Governor Ibikunle Amosun's tenure had always been a bad news to Ogun State . He was the same governor that frustrated Dangote to relocate the huge and strategic refinery/ Fertilizer plant away from the state. Now he cancelled a project deal with a Chinese group entered into by his predecessor,Gbenga Daniel, without caring about the legal implications. What a misfit governor!
Amosu appeared to have acted with impunity .The Chinese are lucky the contract is subject to international arbitration. Otherwise, they would have been stuck in Nigerian court for decades.
The Chinese are not LUCKY as you put it. Almost EVERY foreign country doing business puts in their contract foreign mediation because they don’t trust our legal system. So it is not luck as you put it. Nigeria is playing checkers while the world plays chess. Even the person that got into the contract won’t be questioned, the one who got us out of the contract and into this mess won’t be questioned either.

Contracts that may later be breached either by the incumbent or subsequent administrations! The issue is oftentimes that of impunity and integrity on the Nigerian side! This ethical issue is a longstanding one. For example, a Nigerian delegation once paid a visit to the Irish Embassy in Abuja many years ago with the hope of partnering with Aer Lingus (the Irish national carrier) in the country. The Irish diplomat, diplomatically turned down the request immediately, stating that the defunct Nigeria Airways defaulted in a prior agreement and they (the Irish) had no intention of falling victim all over again! Scenarios like this do not help the perception of Nigeria in the business space whenever we cry out for foreign investment or invite investors to come purchase government bonds! Courts overseas will always hold Nigeria and its "big men" accountable if the local courts are too "paddy, paddy" with their political benefactors! Sadly, this embarassing scenario will continue to play out until our word becomes our bond especially in business!

Nigerians should read contract terms well before signing to stop these embarrassments. When a new government takes over they should not just move on to new deals without thoroughly reviewing what was on ground before they came in. The newly appointed must review what has been handed over to them. Since Chinese is a language that is foreign to us our leaders should sign Chinese contracts translated in English.
