I love these old videos when Nigella was happy with John. They make me happy. I have just lost my husband. We never know what is ahead. Probably just as well. Bless her. To this day she is doing marvellously. But it can’t be the same. Life is tough. Watching great cooking is soothing.
I am so sorry to hear about your late husband 💔😢 But, like you, I too lost my husband in July this year! We may not know one another, but we both have something to share! If you would like this, I am there for you! Who knows.....! Strangers now.....! 4rnds later?! Geraldine Maher 😷🤜🤛 Dublin Ireland.
geraldine maher Dear Geraldine am really sad for you. Your loss even a bit closer than mine. Every so often I hear a noise and still expect him to come in the door. I was looking at a photo album that he did from a trip 20 years ago and his comments were just like hearing him talk. I know I have a couple of voice messages on my phone but can’t bare to listen yet. My great grandfather came over to NewZealand from Dublin c1870. I have a real soft spot for Ireland and the lovely accent. My grandmother used to sing lots of Irish songs to me. Not long before my mother died she told me my birth father was from Ireland. We have closer links than you could have known. 💔🌹
@@geraldinemaher4133 Dear Geraldine, l loved your message. Thank you so much. I am in New Zealand but my great grandfather came from Dublin. I am 3/4 Irish.🥰 I have not been not well enough yet to email personally. At the moment I have had a really sore throat for 5 days. Until my husband died I had not had a cold even for nearly 40 years. That’s how long we’ve lived in the country. I know anyone can read this so need to be careful. The first month I had night horrors so tried watching tv nights and had night horrors during the day. I have never told anyone but I have never been able to cry. Same with my dad but then I couldn’t eat. That was when I was 24. I cried buckets for my mum and yet she had never really loved me. I have reached a point nearly 4 months and I feel calmer and trying to focus on my garden. I wish we could link up somehow. I am in New Zealand but while mentally agile my walking is not good. Leave it to you sweet Geraldine if you would like to correspond 🌈🌹🥰
-@You can't leave this empty Hello from New Zealand. You are still so young and you never know what is just around the corner. Life can be tough. The longer you love someone the greater the pain when you loose them. Not all marriages are happy. There would be many people who wish they were you I am sure. You have a freedom that goes with marriage. You sound so nice I am sure you will get what you wish for. In the meantime a cat or a dog can be wonderful company.
Dear Nigella, my late husband taught me a trick if I get something TOO SALTY. Cut a slice of raw potato and add it to any savory dish. The potato will absorb the salt. Depending on just how salty the dish is, it may take more than one slice. Try it with boiling water. Add salt, then add the potato slice, and taste. It really works! Love all your videos. Loved your old kitchen in the 2017 Christmas Kitchen the best. It looked so homey. Then loved the next kitchen after that secondly. Thank you for all you do for us home cooks.
these old episodes are my favourite - everything is so raw and unrefined ... complete opposite of today and the instagram era. This series is so authentic sadly the newer ones (Nigella Express etc) are not so :(
I dont think she was ever the same after john died, back then she WAS raw and natural and deeply passionate about her food, now shes just missing something, but I still love her 🥰
This comment made me curious so I’m watching her show from 2020.. y’all are on crack, she’s still exactly the same and just as enjoyable to watch, just.. two decades older lol. She looks incredible, the recipes are interesting and look delicious, and she still bites down on her food with that same reckless abandon that was always so satisfactory to watch. I also think it’s kind of gauche to try and link any perceived changes to her private life, people just grow and evolve on their own sometimes
Oh thank you for these Nigella-posts. I am so grateful. I still can't believe I missed her about 10 years ago now, when she was here signing her newest cook book. I can't believe that. But I like the way she IS, I enjoy her sense of self and mostly her sense of style. Although I am much too old to run w/ her crowd, these shows give me a sense of fun. And that's something new a days. Love to you and Nigella.
This is probably useless info, but i read that Ina Garten used or (still uses) the same production team that nigella used to use in her Nigella Bites series. No wonder the camera feels the same with Ina. I mean, i much prefer Nigella's way, mannerisms and food, i thought that was a cool " did you know?" type of info...
