I love Nigella. Her dishes are always innovative. What I find lousy is that I never find any of his recipes transcribed in the videos uploaded to RU-vid to know the quantities, the cooking times, the temperatures. They never tell us anything. There is not even a link to an official page of her. Nor do the videos have the option of subtitles to capture things that at some point are not well understood. It is a real shame.
This is a random person who uploaded this video -- it's not Nigella's official channel. These videos are more meant to inspire and demonstrate, rather than go through all the painstaking steps and amounts. But if you're looking for the recipe, it's right here: www.nigella.com/recipes/chocolate-fruit-cake
It's delicious. I made it last year and brought it to my aunt's house for Christmas dinner and it was the surprise hit of the dessert table (I'd also made another cake to give people options, as I know fruit cake is one of those things that's either loved or loathed). I'd read that marzipan is a traditional Christmas cake topping and, while I enjoy the flavor, I don't care for marzipan's clay-like texture, so I topped my cake with a simple almond-flavored buttercream frosting. I'm going to make it again this year and package up slices to safely deliver to local family since we can't all be together for the holidays. Good luck with making your cake! I hope it turns out well at that you enjoy it. Happy holidays!
@@AliciaNyblade could you plz help me with the ratio of ingredients . I have loved watching this recipe but confused about the amounts specially in the sauce . What liquor did you use for the sauce . Thanks in advance
@@sarah3998 I used Tia Maria for the sauce. If you can't find that, any other coffee-flavored liqueur will do. Here's the recipe from Nigella herself: www.nigella.com/recipes/chocolate-fruit-cake
Christmas cake recipe In a pot add Fruits butter dark sugar mix spice molases vanilla coffe liquer honey orange zest and juice of orange cocoa powder_ cook together for a short while then add eggs flour baking powder almond flour mix together and bake
The recipe states that you should leave the mixture for minimum 30 minutes to cool before adding the eggs. I've made the cake with no problems and as with all recipes by Nigella it's fantastic. Link to full recipe in reply to Bernard Beyloune's comment 4 posts up.
