the result of scientific investigation. So, I don't think he'd be interested. But it would be good to have him back advising the government again. Though as I say I doubt he'd be interested in the job. Currently working on things that might well change the world.

I'm English, but moved to Colorado in 2019..... Buying clean, lab analyzed weed that details CBD and THC, was great. Lots of older folks are using it for pain instead of meds and the customers were not at all who you'd think they'd be..... Normal people.

The tax revenue (as long as they don't try to put stupid restrictions on potency) really would, as you say, cover a large chunk of it. I lived next to people who smoke the “harmless” drug cannabis and weed - they were an utter nightmare of disgraceful behaviour - unconscionable actions and an utter disregard for anyone other than themselves and their needs….do not relinquish control.

Nigel gets home and enjoys a pint i for the last 45 years come home from work and loves a joint or 2 ,ive worked all my life brought up 2 kids one has a good job in a lawers firm my daughter is at university studying to get bachelor's degree in science, i also past my driving test after smoking a joint and learnt 3 trades while being stoned and ive been persecuted and ostracized for it and the war on drugs ain't worked. Also Teresa mays husband owns the biggest cannibiss farm in Europe and sell it to big pharma

@@BlackSailPass_GuitarCovers you obviously never smoked , I've been driving for 40 years I've had 3 accidents 1 was my fault 2 wasn't , I don't drive stoned no more because they can test you for it now and also it's like beer you can drive after a joint or two it doesn't effect you like alcohol but it stays in your blood for weeks so I could have smoke of a night but the next morning you feel no effect because its worn off but if I got stopped and tested it would show up

Legalizing drugs might seem like a great idea but it really is not. Go to the countries and areas that have done this, they are a nightmare. No one wants to live in those areas. The problem just gets worse. Change is needed, but legalizing error is not the answer. With this logic we need to legalize illegal immigration because we are losing the battle ;))

As it's inevitable that Labour will win, the only party that should have an actual manifesto is Labour, hence "contract" is more appropriate for Reform (and everyone else).

It's not difficult. If you own your property, or have permission from the landlord, you should be allowed to cultivate a few plants for personal use so long as you're not causing an odour nuisance (use carbon filtration). You still enforce the law against distribution, street activity, and don't celebrate it as a cultural thing. Is it really that difficult to just allow people that level of freedom? The fact the establishment is still dragging its feet is because, I think, they terrified of the psychic impact it can have on people.. in that it can help people see things that they'd prefer they didn't see. Same goes for the species of mushroom that grows natively in this country.

Like in the Netherlands, yeah? More tourism and people who actually live there use it less. Stricter rules for growing make it cleaner. Introducing a legal cannabis market in the UK could earn the Treasury between £1bn and £3.5bn a year in tax revenues.

The FACT that Nigel has an OPEN MIND in relation to the political arguments on drugs, speaks volumes as to his character. I am all in favour of EDUCATION rather than PROHIBITION, as I believe prohibition doesn't work. I believe all drugs that have a NATURAL DERIVATIVE should be decriminalised, 1st and foremost. And there should be massive education programmes to educate the young (and lots of adults too), on the dangers involved, and the positives (and not just the negatives), surrounding drug use.