@@ebsmites7544 I think it’s because we’ve been in a pandemic for the past 7-8 months and we’re so used to being cautious about coughing, sneezing and wearing a mask in general. It’s so weird seeing people on tv acting so casual. The old days lol
11:25. I use those leaf gelatine sheets on the inside of my gingerbread houses at Christmas. Use royal icing to secure inside so you don’t see the icing and pipe on colored candles with flames and holly on the inside surface as though they’re on the windowsill. I use battery tealights inside to put the house on the dinner table to make the windows glow. Walmart and others sell them online 20 sheets $4.99. Make sure they have the diamond pattern to look like leaded glass panes. ❤️
One imports note: please be careful if you don’t peel your onions that they don’t have any black mold on them. If they are fresh from the grocer’s like I assume Nigella uses hers, that shouldn’t be a problem, but if they have been sitting for a while, this is something to look out for.
she looked at ease with him there, very loving and caring. She was so animated too, loved that. He suffered and she was there to care for him, that is love. Her kids are adorable, even as they age. These videos are my tonic, and her recipes are easy and fun, and so good.
Delishimo. We wrap Mussels in Bacon, then BBQ them. You can pan-fry them but they are so much better on the BBQ. You hold it all together with a Toothpick.
Wow, the "style" and "mood" of Nigella's older shows are way different from the carefully rehearsed/scripted, edited, and glossy shows we see today. This seems so casual and even messy in comparison...
This was from 1998. That's 25 years ago. It seems like an entirely different world in retrospect; especially from an American perspective. It was pre-9/11, and before the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Most households didn't have the internet, nor cell phones.
I used watch you mam on tv .ndtv good times. But I found you on you tube it's good and all your vidio uploaded one year back its showes .now a days no vidios not uploaded why big fan from Bangalore India shobha
I'd still cook Indian fresh (bio) Spinach curry with cottage cheese :-)) served with rice and a side vegetable. :-) Super healthy and delicious always.
How is it okay to dip the fork that you taste with back into the common food? I am genuinely asking if that is considered okay in western cultures? Coz in India, this is a big NO - and I feel rightly so.
I grew up in a really big Italian family. Taste testing with a spoon then using it in the pot wasn’t that big of deal. Although at table, it was fine if you used your fork to grab meat or something if you were just taking that item for yourself. And you weren’t touching any of the other pieces. But everyone has their own opinion on this.
@@marthar4983 Yeah, so? We eat food with our hands. But we don't dip the hand with which we have eaten into the serving bowl itself. And wow, "you people"?!
Yes me too! I mean I do love Nigella haha but this got me anxious for a while. But similar to the previous comment, if she’s serving her family living in the same household, I believe it doesn’t matter!
I don't understanding Europe's love of Jell-O. As kids, we really only ate when we were sick. It was easy on a sore throat and gentle on our stomach if we had a stomach bug.
I'm Canadian, I can't speak for Europe but I'm not a fan of the texture of jellies. My Nan used to have jelly and custard, I hated it. Jellies moulds like that make me think of the 70's.
There is no "Europe's love of Jelle". Maybe an English love? We here in France, Belgium, Germany, Holland, Italy, Spain etc don't eat jello. In fact I have never had it in my entire life (from Belgium)
@@RavenWolfDrum69 It mostly comes from my own issues around having to clean up after cooking. I have dark granite countertops and I hate them so much, I swear no matter how many times I wipe them down, I find more crumbs. lol
I love you. But please don’t put the fork that you were tasting with back in the food you are serving your friends. You are beautiful and I love your videos
Nigella Lawson hace del cocinar una pasarela de moda , cuando habla se mueve durante el programa , es un agrado verla ...saludos ..bella y femenina Nigella
Love these old episodes of Nigella but must admit, that her flitting-around, slamming, & rushing DOES stress me out a bit….guess I’m too highly sensitive (HSP) or something.
