Nigella Lawson is the reason I started paying attention to my cooking and to actually start to enjoy it. I remember being totally enthralled when her show first aired here in the states. This is still one of my all time favorite desserts. Both to eat and to make.

When I was a child in New Zealand 🇳🇿 I remember a recipe that was : Graham Crumbs on the bottom, Raisins, Chocolate , white Icing . Never seen it since ( 1965 )
That reminds me of crushed salted pretzels mixed with butter, and pressed into a glass casserole dish, then making raspberry gelatin, you put fresh or frozen thawed raspberries and pout that on the crust, next the creamcheese and whipped cream topping that is blended together, refriderate for a few hours, and it's so yummy for a special occasion.
Trifle is meant to be spooned into desert bowls. It’s never something which is presented neatly, like one would cut a cake or a flan. Check out ‘Eton Mess’, another quintessential British desert. Some deserts are just ladled into a bowl and enjoyed - I’m surprised by your comment. I’m assuming you’re not from the UK, but seriously… would you “cut and serve” ice cream? If neat presentation is your concern, you can make individual portions in glass ramekins.
@@ah7910 Not from the UK, thus the question! No need to be condescending, seriously! I am sure there are plenty of foods around the world you have no clue how to serve! P.S. Ice cream cake is cut and served!
I’d have to add Sherry and brandy in a trifle, even in Christmas cake Sherry and brandy goes in,might try port this yr though never drank or tried port before
The whole point of raining day cooking is take all the time you need in the kitchen, to get a pack of store brought sponge cake. And don’t forget the sponge cake is the best thing in this recipe.
Nigella, how to serve it out and what to plate it in? Would've loved a demonstration of that as well as a taste test of your own creation, being the culinary goddess that you are, love 😊
For quite a few years I'v been searching for a way to find where I can purchase that two wonderful pans Nigella used on this recipe, but my search has been totally blind. There's someone who might tell me what's their brand and where to find? I would appreciate utmost
